Thanks so much for watching and commenting, and I'm glad to hear you like the detail, I'll be carrying on like that!

Mechanical steering looks the way to go. Not sure about the pivot point you suggest though. Throws wheel forwards and backwards. Would a rectangle block pivoted on the axle line be possible / better?

I've gone for a point in front of the axle to give a bit of a self centering effect like a shopping trolley wheel, thats my thinking behind that! Thanks for watching and commenting Derek!

@@steveeng1826 I think if one wheel has more pressure/drag on it the steering will turn to that side. Shopping trolley castor works because there's only one point of drag that will always pull the wheel straight. Your design would be ok if the pivot point was *well* forward of the wheels, so you'd effectively have a trolley castor again. Disclaimer: I really have no idea but it sounds good to me :)

Hey, thanks for watching and feeding back on the concept! What you say would be true if I only had one wheel, it would definitely pull the steering since the tyre is completely outside where the steering pivot is. But I'm hoping that since I have two wheels the forces will largely balance. We shall see!

@@steveeng1826 Sure, but the pressure on each side is not always gonna be equal, especially if the track surface is a bit rough. I guess it depends how well your steering servo can handle any disturbances, but at the huge speeds you're dealing with there is very little room for error. In other news I went to the supermarket yesterday and my trolley had a shuddering front wheel. I think that happens because the four wheels are no longer in the same plane, so three wheels are contacting the ground properly and bearing most of the weight, and the shuddering wheel is left slightly floating. This problem is probably not relevant to your case since your tires have some softness to them, but something to keep in mind. btw did you see my earlier comments asking if you wanted to try my no-code arduino thing? For some reason UA-cam seems to be deleting any comment where I mention it lately.

@@iforce2d Hey, I agree there are ways it might not work, but its hard to know for sure without trying it! I will keep the rear suspension so that should stop me 3-wheeling. No I didn't see your earlier comments actually, if you want to message me directly I'm on instagram under stephenwallis14 👍
