Just throw everyone in jail until they prove themselves innocent... Unless they're rich. Then whatever they do, don't throw them in jail and don't inconvenience them in any way, and punish those who attempt to. Because that's freedom, that's democracy, that's justice, and that's america. No wonder calling people american or pro-american has become an insult around the world.
Because Trump, Pence and the rest of the Repulsican elected officials in Indiana refuse to be seen as easy on crime. I guess "Law and order" means criminalize as many black and brown people as possible
Cielfue Luna yeah, but why would it take a governor pardon or trial? Clearly there is a systemic design mistake. Same body, that freed him from prison should have authority to over turn the conviction record. It should not take the same judge or governor to overturn the convection. Which ever legal panel freed hi. from prison, should at the same time have authority to overturn the conviction, if he is clearly completely innocent instead of it being matter of him being released on probation. or he should be for example able to petition the local higher court for pardon specifically, instead of it being a new full trial. That is why there is appeals court and high courts, to correct mistakes of lower courts. It shouldn't be up to the whims of a single politician, whether he gets pardoned or not. Frankly I find the whole political pardon authority really really weird. it is ripe for abuse in both directions, giving pardons for really bad political reasons and not giving pardons for political reasons.
But if he is innocent he shouldn't have to have a trial at all. He shouldn't need a pardon either. His record should have been automatically wiped when he was found inoccent . It is obvious that the reason he had to say he was guilty, to be released, was to prevent him from seeking compensation
***** this is an example of the reason the pardon systum was actully made. its not made for alot of the stupid ways its used these days. there is no doubt this guys recored should be cleared but sence the court systum has failed him thats when the governor should step in
Please don't look at Mike pence and assume that all republicans are dumb cunts like him. The media loves to put the worst of both dems and reps and it's frankly disgusting
yeah stupid media choosing him to be VP nominee. The media voted for trump to win the primaries too I'll bet. and it's the damn media voters who won't let the republican party denounce trump after the media attacked him as a sexual predator. Damn media making it look like a majority of republican voters support these guys.
That strikes me as a little unfair. Going by the proportional of Christians in America, its statistically likley that a sizeable majority of the people working to have Keith Cooper (And indeed, Keith Cooper himself) were also Christian...
***** Religion has been responsible for the Crusades, The Spanish Inquisition, the medieval witch trials of Europe and Americas, the continuing bloodshed between Sunni's and Shiia ect, ect ect. Fairy-tales undercut the value in real world experience which is the foundation for empathy and connection. Atheists value human experience. All of the religions of the book, Islam, Judaism and Christianity are direct gateways to values which inflate faith, which is belief in what is absent, and debase what is clear and present- the human condition. Other religions are similarly bad, but the axis of evil have been profound in their reach and impact and overall bloodshed. "Intellectually honest religion" is an oxymoron. Please rethink such feeble-mindedness.
***** LOL, complains about the OP's generalization against religious people, then he proceeds to generalize against Atheists. Sound logic there, "scholar".
I am beginning to think that Pence's hopes of one day becoming President is never going to happen. If he is incapable of feeling empathy for his fellow man, we certainly don't need him in the White House.
and they have the audacity to scream in support for the death penality..... SIGH. let's just be glad he wasn't on death row for a crime he didn't commit.
Jeremy Merrifield, what exactly did Damion say that was "Right Wing"? He was mocking the right wing, pro-lifers for not caring about human beings after they're born, which is a true statement.
I don't know why that would matter but the only people Pence has pardoned happen to all be white and the one he refuses to pardon (even though he has been found not guilty by DNA) is this African American. THIS guy must plead guilty for Pence to pardon him. What a crock. Would you???
That's a soft word for it. It's a capitalist wasteland where greed and winning long ago destroyed any concept of civic responsibility or human decency, that's what it is. They all watch and clap for their favorite "star" as he runs over and consumes the lives of their neighbors, hoping one day they can be so abusive. A bunch of dumb turkeys all getting fatter waiting eagerly for the blade to come prepare them for Thanksgiving. A joke.
This is the problem with America. You have a man that lost 10 years of his life in a hell hole for a crime HE DID NOT commit. This is a fact and even with all this knowledge it's a no to a pardon. Change is not just coming, it's necessary.
If he had been the CEO of a large bank who had cheated people out of tons of money, he could have just resigned after being caught, and retired with most of the millions he stole. See that's what he gets for not having committed the crime
You're a genius! I vote for a tables, ladders and chairs cage match... Jimmy the Spitting Cobra Dore vs Ben Mack Truck Mankiewicz with Flo from Progressive as the ref!
Jonathan Mollet Unless the system is much more democratic and just, devolution just makes the government weaker to act in cases such as this. In most countries if the central government is more or less decent other local states are too.
rap spitter he might not be able to, I believe that in some cases, like this one, only the governor can pardon him, obama has been pardoning all of the non-violent marijuana users because there is a federal ban on marijuana, so that gives him the ability to pardon them, but in this case I think this pardon is reserved to the state, though I am not 100% sure.
Philip Villaloboz Choosing between Trump or Clinton is basically asking the question of "would you like to get your left ballsack cut off, or your right ballsack cut off, either way it's going to hurt equally", this type of situation is why we need more than two parties, in fact I would go as far as not just to abolish the electoral college and ending corruption, but to also abolish political parties and everyone run as nonpartisan from the local level to the federal level so we can look at these candidates for their ideas, not because of the political party label.
Alright, UA-camrs, do you genuinely want to do something about this? Because you can. A change.org petition was made to support Mr.Cooper: www.change.org/p/indiana-governor-pardon-an-innocent-man. Please sign so we can help!
Umm...isn't there something in the Constitution about not denying a person's right to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness?" Seems to me that Mr. Cooper lost ten years of his life, ten years of his freedom, and at least ten years of his ability to pursue happiness (i.e., the career of his dreams, with a potential income that would have allowed him to have the lifestyle and retirement of his dreams), and he is then also denied the ability to collect monetary reimbursement from the very people who denied him his Constitutional rights? Isn't that Unconstitutional? I would think that even Donald Trump's lawyer ("Says who?") could successfully argue that case! It boggles the mind, and makes me sometimes wish that States with these kinds of oppressive, unreasonable laws (and Governors) didn't just have the ability to secede from the Union if They choose to, but that We the People could vote them out if We choose to...like, maybe "3 strikes and You're out." I'm just saying...
So either we are going to spend a boat load of taxpayer money to retry you or you can go free but you gotta say you are guilty of a crime we know you didn't commit.
If you are wrongly convicted and imprisoned and then given the "option" to go for a new trial, most people are going to not take the new trial just to get away from it all.
There should be civil to criminal consequences for all of those who helped this man falsely spend time in prison, depending on their degree of manipulation and deceit.
"Just obey the law and you have nothing to worry about." So, explain how *an innocent man* spends a *decade in prison* for a crime *he didn't commit.* And did they ever catch the ACTUAL perpetrator???
In addition to refusing to pardon this guy! Trail By Jury is an outdated relic of a bygone era. Get rid of it and hire professional juries to take a look at cases like this! Until, jury members that get the case wrong (especially in a case this awful) need to be put in jail.
Weird US law again. In most countries you're either guilty or unguilty - in Indiana they gave the defendant an option of going home but with a felony on his record.
Are the two guys with glasses brothers or twins? I've been watching these TYT segments for some time and never noticed there were two who look exactly alike from side view! Crazy ...
This is So Wrong in so many ways!! There should be a Federal Law that gives someone who has been falsely imprisoned for Years a set amount of money (depending on the amount of years the person's life was wasted). And all the charges instantly erased off their record.
The millions of dollars that Keith Cooper should get for his wrongful imprisonment should come out of the pockets of the cops, prosecutors, judges, and politicians that were involved in Cooper's case; it should NOT come out of the pockets of the taxpayers.
You can't sue for wrongfully losing years of your life, in 20 states??!!!! But Pence pardoned 3 people who admitted guilt??!!! Why is this man's case a problem for Pence....when even the prosecutor asks this man be pardoned because this man did NO wrong....I don't get this at all -:(
Hey now! I'm from Indiana, and I most certainly do not support Mike Pence in any way, shape, or form. In fact, I begged my friends and family to vote for his opponent, John Gregg. I don't care what religion people are or aren't, but it was clear from the beginning that Pence would try to impose his religious beliefs on the (secular) state. And bam! he tried to legalize religious-based discrimination against LGBT people (of which I consider myself one). I hate to say I told you so, Indiana, but, well...
As someone who is a heartbeat away from being President, you need to be able to pardon people who need to be pardoned. Mike Pence has zippo balls. Literally, he zipped them off. NO, I didn't watch.
The man is BLACK. That is the reason why Mike Pence will not give this black man justice!
Leave the innocent behind bars because... tough on crime? -America

Not tough...profit!
& Libertarians believe the rich should be able to buy their way outta jail too
why would this man need a new trial if it is known he didn't do the crime? that whole notion is ridiculous.
Gangckta ReddRumm to clear his criminal record. he is innocent so give him his pardon

That really and truly is DEPLORABLE! Pence should be put in jail!
Torontopia - Pence is one of the most despicable persons of the USA,by far.
Torontopia - there needs to be a national "Kick Pence in the Nuts" day, funded by Kickstarter of course. 😄
Thank goodness we're Canadian, eh?
bfour88 YES!

Damion Francis My apologies. I rather jumped in. Sarcasm is rather lost ,sometimes, when written .
So true!!
Never liked Pence
***** Lol.
JaySTEEZ I have friends in Indiana and so far, I cannot find anyone who likes Pence. Who paid to get him elected? Thanks
Twitch chat Banhammer nope
Tonya Hinrichs That is what all my friends in Indiana say!
I don't know why that would matter but the only people Pence has pardoned happen to all be white and the one he refuses to pardon (even though he has been found not guilty by DNA) is this African American. THIS guy must plead guilty for Pence to pardon him. What a crock. Would you???
Mike Pence: We have to be tough on not-crimes. All these not-criminals running around, not committing crime, they need to be punished!
America is so backward in so many ways....
That's a soft word for it. It's a capitalist wasteland where greed and winning long ago destroyed any concept of civic responsibility or human decency, that's what it is. Chris Mac it's these religious nuts ruining the country with their bias
Yet so forward.
It's all relative.
To use language trumpanzees can perhaps appreciate, much of America is, in fact, a third world shithole.

Mike Pence looks like a racist cop(but that's just my gut talking) And it's looking like my gut was right !
And the guy didn't even get financial compensation! WTF?
I wish we could find a way to raise money for a progressive candidate by a sanctioned wrestling match between Ben and Jimmy.
You're a genius! I vote for a tables, ladders and chairs cage match... Jimmy the Spitting Cobra Dore vs Ben Mack Truck Mankiewicz with Flo from Progressive as the ref!
What's his excuse for not pardoning him ?
what did you expect from mike pence?
So he has to pay the legal fees again to get out of having felony he did not commit after having to pay fees for being wrongfully prosecuted.
So...Obama should pardon him!
He can't, the man was imprisoned on the state level.
Jonathan Mollet Unless the system is much more democratic and just, devolution just makes the government weaker to act in cases such as this. In most countries if the central government is more or less decent other local states are too.
so why doesnt Obama pardon him?
Because the conviction was at the state level. If he was charged at the Federal level, Obama could pardon him.
rap spitter he might not be able to, I believe that in some cases, like this one, only the governor can pardon him, obama has been pardoning all of the non-violent marijuana users because there is a federal ban on marijuana, so that gives him the ability to pardon them, but in this case I think this pardon is reserved to the state, though I am not 100% sure.
thanks for the clarification
he's not a turkey.
+UTubeHobby boi, is u stupid?
Trump or Clinton? We're FU_ _ED!!!

Your the type of person that cant see past your own nose.
If you imprison an innocent person you know is innocent or keep them imprisoned, you're the one that belongs to jail. For life.
Shouldn't this guy get released immediately and get compensation for years of his life lost and false imprisonment.
Holy double jeopardy, Batman. What the hell is wrong with Pence? One must have one's head pretty far up his own arse to ignore reality like this.
This innocent man is safer in jail Then on The streets ...
Because of the Murder rates in Chicago ??
why is that now?
Why does my timing bother You ?
So sad.
Cerks face everytime he is trying to remember what to say next while someone else is talking. I love it lol
What we need is a list of people he has pardoned. I am willing to bet it is all businessmen/bankers on the list.
Alright, UA-camrs, do you genuinely want to do something about this? Because you can. A change.org petition was made to support Mr.Cooper: www.change.org/p/indiana-governor-pardon-an-innocent-man. Please sign so we can help!

Mike Pence the governor is a monster, hopefully this man will never come close to Washington.

In other news:
"Water....wet...."
So either we are going to spend a boat load of taxpayer money to retry you or you can go free but you gotta say you are guilty of a crime we know you didn't commit.
People look at me like I'm crazy when I say Mike Pence is even worse than Donald Trump.
Here in the state of Indiana, Pence is very loathed. Even before he ran for VP,people were posting Pence must go signs in their yards.
Mike "Sentence Innocents" Pence
Wait a minute.. If he's been found to be innocent, then why isn't he just free to go???
I don't like the acoustics in this new TYT studio.
Nathan Baker they are at the youtube office.
People ought to be able to sue for false imprisonment. You can sue people for harming you in most ways.
What have we come to when a Man needs "pardon" for something he did not do!
If he is innocent, he should have it removed from his record.
Why is that criminal allowed in a position to make these decisions?
No compensation for wrongful imprisonment???
It's better that ten innocent men are imprisoned than one guilty man go free.
+RadioSnivins only 10? Why not 20?
It's the metric system of injustice.
RadioSnivins Lmao! Great comment.
Hmmm.. Base 10 Mathematics of justice...You made your case.. I'm sold!!
If you are wrongly convicted and imprisoned and then given the "option" to go for a new trial,
most people are going to not take the new trial just to get away from it all.
4:47 Headline- "Mike Pence fails to look normal while eating a steak ahead of campaign tour"
There should be civil to criminal consequences for all of those who helped this man falsely spend time in prison, depending on their degree of manipulation and deceit.
Irrelevant to this particular story; what is the reasoning for refusing a new trial to be formally exonerated?
Mike Pence is a bad Hombre......
Hi. My name is Mike, but you can call me Mike for short.
Apparently for Preacher Pence, the quality of mercy CAN be strained, too bad he used all available Grace on Donald.
Why can't he expunge his record if he is later found innocent?
Unreal!
"Just obey the law and you have nothing to worry about." So, explain how *an innocent man* spends a *decade in prison* for a crime *he didn't commit.*
And did they ever catch the ACTUAL perpetrator???
Because that's the moral thing to do....
Imagine what kind of damage this guy he has done in his life. If there is a hell, he is definitely going there.
In addition to refusing to pardon this guy! Trail By Jury is an outdated relic of a bygone era. Get rid of it and hire professional juries to take a look at cases like this! Until, jury members that get the case wrong (especially in a case this awful) need to be put in jail.
just like trump and the central park 5
How can a person have their conviction overturned but still be required to have a felony?
I mean what sort of deal is that?
Couldn't Mr Cooper petition Obama for a pardon as well?
No he can not. The POTUS can only pardon people who were imprisoned on the federal level.
Crazy ...
Eamonn Morris yeah I thought they were the same person for a long time.
That's a big WTF for a man who supposedly believes in "WWJD?"
But.. but if he pardons him they will say he's soft on crime!
This guy right here, yeah I would, yes, I would!
great group exchange of comments! We want more...
Why isn't it automatically taken off his record? That's bullshit...
That's messed up! Wow if happened in Britain there be uproar!
Mike Pence needs to bring out a Hip-Hop album feat. Mike Jones.. I sure they'll get along wonderfully well. =/
Just put him in prison for a week for something he didn't do, to see how it feels.
Where was this?
why doesn't he sue them, once money is involved ,then they will gladly pardon him.
Soooo......according to Pence .........you are guilty until you prove your innocence.....
This is So Wrong in so many ways!!
There should be a Federal Law that gives someone who has been falsely imprisoned for Years a set amount of money (depending on the amount of years the person's life was wasted). And all the charges instantly erased off their record.
Ketchup + Steak = godly (expensive ketchup is amazing)
failure of justice is more damaging than the crime it self
I'm voting John Gregg this November, hopefully he'll give this man the pardon he deserves.
Ok then this just make me have so much more respect for the American justice system...how are my irony?
Why didn't any of this come up during the VP debate?
1. They focused on what their running mates would do as president, and
2. Tim Kaine sucks.
The VP debate was about Russia, didn't you notice. Apparently, we live in the 1950s, and all that matters is who hates Russia more.
The millions of dollars that Keith Cooper should get for his wrongful imprisonment should come out of the pockets of the cops, prosecutors, judges, and politicians that were involved in Cooper's case; it should NOT come out of the pockets of the taxpayers.
Real Christian of you, Pence.
Simply pledge allegiance to, "Old Glory"because it stands for, "Liberty & Justice for all." Really?
okay, everyone's shoe game is on point!
Who disliked this video? I guess you agree with Mike pence on not pardoning innocent people
As deplorable as his running mate.
There are some VERY wrong things in the American judicial system. Glad I don't live there.
If there is a hell, these Mike Pence sorts of people are the ones who go there.
***** If he can pardon guilty people, he can pardon innocent ones too.
Never take the plea if your innocent, especially after its been proven already...
This is Willie Horton in reverse.
Cooper for Governor!!!!!!!
He will make the judicial system GREAT for the first time!!!
So, the man was exonerated but didn't have that blemish on his record removed? That's some lawsuit worthy bullshit.
as a minority I would move. for the future of my family
If he was white or a convicted cop, he'd have been pardoned in a heart beat.
In fact, I begged my friends and family to vote for his opponent, John Gregg. that guy needs to sue the shit out of the state!
As someone who is a heartbeat away from being President, you need to be able to pardon people who need to be pardoned. Mike Pence has zippo balls. Literally, he zipped them off. NO, I didn't watch.
Everyone in this comments section needs to go sign the petition!!!!
I've always said Pence is a calm version of Trump!
You said his conviction was overturned so I'm guessing you misspoke. Is that right Sparkles?
If he admits guilt, he can't sue.
