"verisimilitude's of life" - my man is both a gentleman AND a scholar! 😂 What a great use of that word. Incredible demo as well! Now I have yet another pedal I want because of you lmao
top notch man. I've watched several of these videos today on the Deluxe55 and I'm convinced this is the best Fender Tweed recreation (to my ears anyway). I've been searching for the perfect tweed preamp pedal for years (digital, analog, and tube variants). Based on the videos I watched today, this sounds the best to my ears. That Tele sounded glorious with it and I think it even sounds a little better than your Woodrow tones. They both sound great, but I think this one sounds a bit better, plus it's all analog. Still enjoying your content man. keep it up
Right. Been using the Woodrow since its release and it has been a good recreation of the early tweed amps. Had to try this after watching the video. It sure sounds like a good 5e3 to me. Fingers crossed!
Great sounds, man! Cool rendition of Don’t Stop Believing! I downloaded the IRs for my Line 6 Pod Go today and the Princeton sounds good with the tweed 1x12 and my Greer Lightspeed overdrive in front!
Great presentation and playing....now, if only there was a scene to appreciate the type of music you're hinting at that could be created by this great sounding pedal..... So is this an amp sim like UAFX Dream for example?? If you ran it direct into a DI Box where would you get the IR's from ? Could you run it into say a Headrush FRFR ??
Fabulous playing throughout, & especially interesting to hear the PRS 245! I’m curious if this would be a good choice for my S2 594 going into a Mesa Boogie Cali Tweed, or too similar?? My existing pedals are the Browne Carbon and Atom. Suggestions for number three, please?
Good Lord that sounded great! 2 comments for you. What Studio Monitors do you use, and please start providing Tabs on your videos. You play some awesome licks. Great Job.
I will find out later today - my Deluxe 55 should arrive in a few hours. Judging from this and other videos, the OE pedal does the warm sounds significantly better, it also seems to have a bit more headroom and detail in the edge of breakup tones (lack of headroom is something the first generation, Dream, Ruby, and Woodrow, pedals definitely share - they all have far less than the amps they are modeled after). How far a comparison is valid, is hard to say. The Woodrow mimics both inputs/channels and their patched state which makes it as tricky to dial in as the original amp, the OE pedal gives you easy access to the sounds most people would likely be looking for, but not to every possible setting... Based on the demo of playing into the Blues Jr. I would say without hesitation that the OE pedal works a lot better in front of an amp - the Woodrow really only works into a power amp / effects return or DAW. None of that is meant to be negative, I use the Woodrow since the day it came out, so I do like it, but also see its limitations. Playing into a DAW the Woodrow can be improved dramatically by using proper IRs - as usual the proprietary cab sims by UAD are second to everything, but can luckily be bypassed. And for those who are sensitive to it... of course an analog pedal does not introduce levels of latency that any human could detect.
@@lincolnshaw5667 Well, the short of it: I am taking pictures of the Woodrow for selling it, and I knew that after playing the Deluxe 55 for less than 30 minutes. But please keep in mind that this is valid for me, not necessarily for everybody else. If you are using the microphone channel extensively or love the room simulation i the Woodrow, that might be reasons to keep it. For me, all my assumptions based on the review turned out to be pretty accurate. The warmer sounds have depth and dynamics in the Deluxe 55 while the mids in the Woodrow sound flat. Picking dynamics and reaction to volume changes are significantly better ('amp like' if you wish)... Unsurprisingly, in direct comparison the Woodrow does reveal that it's a digital model, even if certainly one of the better ones. The Deluxe 55 does work perfectly fine in front of an amp (tried a Fuchs ODS II, a Brunetti Singleman, a Matchless Laurel Canyon, and a Peavy Classic) and it takes drive pedals very well (tried a Halcyon Blue, a Lovepedal Eternity, a Rattler MkII, and a Lovepedal Mk2012 - Tonebender I/II style fuzz - so far and they are perfect). I did also do a few quick comparisons with the Amalgam Audio Tonex tone models (which are stunning btw), and the Deluxe 55 holds up just fine. The final comparison (comparing to my Lazy J J20, which is one of the best replicas available) will have to wait, since I lent that to a friend. I would keep the Woodrow, if it had any features that make it competitive (proper presets, MIDI, balanced outputs, a headphone output, a proper IR loader, a noise gate, a proper output EQ...) and other digital products costing less than half of it have, but in typical UA fashion, there is nothing.
Awesome tones and playing! Alex, please do a shoot out with the full sized Revival Drive too, using its tweed derivative settings (two in the manual), and playing with the ‘more’ ‘ghost’ and ‘hi-shelf’, it is possible to do variations on those (best to crank the ‘low’ pretty high! Cheers!
I wonder (here it comes ...) what would happen if you plugged that thing into a real 1959 Tweed Twin 🤔. Would we get a true world ending black hole event? Oh, and I loved your take on Don't Stop Believing.🎸
I have some of the best effect pedals including this one as of tomorrow (12 Origin pedals in all) and I can't play guitar for sh1t which I find quite comical; but I've always loved guitar music and music in general. Who knows, if there's another time when this thought of yours comes creeping into your head, just try saying sod it I'm having a bit of that, what have I got to lose? Whatever happens you will have a great effect pedal that just may inspire you to reach another level in your guitaring...
Have you ever tried the Woodrow from UA? I'm so curious about these two. I have a couple pedals from UAFX. The dream, The Lion, ox stomp ect. Was thinking about getting the Woodrow but this sounds so good in every demo. Might wanna try to add something new to my fleet
I did actually review the Woodrow here: ua-cam.com/video/CZmNDa3qwVo/v-deo.htmlsi=BlbKWBUYvBPYZlKn I’m going to compare them today along with some other Origin Effects pedals
The beginning I was just going from the pedal straight into my interface. I used the tweed IR from Origin Effects and then added a little room reverb to give it some space. That was it! In the second part I went into my fender Blues Jr and miced it with a shure sm7b. Added some EQ and Room reverb and it was good to go! Let me know if you have any questions.
I’ve tried many direct recording alternatives to my tube amps…Kemper, Tonex, many plugins. Nothing could beat my tube amps through my Rock Crusher direct with an IR speaker plugin…until I discovered Origin FX, I have a Revival Drive Custom, Magma57, Deluxe61, Super Vintage and ‘64 Black Panel. Deluxe55 is on the way. Yep, I’m an OE junky. Have all three Halcyons, M-EQ, DCX Bass and Boost, Cali76 Bass and Stacked. That’s my entire direct recording rig using Celestion Speakermix plugin.

Looking forward to the obvious comparison with Woodrow! Feel like this might be winning to be honest.
Awesome ripping at the end by the way! 🔥
Very curious too👍
This was a great watch, your joy and sense of humour really shines through. Stellar tones too.
Great work as usual "tweed guy", I gotta say I'm extremely impressed with their free IR's too man... they are seriously so good.
Great demo Alex! Player enthusiasm and enjoyment counts for so much.
Man! Your playing is always awesome - But absolutely on Fire in this one! 😎👌
Especially with the tele!
WTF was that at 08:40 !?! 🤯👌
Great demo and looked like you were having a lot of fun 👍.
One question though, Does the Revival Drive come close to the tines of the 55?
I know it’s early, but this is the best demo of this pedal IMO. Just ordered one. Can’t wait. Thanks!
I always think of the Stones when I think about tweed tones, so it totally makes sense that you'd be playing a tele. Great demo!
Thank you!
Love to hear you play over this pedal. Match made in heaven.
It really feels like it was made for me haha as egotistical as that sounds.
Excellent demo of this . I have the Woodrow and love it . Maybe I need this one also. Tweeds are great.
Great dynamics, indeed. And midrange is really something special 😮
Great sounds, man! Cool rendition of Don’t Stop Believing! I downloaded the IRs for my Line 6 Pod Go today and the Princeton sounds good with the tweed 1x12 and my Greer Lightspeed overdrive in front!
Thanks so much! The IRs are so good it's crazy.
You’re my favourite demo guy. Great video again.
wow thank you! really appreciate it
This pedal will be with me today. I'm already thinking that this & my Golden Reverberator will be all I ever need :)
What a great video of a great pedal. I enjoyed every second of it and so did you, so it seems. 😊
Thanks! Greetings from the Netherlands. 🧡🧡🧡
That sound really suits your playing!
I think you'd really dig Benson Amps too
This pedal really spoke to me. I would love to try a Benson one day.
Origin simply makes the best analog amp sims. No one else is even close.
They knocked it out of the park on this one.
Been waiting for this! Heeeelll yeaaahhh!!
Amazing review dude!! Inspired and inspiring!! New sub.
Welcome aboard!

So is this an amp sim like UAFX Dream for example?? If you ran it direct into a DI Box where would you get the IR's from ? Could you run it into say a Headrush FRFR ??
You need a cab sim. So you would need an IR loaded pedal. No cab sims in the pedal.

really nice playing. pedal sounds good

This pedal is a holy grail product for me. Couldn’t have dropped at a better time too.
It’s really a top 10 pedal for sure.
Great video! How does the OE Deluxe 55 compared to the UA Woodrow?

@@uwedasler425very keen to see how the comparison goes as I love my Woodrow but am curious to see how this compares

Will do! Ill compare against magma and deluxe61 too

Oh, and I loved your take on Don't Stop Believing.🎸
Video sold me on one.
You won;t be disappointed!
Deluxe55 vs Woodrow´55!!
Very cool! How does it compare the UA Woodrow???
Nuther great video Alex. 👍 Who's the band coverin' the Journey tunes?
Thanks man! It’s actually my cover I put together for this video. Wanted to put it in a 6:8 feel like “Tuesday’s Gone” by Skynyrd.
Very Brad Paisley tones. Love it❤
Thanks man!
I guess I’ll just have to live knowing this exists but until my playing matches it , it’s not a priority. Great playing and singing

Great video. I’d be interested in a side by side with the deluxe61, my origin effects habit is making my wallet sad 😂.

@SuperdangerStudios awesome can't wait. Thank you for the reply
Sounds great! If price were the same, would you choose this, or the Origin Revival Drive?
This is a really cool sound but I think I like their Magna pedal a tiny bit better. Tough call though..😢
What is your 3 favourite setup with this pedal ? Can we have a idea what are you used to make sound in this video ? Thanks
If it was possible to turn down the bass a liiiiittle bit I’d buy it!
Great tones!! Which reverb are you using?
Thank you! Using sound city studios by ua. Using the guitar live PA setting on reverb on a separate bus.
Seems like you can plug into a power amp and have a 55 deluxe sound.
Absolutely!
I couldn't work out whether you liked that pedal or not.
So that is a 5E3 circuit. I have reverted to the Octal preamp tubes 5A3 circuit!😁👍

Ok?
@@morganghetti tldr: Original Effects makes awesome stuff.
I'm getting tired of all these 'new wheel' inventions...pfff... nothing personal.
haha I get it! If you arent into tweed pedals than this probably isnt going to pique your interest.
Falcon pedal just as good!
