      Just throw everyone in jail until they prove themselves innocent... Unless they're rich. Then whatever they do, don't throw them in jail and don't inconvenience them in any way, and punish those who attempt to. Because that's freedom, that's democracy, that's justice, and that's america. No wonder calling people american or pro-american has become an insult around the world.

      Because Trump, Pence and the rest of the Repulsican elected officials in Indiana refuse to be seen as easy on crime. I guess "Law and order" means criminalize as many black and brown people as possible

      Cielfue Luna yeah, but why would it take a governor pardon or trial? Clearly there is a systemic design mistake. Same body, that freed him from prison should have authority to over turn the conviction record. It should not take the same judge or governor to overturn the convection. Which ever legal panel freed hi. from prison, should at the same time have authority to overturn the conviction, if he is clearly completely innocent instead of it being matter of him being released on probation. or he should be for example able to petition the local higher court for pardon specifically, instead of it being a new full trial. That is why there is appeals court and high courts, to correct mistakes of lower courts. It shouldn't be up to the whims of a single politician, whether he gets pardoned or not.
      Frankly I find the whole political pardon authority really really weird. it is ripe for abuse in both directions, giving pardons for really bad political reasons and not giving pardons for political reasons.

    • @msw5123
      @msw5123 8 років тому +28

      But if he is innocent he shouldn't have to have a trial at all. He shouldn't need a pardon either. His record should have been automatically wiped when he was found inoccent . It is obvious that the reason he had to say he was guilty, to be released, was to prevent him from seeking compensation

      ***** Religion has been responsible for the Crusades, The Spanish Inquisition, the medieval witch trials of Europe and Americas, the continuing bloodshed between Sunni's and Shiia ect, ect ect. Fairy-tales undercut the value in real world experience which is the foundation for empathy and connection. Atheists value human experience. All of the religions of the book, Islam, Judaism and Christianity are direct gateways to values which inflate faith, which is belief in what is absent, and debase what is clear and present- the human condition. Other religions are similarly bad, but the axis of evil have been profound in their reach and impact and overall bloodshed. "Intellectually honest religion" is an oxymoron. Please rethink such feeble-mindedness.

      rap spitter he might not be able to, I believe that in some cases, like this one, only the governor can pardon him, obama has been pardoning all of the non-violent marijuana users because there is a federal ban on marijuana, so that gives him the ability to pardon them, but in this case I think this pardon is reserved to the state, though I am not 100% sure.

      Philip Villaloboz Choosing between Trump or Clinton is basically asking the question of "would you like to get your left ballsack cut off, or your right ballsack cut off, either way it's going to hurt equally", this type of situation is why we need more than two parties, in fact I would go as far as not just to abolish the electoral college and ending corruption, but to also abolish political parties and everyone run as nonpartisan from the local level to the federal level so we can look at these candidates for their ideas, not because of the political party label.

    Umm...isn't there something in the Constitution about not denying a person's right to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness?" Seems to me that Mr. Cooper lost ten years of his life, ten years of his freedom, and at least ten years of his ability to pursue happiness (i.e., the career of his dreams, with a potential income that would have allowed him to have the lifestyle and retirement of his dreams), and he is then also denied the ability to collect monetary reimbursement from the very people who denied him his Constitutional rights? Isn't that Unconstitutional? I would think that even Donald Trump's lawyer ("Says who?") could successfully argue that case! It boggles the mind, and makes me sometimes wish that States with these kinds of oppressive, unreasonable laws (and Governors) didn't just have the ability to secede from the Union if They choose to, but that We the People could vote them out if We choose to...like, maybe "3 strikes and You're out." I'm just saying...

    This is So Wrong in so many ways!!
    There should be a Federal Law that gives someone who has been falsely imprisoned for Years a set amount of money (depending on the amount of years the person's life was wasted). And all the charges instantly erased off their record.

      2. Tim Kaine sucks.

      The VP debate was about Russia, didn't you notice. Apparently, we live in the 1950s, and all that matters is who hates Russia more.

    The millions of dollars that Keith Cooper should get for his wrongful imprisonment should come out of the pockets of the cops, prosecutors, judges, and politicians that were involved in Cooper's case; it should NOT come out of the pockets of the taxpayers.

    You can't sue for wrongfully losing years of your life, in 20 states??!!!!
    But Pence pardoned 3 people who admitted guilt??!!! Why is this man's case a problem for Pence....when even the prosecutor asks this man be pardoned because this man did NO wrong....I don't get this at all -:(

    Hey now! I'm from Indiana, and I most certainly do not support Mike Pence in any way, shape, or form. In fact, I begged my friends and family to vote for his opponent, John Gregg. I don't care what religion people are or aren't, but it was clear from the beginning that Pence would try to impose his religious beliefs on the (secular) state. And bam! he tried to legalize religious-based discrimination against LGBT people (of which I consider myself one). I hate to say I told you so, Indiana, but, well...

    As someone who is a heartbeat away from being President, you need to be able to pardon people who need to be pardoned. Mike Pence has zippo balls. Literally, he zipped them off. NO, I didn't watch.
