Excellent video. I haven't done a bolt on ball joint for years so was a helpful refresher. Have to do one on my wife's Fluence tomorrow so going to be more confident now. Thanks for the really clear instructions!
Brate meni nesto lupa kod amortizera, a nije solja menjao sam a i stabilizator sam menjao, bas se cuje DUM kad dodjem na lezeci... ne znam sta moze da bude...😂
Omg! Thank you . I have to change the entire arm every year because of the ball joints . 30.000km and they are gone . I have a renault Laguna and i’am not the richest person. Tommorow i will cange my ball joints because they recomanded this at an evaluation (again) . I costs about 300 euros in parts and laboour to change both arms and 40 euros to change the ball joints myself . So thabk you ! Tommorow i know exactly what to do
Just want to say thank you for this video. Really helped show me what I needed to buy and do. Fitted a new TRW ball joint last night and it went great. Thank you and keep up the good work.
For anyone else looking at doing it, may be obvious to some but taking the entire suspension arm off (really easy to do) makes drilling out the rivets really easy.

Great job! Need to replace mine also. For now I just shot a bit of grease into shot ball joint. It will hold for two, three days.
Oh yeah... she was dry as can be! Older VW's had similar ball joint rivets... I used to just drill the rivet head and knock it off, then tap the remains piece out. Thanks for bringing back those memories! =)
Thomas EXOVCDS i didn’t realise the noise until later but she was definitely asking for lube 😊🤣, satisfying job being able to replace just the ball joint cheer mate 👍👍👍🍺🍻
Good video. With my kangoo the balljoint is studded in no bolts. So drilling it then buying the balljoint only and 3 nuts and bolts shall do the job. I always thought had to buy the whole arm.. just a outter balljoint will be very cost efficient fix
Just wondering if you could feel any feedback through the steering wheel when moving? I have a rotational grind/rub and can feel it the the steering wheel, but no squeek lol! Thank you.
Hello Mate, thank you so much for this video but I'm trying to drill the rebit but the drill won't do the job. Can you please list the drill bit and drill you used. Thanks a lot.
Nice work mate. Can't say I've heard a noise like that from a ball joint before. I haven't had much luck with TRW brake pads in the past, didn't seem to last too long.
Badgertronix thanks mate, me too I could swear that the problem was the strut top mount, I never came across TRW pads here but it’s good to know I normally go for pagid cheers mate 👍👍👍👍
Nice work! Same noises happens to me a week ago. Worst thing is that, in quarantine, you wont get a part so easy now. So i spray some engine oil with medicine needle through rubber sealant, and its cool now- SLAV fixing things :)
I like watching you videos, always educative. Am hearing a knock from the passenger's side on my Megane 3. I jerked my car yesterday, discovered that the arms bushes & track rod end are all gone. Am not sure of my struts & struts mounts, how can I check the condition of my struts? Thanks so much
Matthew Jackson it’s a 3/8 Milwaukee fuel cordless ratchet I paid about £120 from GSF Carparts , very handy indeed 👍👍👍 I’ve got the 1/2” impact too you can see here in this video ua-cam.com/video/H1_AaHZxr8U/v-deo.html
Loved your expertise, this was ground-breaking, you deserve a medal. This control arm looks identical to the 2005 Mk II Megane 6sp Manual hatch, would you know if it is so or not ? thankyou brother in advance.
jonnijames they are very similar you should be able to replace the ball joint the same way, regarding if they if they are ecxacly the same in size I’m not sure 👍
Hi my friend! I have a renault megane mk 2 petrol, I have an engine light on on the dashboard ,I find the fault and repair it ( fuel injector not opening) now the problem is i can't erase the engine light with my OBD II because is telling me to put ignition on without starting the engine but is impossible because I have the card. Any help plz!!
Probably you have solved but to turn on ignition there are 2 ways, one is service mode: insert card and push for 5 seconds start button without pedals, other way push start with pedal brake pressed and a gear inserted
Great job and saved some money... Have you got any fix for Auris mk1 steering column that makes a sound inside the car? Some ppl changed it while car was on warranty but sooner or later it will start make the same noise...
Cars Exposed hello.. Yes it makes the sound ever since i can remember but probably after 100,000km. I think it's a common problem with Toyota. It's sounds like that ua-cam.com/video/Pv7fsncMajk/v-deo.html
Ben Taylor I cant remember the size , I’ve just used a size big enough to drill trough the rivet weakening it as much as I could without touching the suspension arm hole 👍
I paid £13 for the ball joint rather than £80odd 🤗😎, I’ve done the same job in a Ford mondeo grinding it first but those rivets are in it good making impossible to punch them out at least on the floor with limited space to swing the hammer ... cheers 👍👍👍
Christoffer Frödeberg I bought the car with 105k miles on the clock then with 150k miles I replaced the whole suspension arm complete with ball joint because the bushings were perished then now I replaced the ball joint only with 230k miles
Best video on ball joint replacement out of the dozens I’ve seen.

I enjoy watching the video, I own the same Reno Megan Mk 3. Greetings from Serbia :)

Hello brother, can you share with me your experience with the newly fitted TRW ball joints, I wanna fix my Mégane but am not sure of the best brands.
1st. Class instructional video. You have given me great confidence to take on the job... Thank you VERY much...

Great video the best technique so far!
Good work as ever mate. Thanks for sharing all the best Pete
bamboo bushcraft thanks Pete much appreciated it mate 👍👍👍
Great Video. Nice and clear instructions. Thanks for uploading on the Megane 3. I just did mine !
Thank you very much! I have got it on my Mot advisory on my Megane 2
Very clean technique demonstration. Thank you 🙏
cheers mate 👍👍👍👍
great video bro thanks for your hard work

Donatas Kybartas cheers mate and thanks for watching much appreciated 👍👍👍
Just wondering if you could feel any feedback through the steering wheel when moving? I have a rotational grind/rub and can feel it the the steering wheel, but no squeek lol! Thank you.
Great description, BUT take the arm off. So much easier. Just done this job. 30mm socket 21mm spanner
Great job!
Could you use a steel chisel and hammer the ends off the rivets? And then punch the rivet from the bottom? Or does it have to be drilled?
Hello Mate, thank you so much for this video but I'm trying to drill the rebit but the drill won't do the job. Can you please list the drill bit and drill you used. Thanks a lot.

Nice work!

Cheers mate 👍... Parts now is super tricky I really struggled to get a Renault Laguna baco on the road today ... Cheers 👍👍👍
Hi , do you replaced sway bar bushes ?
Thank you !

Great work Igor, it looked like a bit of a fighter at times... 😀😀
Johnny's Speed Shop cheers mate not too bad but to drill those rivets on the floor a bit challenging 😊😅 cheers mate 👍👍👍
How's she goin'? Great repair. That's a neat tip about getting the rivets out!!! They came out pretty slick too. Well done. Take care!!!
Grampie's Workshop thanks mike, definitely the best way to get them out at least on the floor anyway 😊 cheers 👍👍👍
Whats that hand tool you use in 8.58. Looks handy and would save loads of time. Car failed MOT on a few things. This is one of them.

Great job Igor! I've never heard one like that before lol not something you want to hear when you've just got off work 🙈😂😂👍
Niamh Healy 🤣🤣🤣🤣😊 Thanks Niamh, weird noise me too, she was a squeaker cheers 👍👍👍
What size drill bit did you use?
brilliant clear video
Thanks mate 👍👍👍
I like your makita tool !
Very handy indeed It’s a Milwaukee tho 👍👍👍
@@CarsExposed sorry ,milwakee,i saw after
@@CarsExposed you should use angle grinder to cut
Great video as always :)
Mateusz thanks mate I really appreciate it 👍👍👍
Bro I have same issue in renault safrane 2012, can I get the ball joint too. Need you'd advice.
I can’t see why not … I would check with your parts supplier for availability ….

Хорошо сделал!!! Лайк!!!
I have megane coupe mk3 and started making the same noise. Where did you buy the spare ball joint? I cant seem to find it online.
i bought it from Eurocarpoarts
Great job and saved some money...
Have you got any fix for Auris mk1 steering column that makes a sound inside the car?
Some ppl changed it while car was on warranty but sooner or later it will start make the same noise...
TheAlexunit hi mate, I haven’t is it making the noise right now?
Cars Exposed hello..
Yes it makes the sound ever since i can remember but probably after 100,000km.
I think it's a common problem with Toyota.
It's sounds like that ua-cam.com/video/Pv7fsncMajk/v-deo.html
how much pounds of torque i need to tighten the nuts
there is no torque technical data for the ball joint so I tighten them by feel but I would say around 62nm 👍
@@CarsExposed thanks bro
What size drill bit did you use please?
In the end I’ve used a 7mm drill bit 👍
@@CarsExposed brilliant cheers buddy will attempt next week :)
👍👍👍
@@CarsExposed WOW what drill bits did use use hss seem to tickle it after many drill bits got half way through. Bits just dont seem to bite
What size drill bit would you recommend?
Ben Taylor I cant remember the size , I’ve just used a size big enough to drill trough the rivet weakening it as much as I could without touching the suspension arm hole 👍
Indeed way cheaper!
Grinder would have been quicker though! 😋
Good good!
👍👍👍
Exactly what i was thinking. Could have gone to town on it as he was replacing the whole thing. Good video again nonetheless.
I paid £13 for the ball joint rather than £80odd 🤗😎, I’ve done the same job in a Ford mondeo grinding it first but those rivets are in it good making impossible to punch them out at least on the floor with limited space to swing the hammer ... cheers 👍👍👍
What type or brand of new ball joint
I don’t remember I normally get what’s available from eurocarparts or GSF 👍
Exact same noise on my traffic.
Would be wise to apply torque wrench afterwards (-:
How many miles on your car when this happend?
Christoffer Frödeberg I bought the car with 105k miles on the clock then with 150k miles I replaced the whole suspension arm complete with ball joint because the bushings were perished then now I replaced the ball joint only with 230k miles
Change the whole bottom arm, it's easier and cheaper!!!!! What the hell were you thinking.
U could have piersed the rubber boot and sprayed in wd40 and then spray grease, this would of stopped the squeeking for many months
