I lived full time for a long time I was brought up in a static caravan …. I loved it …it was a residential sight that was 12 months so had mailing address etc …. It was affordable in comparison to some places :)
Our site has all year round residents. The rules are 15 years for a van then it’s assessed every year if the van is tidy then it’s ok as there are some over 20 years. Our site fees are £2800 a year we are in Ayrshire Scotland 🏴 great to learn the difference between different sites thanks Ivan…
With the way things are going, many will have no choice but to move into a caravan. The costs of renting bricks and mortar are getting beyond many people's budgets.
You find something that works for you, enjoy it. But I would say see how it is getting through winter first before setting anything in stone. But I think you are happy from all we can see and you've found a place that really does work for you!
I must say l never even considered caravan living until l started to watch your channel, l think it’s a perfect option if you want to downsize or just have a base if you want to sell up and travel…
@@vesiletekas5927 This is something I will be doing . I'm 65, my 94 year old mum lives with me, and has done for 15 tears when I stopped work to look after her, therefore very little earnings, savings or pension contributions. Luckily I own my house so when mum is no longer here, and I plan on staying single, it's a caravan for me. I do think we need communities of tiny houses like they have in America. ....perfect for a lot of singletons!
I lived in a mobile home growing up. The distinct difference between a mobile home and a static is MHs are double walled and insulated. Statics are single wall. Me and my now wife had a caravan at anderby creek and lived there for a year as well as renting a static over winter in Sutton on sea. You need to be careful with the clothes in the wardrobe. It sweats and can turn your clothes mouldy, however we didn't have central heating. Halogen heaters are great btw. 👍
We don’t have central heating and find oil filled heaters work well. We used 500w heaters which only cost a few pence an hour. The bigger 2k ones end up being expensive. We only have a couple of years left on our van before we purchase a newer one. If we had longer we would certainly have central heating and further insulation fitted.
The best thing you should do is get a dehumidifiers I live in a small flat and it’s a godsend. It draws in the damp air and out through the filter comes the warm air you will be surprised when you empty the tank and the water it collects
The company who own our site also own 5 other sites and each site has its own rules. Our site you can be on 20 plus years so long as caravan is in good condition. Another site states max 20 years. Another site recently purchased by them have said all caravans over 15 years must be taken off site. Even though the contract with the previous owners said no age restriction. Too many rules with caravan sites. Central heating a great idea but would you benifit if your caravan has little insulation. Heater panels better i think. Keep the vlogs coming.
Always make sure you get everything in writing before you buy........and once bought forget about the money, its a life choice nothing more, residential sites you pay council tax aswell as site fees, i love being in mine all throughout the year.
hi ivan. when i first got married in 1980 i lived on a what was termed as a park home site . my home had a parkray fire for heating it ran radiators and provided hot water . i don’t think they have this option anymore it was as snug as a bug in winter but condensation was a issue just a bit of back story for you x
Hi Ivan, nice interesting video, but I think your wasting your money on a 500 watt panel heater unless your going to heat a very small space, you need something like minimum 2kw oil filled radiator with thermostat which really do retain the heat, but again would struggle in a caravan. Hope you get sorted. Cheers Steve
25% discount currently only applies to single occupancy for residential park homes , this is under review apparently to be scrapped under the labour government.
would think a panel heater would just send heat to the roof, look at 400w or 500w fan heaters, you can direct the heat straight onto you.we have some 500w ones but once warm will run at 400w so wont break the bank, no idea how good they are in a van because we use them in house bedrooms.
ALWAYS INTERESTING IVAN.
Thank you Michael

Watched a lot of your videos past couple days, thanks for posting these. I’m only just starting to think about doing this. Great info 👍🏻
Thanks Ivan, great information for anyone thinking of buying a caravan. Thanks for sharing.

It's financial suicide.

You have chosen lovely areas to be!

Great alternative options for living, love the content. Always good to keep your eyes open 🎉 , enjoy x
YOU DO NEED TO KEEP YOUR FEET ON THE GROUND and the way things are we all need to be aware nothing stays the same any more so your right

You can get oil filled radiators which are low wattage and being oil filled will stay warmer even when switched off
Thanks Ivan, lots of very interesting info'. Have a great Sunday. Take care and all the best. Stevie

Have you looked into getting a solar panel etc. Might be a big outlay but hopefully should then supply you with free electric.

Hi Ivan
We are thinking about selling up and buying a van. What are you going to do in the months you can not stay at your park.
Olla heater electric for a quick warm up ,supposed to be cheep to run
Go with oil filled rads
My mum had a new willerby thirty footer back in the nineties, we were told 15years shelf life of a van
Electric heated body warmer, keep yourself warm. Think you can get slippers that so same.
Can you put a solar panel on your van
hi mate love the content
Glad you enjoy it!
uk is screwed mate, think about usa or spain if you both can @@CaravanLifeUK
Plus the site i am on there's no age limit to the caravans
can you have a soler panel
The question needs to be how much is a fully winterised
Other campsites might be cheaper but their rules may differ
Do u ever feel safe .u could b kicked off at any time
Same with renting a flat you get 2 months notice. Also living in a flat would mean being less financially strong = less security
Not as safe as owning your own home and being financially comfortable enough to maintain it. But some arent in that position.
