Clean up the streets of SF first. Tent City is not attracting any tourists. Most Chinese are going to Thailand where they don't require Visas, and are friendly to Chinese unlike the US.
Even locals don't feel safe in San Francisco.
san francisco is now a terrible place, i saw streets and streets of empty shops for leases etc. I visited first times in the late 80s as young man, a few years back i visited again, it is no good.
china cities and provinces are 100000% better than San francisco and LA.
i hope she learned from china and use it methods . San Francsico needs to open big door to attract chinese tourists and investment and exports products to china. San Francisco has an advantage because it is the home town of American chinese. security is the problem in San francisco.

Why was over half of this conference about pandas? She talked about using their engineers for a panda buildout; how about having their engineers bring over that Shanghai EV infrastructure, along with a fleet of EVs? Better yet, set up an EV plant in the Bay Area. UBS, a Swiss firm, said Chinese EVs are both better and cheaper than legacy auto EVs. Even better: have the Chinese build low-cost housing in SF to address the homeless problem.
Unfortunately, the federal government has final say over these decisions (national security, you know). Biden is currently trying to start WW3 on 3 fronts.

The problem is not Flight, It only take me 30 min drive to SF and I don't go there in last 5 years. The problem is homeless and crime. I remember last visit every street I walked have smell of urine.
If you don't have a clean house, don't invite guest. It only damage our reputation, I have been in Shanghai I think people from there will be disappointed on SF. I am not as proud as a resident of Bay area as before myself.
I was graduated from SFSU but right now i dont want to see a city with beautifull views and sceneries wreck by crooks politicians .

As much as I disagree with Mayor Breed and Governor Newsom on so many issues, I praise them for being the exception amongst American politicians in trying to build friendly, productive relations with China instead of demonizing and threatening them.
