Thanks for this awesome video. I am planning to mull exact same windows. Could you tell us where you bought mull kit for Reliabilt 150 windows series? I cannot find it online. Thank you in advance.
Technically yes, 36x72 RO windows are actually 35.5x71.5, so 1/2" short in both dimensions. If you add two together they will be 71x71.5 so the RO would need to be at least 71x72. If it's wider, the nailing flange might not reach into solid lumber with an extra 1/2" gap on both sides.
I have a 124"w x 70"h triple d/h to put it. Can you mull them inplace in the window opening so as to avoid lifting the whole unit into the opening? My opening is plumb and square.
I have to do a triple as well, 96 by 54 rough opening. For the price of a mulling kit and the complexity of doing this and then lifting all the windows in one time without breaking anything, I think I might be better off just putting studs between them and trimming them out
@@jimeagle1155 Almost same size window(52x95) to do but i have 3 of them that size. I was thinking of the same thing just studs between and trim them cause I can't find mull kits ANYPLACE and for even jeld-wyn mulled at that size for their basic windows its $1226 each vs three 30" Best windows at $580 total.
@ankaMynx I did mine. I used 2x4s between with wide side out so I had plenty of room for the nailing flange. I finished the window on the inside with wood trim and it looks better than I expected. On the outside I am thinking I will rip down a white vinyl board to fill in the inch or so between the windows j-channels or just run the siding between them. Haven't decided yet
@@jimeagle1155 in probly going to do something similar but replacement so no flange. Probly do skinny side out and rip vinyl trim board to cover on the exterior with plenty of sealant and membrane to make it weather well. If I do the big windows at all, I'm replacing all the windows in the house. They are anderson from the 70s and single pane of course.
@ankaMynx Yeah, all my windows were replacements from the 80s on a 1950 wood frame, but all my windows were too small so I resized everything before installing new siding which is why I use new construction windows.
@@noahswarz4914 I don't have the 105 windows, I have the 3201 series. The mullion kit for those windows (assuming nail fin new construction style windows) does not add any additional width to those windows. We made the mistake of subtraction a 1/2 inch for the kit and now I have to make up for the narrow width.
