Interesting how the Chernobyl and Challenger “accidents” happened 3 months apart as a result of the same arm’s race under similar preventable circumstances.
I would definitely love a "Sci Guys made me x" collection. I noticed I had ADHD and was stuck in an abusive relationship thanks to your podcast. All the love to you guys!
I remember watching it in my classroom. Mrs Haflitch had wheeled in a monster tv on a rickety trolley, warned us all to stay away from it lest someone be crushed, and that was the most excitement anyone had expected. When it happened, none of us understood what had happened. Except maybe Mrs Haflitch, she just look confused and for once had nothing to say. Then she shut off the tv, said we'd talk about it later, and we spent the rest of the day in the library.
Mum told me that I was watching it at school in England. I have no memory of watching it live. I was ten years old. I do remember dad coming home early from work and sitting watching replays on the tv. We didn’t have a vcr so we’re reliant on the live tv news bulletins. Dad is a physicist so I remember him focusing on each clip shown.
Oddly enough I think I already put a story about watching the Challenger explosion with the rest of my elementary school as a kid in another video. Glad to finally hear more about it. All we ever heard about was O rings but never really any explanations of what that meant. Or that they were told not to launch by the ROCKET ENGINEERS!! How dare they not listen to the Rocket Engineers.
I was in IPS when my teacher left the room and returned, clearly shook up. I remember so many details about it especially from the media.. so it wasn’t an accident? OK, I am listening sounds interesting and I wish I was in live stream. Love you. 25:13
I can’t believe how poorly researched this is. Firstly the Challenger did not explode, the fuel tank disintegrated and then the shuttle was torn apart due to the aerodynamic forces. And the last part about the astronauts dying has been known to be wrong for years. We know that at least some of the astronauts survived the break up and were conscious enough to activate their emergency oxygen systems.
What's your favourite planet?
Jupiter 😋
Saturn cause of the hexagon it has
Earth, because all my stuff is there.
Saturn is pretty cool
shut up Pluto is my ultimate fav but i also love Jupiter and Saturn

Was this another “submersible” related incident relatively…
Whenever you get morons caring more about money or prestige, overriding people who do have expertise, you always get problems.
Where would the world be without greed and bigotry...
I feel called out at the start of the episode since i'm autistic, adhd, and a bit gay xD
PLEASE make that shirt, i would sell my left thumb for it!
As a gay autistic person, those shirt ideas are brilliant
Yall so rude 😂
I would love the autism shirt but a adhd/autism/gay shirt would be awesome.
