Hershey's bar and gun😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
FAH, would love to see something about Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland possibly unifying soon(ish). I know UK folks may be frowning on that but I'm just kinda really wishing Ireland becomes whole again. I'm old enough to remember when Germany was 2 places, and then it became 1. it was a heart-tugging, teary-eyed moment of human history. don't the Irish want something like that for themselves?
Hilarious ❤❤❤❤❤ what states are you all coming to?!
See you in NY!
I'm surprised the man at the counter didnt say "I'm actually irish myself"
He can't bear the thought of being false again
Actually, we only claim that on St Paddy's Day, when douse ourselves with green body paint, wear green clothing, and get blinding drunk...just like in Ireland
sidebar: when the Colonists initiated a violent, military action to overthrow the established, sovereign, legitimate government of the land, we called that War of Independence. When several southern states initiated a violent, military action to overthrow the established, sovereign, legitimate government of the land, we called that an Insurrection.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@RamblinRick_ Ah my friend you fail to see the most important fact differentiating, when the United Colonies of America rebelled they did the smart thing and won. When the poor sods who decided to go and start the Slaveholder's Rebellion rebelled they made the key mistake of not winning, this as we can see in hindsight, was a poor decision from a PR standpoint and has resulted in them failing to claim a their rebellion as a war of independence due to the fact that they remain firmly dependent.
My least tactful moment was when I was in Dallas around St. Patrick's day, and I was getting thoroughly jaded by just how green and faux-Irish everything was, when someone actually said that to me. I responded, "Oh, how long have you been here? You don't have the accent." They said "Oh, I haven't been there myself..." at which point I found myself bursting out "Pedigree is for dogs!" I immediately apologised profusely but they wouldn't talk to me for the rest of the trip.
Hersheys bar and a handgun. The American version of a balanced diet

And of the two, it's somehow the chocolate bar that tastes worse

"It was the colonizers who got independence from the colonizers?" 🔥👏
I said this to an American girl on July 4th one time and she was baffled lol
**Joins standing ovation** 👏
As an American, I have never thought of it this way and my mind is blown.
Yeah, imagine if the Native Americans got independence from the colonizers, things would look completely different.
Like Rhodesia in1965?
‘Kinda like your Canada I suppose…’
Canadians everywhere fainting!
I mean, the Canadian colonies were asked, but said, 'uh, no thank you.' (and then fought a war a couple of decades later)
And the Canadians won the War of 1812. Thank the gods for that! 😅

@KatharineOsborne well, the english-americans did invade and try to take over english Canada in 1776, so not quite asking.

Dang right you don't just buy fireworks over the counter of any old shop in America. You go to the county line and buy them from a shipping container turned into a shop called."Crazy Dan's Nuclear Fireworks" like God intended.
😂 too true
lol!
What are you on about? I have 3 fireworks stands within 1500 linear feet (about 500m) of my house lmfao.
I mean in the off season I have to drive like 2 hours to get them but still
If you live in Pennsylvania, you just go to the totally legal fireworks store. If in NY or NJ, you go over the state line to the totally legal PA fireworks store. (Not sure about MD or OH as I don’t live near those borders.). Used to be you went to Canada to get them (moments of concern when the 4-H trip bus was checked at the border-or got them from Canadians coming down to the Grand Prix at Watkins Glen. We were so excited as kids when someone threw us a pack of firecrackers when we gave directions to the track).
Funniest comment here 😂
'Try living next to them'. Fair 😂😂
How?
You don’t get fireworks over the counter in the US! You get them out of a large tent set up in the store parking lot like a civilized person

"They didn't even bother dressing up for us" is perhaps the most hilarious thing I've heard about the American Revolution vs. the Irish struggle to get the Brits out.
We sell our fireworks in sketchy roadside stands. Pretty much anyone with a pulse and most of their fingers can buy them.
I think this was the intended joke - which seems to have gone over the yanks head 😂
“Imagine being able to buy something as dangerous as that just over the counter”
is an amazing Chekhov’s Gun! 😂
YES THANK YOU
It is pretty obvious how much damage fireworks could do to a counter and the store it is in. So fireworks are available in the parking lot and you buy them over the folding table in a temporary store. I guess the parking lots in Ireland aren't as big so you don't see those temporary stores over there. If you got the space, who wouldn't take sensible precautions to protect buildings and furniture?!
Not quite that simple despite what some people say;). There is a Federal law requiring the shop call a hot line for a quick check before selling the gun but, so long as you have proper ID and don't have any red flags (criminal convictions for example), you can usually get through the process in as little as 2-3 hours in some states. Other more... (can you call them liberal when they have strict laws?) states it can take months or even never if the local political machines doesn't sign off on the approval.
A chekhovs gun is I suppose not entirely incorrect as it is the concept all elements that come up should be relevant to setting something up, tho id rather call it a "setup for a quickly paid of joke punchline"
Now Gun Shows even have rules requiring background checks "if you sell guns predominantly to earn a profit"
The Supremely Corrupt Court will probably throw out the new rules and existing background check requirements because reducing the availability of individuals who can form an unstable armed mob is too much of an intrusion on their concept of Presidential power.
This has nothing to do with the sketch, but… On Monday a young girl was at my work doing an internship and she told me that from time to time she watches you, too. It was so special to me because I had never just met someone who knows and likes Foil Arms and Hog “in the wild”, only on the internet or at your gigs. ☺️ She was surprised to hear you are doing live shows and I told her you’ll be coming to Germany next year.

Irish lad went to history class!! Good on him! I sensed the handgun joke looming…!
No comedy sketch about US 'freedom' would sound complete without a gun reference.
My blind granny saw the handgun joke looming.
It’s adorable how you can see the cogs turning in his little head. I bet you’d hear a faint grinding noise if you were standing close by, he was working that hard.
bahaha
As with many things in the US, fireworks regulations vary vastly from state to state and even within a state. This makes any local/state level attempt to regulate fireworks kind of pointless, because you can always just drive to the next area that doesn't regulate them. A good example of this is the city of Chicago bans the sale of fireworks, but just across the border in Indiana there's a giant fireworks store.
That's why freedom wins! If Chicago really cared, they would have check points set up, like California does for fish. Instead, Chicago wants to blame IN for its problems rather than fix the problem internally. They never seem to be able to explain why Indiana doesn't have the same problems despite having less regulations.
Fireworks are totally banned in Massachusetts, but across the border in New Hampshire there are huge fireworks stores. In New Hampshire, the legality of fireworks varies from town to town. Massachusetts State Police have been know to stop cars crossing the border and seize fireworks.
It's like fireworks are a microcosm for how all of the US is run 😂
"Don't think about it too much," words to live by for any public holiday. 😅
You could see the "handgun" punchline coming from a mile but it hit the target anyway.
“You’re like the computer game on easy mode” 😂😂😂!!!!!!
And then what a finish! (So bonkers to non-Americans)
Most of the colonists in the American colonies considered themselves loyalists, rather than patriots, so it wasn't terribly easy.
Bonkers to some of us Americans, as well :)
Bonkers and untrue. You absolutely cannot "just buy a handgun over the counter." Anyone who thinks you can obviously never has tried.
What’s funny is all the Americans trying to explain it. 😆
Brilliant 😂 I'm beginning to think that the Irish lad's default behavior is just a facade so that he can have some fun while throwing in some passive aggressive comments. Sei schlau, stell dich dumm (Be smart, play dumb) as we say in Germany.

Great upload today. Appreciate the nod to US history. Our revolt arose when Britain decided to levy taxes on the colonists to pay for the costs of maintaining a military presence here. Taxation without representation was the battle cry. Now, independent as we are and representation in Congress as we have, we still grumble about taxes. Go figure!
I appreciate the smiles and joy your sketches bring to me. You truly make a positive difference for so many. Keep up the good work.
Colonisers fighting for independence from colonisers - I'd never thought about it like that! 😂
Brilliant sketch lads!
The yanks call it 'The War of Independence' but it was really a small civil war for Britain, against British people in the colonies and there were quite a number who didn't want 'independence', who were killed for it, hence why so many fled to Canada.
More like lawyers and smugglers (“smuggling” being defined by Oliver Cromwell as British colonists buying from Dutch traders, meaning that basically everyone in the 13 colonies who had money was engaged in smuggling since Dutch goods were cheaper) trying to gain independence from tax men and German mercenaries (George III hired Prussian soldiers to put down the rebellion) and British nobles (who got high officer positions on the basis of birthright).
A few weeks ago I had to give a talk at school about the 4th of July. Even though I am German, I was just as confused as the Irish lad 😂
Lol
Just think what those Prussian soldiers were thinking when they got hired by George III to fight in the 13 colonies

There are layers of understanding here - on the surface it is like 'ha, ha, that's dumb' - then it is 'wait a moment, that's dumb.. is it not?' - then it progresses to 'when you really think about it, shift perspective a little bit, allow the dumb thought to sink in, there is a depth of irony, wisdom and enlightenment awaiting, like a shark waiting to bite you in the arse'. Irish lad paid attention in history and geography class. He should try for a teaching job.
He'd be a great teacher on the school of life 😮
I wouldn't recommend a teaching job in the US for his own safety and well-being. Last year, one teacher was shot in the hand and chest by an angry 6 year old and she sued the school administration for not taking the multiple warnings earlier that day seriously. They replied back saying she can't sue because it was a work related injury and she had to file for worker's comp.
Luckily a judge was smart enough to tell the school administration that getting shot on the job shouldn't be considered an inherit risk for an elementary school teacher and her lawsuit was able to proceed.
@@thenovicenovelist That doesn't sound nice. Though I believe Irish lad would be the students favourite and nobody would purposely harm him. One of the most dangerous things I ever experienced as a teacher, though not in America, was a kid who lit a whole box of firework in the classroom. Luckily another kid was smart enough to throw it out the window, but it landed on the grass outside of my classroom. Scared the hell out of the kids. 🙈
Boys, in Wisconsin you can buy as many fireworks for the firework shop as you want. No questions asked.

Um, you can buy fireworks over the counter.
There might be parts of the country where you can't, but you can where I am.
Yeah. Most states allow the purchase of fireworks, but according to CBS News Massachusetts banned the private sell of them and some states like Vermont and Illinois limit what kind of fireworks you can buy. Although other states probably have their own individual limits too. And some of the really dangerous fireworks have federal bans against them. So, maybe Irish lad is hanging out in Massachusetts or he's looking for some very serious fireworks.
Yeah like most places it's normal, but not those places where like everything is illegal. Even mortars are going back to being pretty commonly available these days.
Around here they're illegal in most of the cities, so they sell them just outside of town on county land. But they're still mostly sold in pop-up shops. Regular stores are limited to confetti poppers.
They’re selling fireworks right now in a tent outside the mall. Legalities vary by state.
Just for clarity: We have huge fireworks depots all over the country and you can buy pretty much anything "over the counter". Handguns, on the other hand, require a background check, which can take days, and sometimes a waiting period even when the background check takes minutes, and some people are ineligible. And they aren't typically sold in places that sell candy and other convenience items (though they used to be). Just making sure everyone knows it's not actually THAT easy to get a handgun here.
Varies wildly depending on what state you're in (both the fireworks and the handguns)
You spotted it was comedy, right?
