Whoops, I accidentally mis-scheduled this video and it went up a week early! This means I don't have any video lined up for next weekend :(. However, I do have some pretty awesome ones scheduled for the following weeks, so stay tuned!
You have a deep philosophy in all your teachings. Thank you for sharing your knowledge..very clear and sound. You are the best teacher I came across anywhere..stay blessed..
Your analogy of going to the gym is spot on, bodybuilding is a long commitment Also a set time every day is excellent I prefer early mornings since I’m retired now and then I can play other times during the day I’ve already learned a lot from you Thx so much!
thank you again for the constant quality lessons!! from your 2-5-1 progressions to neo-soul progression i learn so much from your channel. Thank you sensei!!
You' ve got a soothing voice that can make one absorb whatever you say especially the sound tips you give us. I would not have wasted time and money in my teens if I had a teacher like you.
Thank you for the tips.. I am practicing and playing for the past 50 years... basically a church based kb player... would have crossed more than10000 hours of playing. The only thing I would advice that if you transpose and practice you will miss playing many important scales.
A simple but very effective lesson, which reinforces the fact that if you want to become a better piano player, keep subscribing to your channel and keep practicing ! Many thanks for sharing your knowledge in such a likeable way.
are u a music genius...🤐 I'm speechless u should get ur channel some more publicity. transpose was exactly the REAL problem ,why I wasn't good with scales.i used this almost Everytime a play a song or something else... really invaluable tips u got there
Could you please do a video on your understanding of "Negative Harmony". I've noticed it being brought up a lot and have watched a few videos pertaining to it, but I really enjoy your approach and view of music and feel like you would explain it better. Thank you. I love your videos and get a lot from them. :)
Awesome tutorials, thanks so much for your time and helpful tutorials. I struggle with how to put it all together with fills and runs, by any chance do you have a tutorial song started with intro with fills and runs? If not i understand. Thanks, Mike
There's a jazzy happy birthday version (Lessons by Jonny May) that was really good for learning how to play a wholesome happy birthday song. It took me a month to learn but people love it when I play it. The left hand in it is also quite insightful and literally expanded my hand to be comfortable with new chords.
0:40 Well.. theres perfect pitch, which is(by many considered and often mentioned as) among the highest advantages of learning any new skill. Not a shortcut but still a silverbullet.. many/most don't even know they have it till they pick up an instrument
Perfect pitch is usually more of a hindrance than an advantage. Ask anyone who plays a transposed instrument (such as clarinet or sax). I'll take good relative pitch over absolute pitch anyday. But I get what you're saying.
@@MangoldProject I've heard many vocal-coaches make that argument about singing, so I guess it makes sense.. Comment was based on my presumption of it primarily being a Piano Channel, but title is clear enough though so my bad.. I haven't done any real research and wasn't presenting it as a fact, which is why I wrote "considered by many". I really don't think it's a hindrance in Learning! guitar, piano.. but I can see the possibility of becoming a problem for some professional musicians ..but again, I'm no expert. Thanks for your comment and the work you do on your channel, you have made me a better piano player and more importantly: Kept me motivated!
hello i really enjoy your tutorials, they are very helpful. good job. but i will like if you could make them to be a part 1 and part 2, some times i think i most others don-t the remeber the first thing we learn because of are long the videos usally are. thanks greats vids
i just saw your videos earlier this day,and you are my answers to all my curiousity. i'm a begginer pianist and i always wondering if i could have a jazz teacher ans looks like i do have now 😹😹 keep inspiring!
As always, start simple, and start with cases where you know the answer. For example, take a song you know that has sheet music, transcribe it, and then compare to the sheet music.
I actually agree with Jeff Berlin on not using a metronome. It only causes one to feel stressed and results in learning mistakes that have to be corrected later, instead of accepting and embracing a fluid time during the learning period, so it can be a relaxed process with as little frustration as possible. Check this: tinderwetstudios.com/practice-without-metronome/
I think classical music is a great source of inspiration and technique. It's timeless and really challenges every aspect of your playing. Bach is a personal favorite of mine, and has pieces ranging from beginner to advanced (just google "Bach pieces for beginners" or something like that to get ideas - and everything is available online freely!).
Thanks once again. Another great video. I have been helping my daughter (age 6 yrs) learn piano for the last one yr or so. I have not got her admitted to a piano school yet, due to lack of good schools around. I have implemneted three of the five points mentioned by you: transcribe, metronome and regular schedule. I must say, I am already seeing good results. I have 2 questions for you :). I would really appreciate if you can give some directions: 1. couple of great piano lesson books for beginners. 2. i have yamaha p115 digital piano. is that an appropriate one for beginners and intermediate players? or should i go for something else?
It's the strangest thing. I'm trying to click the notification bell, so that I can be notified when you post new videos. However, when I click the bell, i'm unable to complete the task as the notification box disappears, literally seconds after I click the bell.
I've even gone as far as checking all of the channels that I'm subscribed to, in order to select the notification bell for channels of interest. Your channel doesn't show on my list of channels i'm subscribed to. I've been subscribed for years! I'm going to unsub/resub to see if that helps. Unsubbing/resubbing did the trick! Goal achieved & looking forward to more tutelage.
I should've figured that out sooner. Dayumm... lol I've got a lot of little things I'd love to share with the community as well. Things pretty much the entire internet never cared to show and what forced me to spend years figuring out myself.. Piano's a tough instrument.. man Thanks a ton!
Both are essential. For triads and 7th chords, you must familiarize yourself with both. For more complex chords you usually memorize particular voicings that sound good to you (or even particular cadences).
April Teniente Evolving in a musical sense is to be able to surpass ur current level/skill and to progress higher. Eg u are able to play basic chords. Evolving is being able to surpass that level an start playing M7 chords etc. that's what it I'd basically.
Not necessary, but helpful. Less so today when communication has become very visual (UA-cam and so forth), but still useful. Especially if you're going to be a professional musician and need to learn 12 songs for a gig in 5 days.

I heard all these 5 things since I started to play and it keep being the absolute true about play well.
Addendum, use a drum machine app in conjuncture to the metronome to make it less boring. Scales to a sick beat are much more fun 😁
Any recommendations?
That's a damn good idea, I can't believe I haven't thought about that before.

Thanks Dhwani. The channel's growing nicely and will hit the 100k subscriber mark soon, so no problems there :)
MangoldProject So when we use transpose and whats ur opinion about grade system in piano is it necessary
1. You don't use the transpose, you just transpose the actual notes. 2. I'm not familiar with the grade system in piano.
Thanks alot from Saudi Arabia
am really so greatfull for this tutorials they make me fall in love with the 🎹 keyboard over and over... thanks
Sir , really I say that you are so kind to teach the real practice for beginners. Your piano videos are amazing one .Thanks a lot sir

Pls make a left hand intermidiate tutorial and how to make single noted songs(ex: Happy Birthday Song) sound better...

You're welcome.
lots of good advice here but I must take issue with practicing ear deadening exercises like Hanon especially to the regimentation of a metronome.
thank you Sir!
Thanks, but how do i transpose? What rules are there?

Regarding length, I encourage anyone who doesn't like my videos or my production standards to just not watch them.
I can't play with good musicians, I suck at playing and they find it depressing xD.

I can read music but I don’t feel very confident transcribing something I’m playing by ear to ledger lines on a page. What is your recommendation?

Thanks for the videos. Just wondering why sight reading isn't in there?
It's important but not in the top 5 for me.
I wanna to know more about chords voicing. ! please

transcribe. put (thoughts, speech, or data or music) into written or printed form.
Yes.

How do you record your over head angle video?
I hang a camera overhead using a superclamp and a pole used for green screens.

Thanks a ton!
Sure thing. I thought of doing a video on my recording setup at some point.
Do you give individual lessons ?
Unfortunately I do not have time to do so ... (I have a "real" dayjob)
Would you rather practice playing inversions or know the every root chords ?
Both are essential. For triads and 7th chords, you must familiarize yourself with both. For more complex chords you usually memorize particular voicings that sound good to you (or even particular cadences).
Life is a ilfe long commitment. :( :)
nice video

Transposing with a button on a keyboard must be hella confusing for people with perfect pitch.
you talk too much ....
Ok.
Is it necessary to learn how to read music in order to become very good? I really have a hard time reading anything. Not only music!
Not necessary, but helpful. Less so today when communication has become very visual (UA-cam and so forth), but still useful. Especially if you're going to be a professional musician and need to learn 12 songs for a gig in 5 days.
