Incredible lead performances! I kept forgetting that they were really adults!

It’s a fun production and all that, but NOTHING can compare to the MET’s previous version, particularly this scene with the angels guarding Hansel and Gretel through the long night.

Why do they have to destroy the divine final chord with their applause?

Because they've enjoyed the show and want to express their appreciation, no real harm done.
Now, scream Boo! at the end of an uninspired first act of Parsifal and they want to hang you from the balcony. Go figure...

I saw the production in Munich today and I also loved the staging. Usually I am not very happy with stagings that depart from the standard, but I also found this scene zum sterben Shoen ;-)

So where are the 14 angels that guard the children that they just sang about?

I saw this at the MET last night. It's bloody and gruesome and parents should think twice about bringing their children. Watching the witch writhe in flames is not unlike watching the end of Sweeney Todd.

Interesting to see what other performances make of this scene....

Just completely weird to me. And it has nothing to do with the prayer just before. (As action timed to music, though, it is well done. I just don't think it fits in this opera.)

I was waiting for the cooks to start singing the "Oompa Loompa" song!! Lol!!

What is this? Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory? The cooks remind me of the Oompa loompa's in this scene!!

Music wonderful, but why such horrific scenery? It should be an opera, made as a tale for our Childs, not just for crazy adults.

When it's time to 'man-up' the witch will have you locked away at the County Jail so that you start eating a proper diet so that you'll fill her every need. And don't you know that you better treat it like a lady.

Disgusting! This production destroys the whole magic of the music!
