Are squeaky toys degrading to dogs? How much does a goldfish think its worth? Do chameleons suffer from self image problems, and why do stick insects make better conversationalists than spaniels? Potential pets face their fear of being left on the shelf.
Nick Park’s Creature Comforts took the classic documentary style and applied it to the lives of wild animals and pets, matching a cast of clay characters with human voices to charming effect. Originating from Nick’s 1989 Academy Award®-winning short film, Creature Comforts was unique for using unscripted vox-pop interviews with the British public in a stop motion series that has become an Aardman classic.
The success of the short film led to two TV series, which broadcast on ITV, and an iconic series of commercials for the Electricity Board’s ‘Heat Electric’ campaign. Creature Comforts also went across the pond to the USA where the unique format was used once again to tell real-life stories from people in America. The claymation characters portray very human traits and contemplate absurdities of the universe such as, ""Do bald eagles ever feel self-conscious?"" and ""What makes pigs feel sexy?""

She’s actually voiced by an Irish Woman who came into the studio and was asked to talk about how difficult it was to find a boyfriend that was good for you and would stay around.

I amazed at some of the things I hear. Really sounds like something a talking animal would say.
My guess:
Cockatoo: A pet shop staff who likes cute animals, but is afraid of snakes (but is OK with spiders, my guess is that the pet shop had tarantulas)
Guinea pig: A kid visiting the pet shop who has a pet cat named Chester
White cat: A worker for animal adoption
Chameleon: A woman visiting the pet shop looking for a pet
French bulldog: A dog person
Stick insect: A pet invertebrate enthusiast
Snake: An Irish guy who loves reptiles, probably looking for a pet snake himself
Cockatiel: A pet shop staff who loves cute animals and tortoises
Turtle: A guy looking at pet beds
Goldfish: A woman looking for pet fish
Personally, I think the Chameleon and Goldfish might have been talking about dating. Part of the fun with this series is how the context of the original interview changes when you make an animal say it.

As a pet owner I love this one. Have had pets my whole life except when I went to boarding school.
UA-cam kindly recommended the 2018 Christmas special and I have watched nothing but Creature Comforts since. I forgot how much I loved it and it's a perfect way to spend my Xmas eve. Cheers all x

I'm here to confess... that was me saying that line :-) I don't think I've ever beaten it since! I cannot remember why on earth my wife and I started arguing about dogs and stick insects, but once we did, it was sort of inevitable that they would turn us into a stick insect and a dog!

The dog and the stick insects were the best part of this one! I was cracking up at them...
I held a tarantula once at a pet shop. She was scared of me at first but then wasn’t. Not scared of spiders any more thanks to her. She was a Chilean Rose tarantula.

I can relate to all of them, sometimes you can't appreciate your solitary life until there's someone your living with that you can't stand, I think most people need someone there because they can't stand being alone.

How did you manage to get these people to say what you might've wanted them to say?
I don't think they wanted them to say anything particular. They will have asked them a question but the answers from a question can be very random
probably a combination of interviewing people about pet shops in general, and also asking them about dating and finding soulmates, and splicing the answers together to get amusing hybrids

I hate never seen it. I dont know if its bc it is not transmited in Mexico or other reason but it looks great
