Tip: Use the companion angle (rec tool) as your helper ruler on the left to avoid awkward cuts! When using the Recs tool, use the Triangle as your helper ruler. This tool also makes 2:1 ratio (2 x high as wide) split rectangles. Very, very handy. Will save you lots of time. If you want to save even more time for manifold blocks, you can calculate the size of a rectangle that is produced by both side triangles. Make your cut from the strip width indicated, cut two, shove them together at the angle, and measure the rectangle. Example: A 3" block requires a 2 5/8" rectangle x 3.5" strip. I cut a 2 5/8 strip (far easier to measure for 1 cut) (folded for mirror images), and then I use my Stripology ruler to subcut into 3.5" sections. A little reverse engineering--make one awkward sized cut using 1/8ths and then make your strip cuts which are on the 1/2" measure. Now when you make on your rectangle, you are lining your tool up once, and making one cut producing 2 pairs of mirrored sides. Tip: Creative Grids Itty Bitty Eighths rulers are great for making such initial cuts because the 1/8th mark runs continuously (as a dashed line). It's a ruler I reach for when engineering my Henry Ford production method for manifold blocks with 1/8th's need. Make the "nick" by eyeballing. Also, the Marti Michell Deluxe Corner Trimmer has a Peaky and Spike corner where you could trim the top of the side triangle (v. the bottom).
