Who complains about musical interludes? Geeze. Your content is amazing. You are a succinct, informative speaker. It's kind of you to take the time to pander to these people.
@@OohSooMoist I just started watching this UA-cam video and your comment reminded me that just listening to listen doesn't do anything, I have to apply the knowledge provided and use my critical thinking to expand on what I'm learning.
I am extremely inspired by Socrates and his Philosophy. His method of inductive reasoning, approach towards the importance of 'Knowledge' and rationale for living a "good" and "virtuous" life -- all these concepts resonated with me deeply. Thank you for explaining his life and arguments so clearly and in such an accessible manner. Excellent episode.
mannnn those heavy metal transitions were what had me hooked my homie. ily either way, you’re not lacking as a speaker especially since improving is the goal.. see you at episode 90~
wtf, who complained about the heavy metal it's actually making me hype and thinking oh shit who's going to be the next idea challenger like anime philosopher's trying to one up each other's idea
I like it when im listening during the day, for the same reasons as its quite exciting. But I loooove listening to these podcasts at night to help me sleep, so overall I would be happy without he music :)
i've been learning about philosophy for the past year but lately i've been busy w my schoolwork and stuff like that so i haven't had time to read, and this is a great podcast so far
19:00 Cicero (106-43 BCE): "Socrates however was the first who called philosophy down from heaven and placed it in cities and introduced it even in homes and drove it to inquire about life and customs and things good and evil."
Thanks for the episode, I'm a new guy! Rip rock interlude 😂 and thanks for thinking of the viewers needing an alarm clock, though I'm not sure if many needed it LOL. Great stuff!
A friend complimented Me once by saying that I was a "3000 year old sophist". I didn't know what that was at the time, so I looked it up. Thank you for clarifying in this podcast that not all sophists are bad. :)
A good Sophist is a Socratic, brother. If you aren’t a Socratic and are trying to be benevolent, you are a cowboy who may or may not achieve his goal - you can’t know to a high certainty. A Socratic can know to a high degree of certainty.
Diotima is the woman Socrates's credits in Symposium for teaching him what we today would call the "law of non-contradiction." The Delphic Oracle was also associated with the goddess of Justice Themeis and the oracle her spokesperson. At any rate I've seen you've done your homework on Socrates. As for Aristophanes's play Clouds. Aristophanes has two characters called Unjust Speech and Just Speech mock Socrates's "method." Some might call that "ironic." Other's might never study it and make a youtube video. Apology? That dialouge can be summed up in three words. Absolutely Fucking Profound. Here Socrates's method is on full dispaly as he draws the distinction of Reality>gods vs God>reality. Collaspe that wave function. What do you get? Something along the idea of omniscient or omni-science. What does that mean? Doesn’t matter. The point is Socrates is drawing the distinction between G as subject and g as predicate. What does that mean? Well it means explaining away socrates doesn’t constitute understanding of Socrates. For example. "Is piety, pious because it is loved by the gods? Or do the gods love piety because it is pious? Do you understand what Socrates is doing there? That 🔄 stuff? No? Because you clearly didn't show that you did in this video. Here lets try it another way. Tell me you don't understand Socrates's philosophy. By telling me, Socrates's philosophy is not understood by YOU. See how that "🔄" stuff works now? See how its just a tad bit more "edgeir" than your making it out to be. Than with your example of the "beauty contest?" Still no? Well more than half of Socrates's jury did not "Understand" either. And along with one REALLY PISSED OFF Athenian. As in, gonna wrestle you to the ground and Hoplite spear you in the Fing Face 300 style pissed off Athenian. That will forever Mind F the human race with a book fully titled: "Republic or on Justice" By the name of Aristocles, i.e. "Plato." The "Western Tradition" is Born.
Honestly the metal intro was kinda hype. Just because it's philosophy doesn't mean you haters need a stick so far up your arse =/. Just found this podcast and I'm loving it, with or without the intros though!
I believe Socrates figured that he was so old and didn't have long to live anyway. So why not go out with a bang. If Socrates had been twenty years younger he would have made sure he would win in court. It seems like, we have to make people of history larger than life.
Could someone explain to me the episode count of this channel?? I just found it today and I want to like watch from episode one but.... Like there is no episode one?
He just started reposting his first episodes again. It got confusing. Basicly start with ionion and the presocratics and now here we are. You're golden
You are an amazing speaker Stephen you need no transition. I've been working on an email to you for a long time. I'll send it soon. Please believe in yourself more. You are amazing. Your sexy voice is enough. Trust.
The party line: Socrates was a genius whose goal was to help fellow Athenians and humanity discover Truth. The real story: Socrates was a lazy, unsuccessful, henpecked husband who needed an ego boost, which he found in upstaging busy, working folk and turning their young sons against them.
Aww man. I was enjoying the heavy metal transitions. RIP
I just started listening today and I was so excited to hear the metal cuts
The ending of this video of how Socrates faced death and still maintained his principles made me have goosebumps.
Who complains about musical interludes? Geeze. Your content is amazing. You are a succinct, informative speaker. It's kind of you to take the time to pander to these people.
You're not wise, the more people that can listen to this the better it is for the masses and the creator.
Feel better,bud?
@@OohSooMoist bud? Is that slang marijuana?
@@jZamora87 hey. Why are you trying to fight with people online about comments posted 2 years ago. Do you need to talk about something?

Imagine if politicians, the far left and far right zealots would listen or read about Socrates, life would be much better for everyone.

people complained because they wanted to be bored and sleep to these podcasts instead of pay attention.
I found it annoying since it would come out of nowhere. If it had a good fade in and out, it might not have been so bad...
Sounds brilliant so far
I dislike this internet age where people complain about nothing. So there was rock music, who cares. This is a very good series!

As already stated, the metal was fun but continue on as you please. I just started listening to your podcast and am truly enjoying it. Well done!

Socrates was blamed to be a sophist similarly Andrew Tate nowadays is being blamed to be a misogynist.

I agree! The Sophists got a bit of a bum rap.
Socrates would be called a narcissist these daze.
