  • "I start every film feeling completely out of my depth...and like I want to go home!" Actor Jeremy Irons shares stories and insights from his five-decade career. Part of BAFTA New York's In Conversation series www.bafta.org/new-york/our-ev...
    Jeremy Irons' biography:
After training at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, Irons began his acting career on stage in 1969. His first major film role came in 1981 with The French Lieutenant’s Woman, for which he received a BAFTA nomination in 1982. In the same year, Irons also received a BAFTA nomination for perhaps his best-known performance, as Charles Ryder in the multi-BAFTA-winning television series Brideshead Revisited. Irons made his New York debut in 1984 and won a Tony Award for his Broadway performance opposite Glenn Close in The Real Thing.
In 1990, Irons played accused murderer Claus von Bülow in Reversal of Fortune, winning multiple awards for his performance, including an Oscar for Best Actor. Other film credits include The Mission (1986), Dead Ringers (1988), Die Hard: With A Vengeance(1995), Lolita (1997), The Lion King (1997), Being Julia (2004), Appaloosa (2008), and award-winning independent feature Margin Call (2011).
Irons’ most recent films include High-Rise (2015), the JG Ballard adaptation from director Ben Wheatley; The Man Who Knew Infinity (2016), directed by Matthew Brown; Race (2016), directed by Stephen Hopkins, based on the true story of Jesse Owens and the 1936 Olympics; and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), directed by Zack Snyder, playing Alfred Pennyworth. In December 2016, Irons stars alongside Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard in the adaptation of Assassin’s Creed, directed by Justin Kurzel.

He's got one of the most alluring voices I've ever heard. After all this time I still have a big crush on him. 🙈

He is very handsome and a terrific actor, one of the best, but his voice is his best feature. His beautiful British accent is wonderful. For me, he is the quintessential Englishman. This is a very interesting interview. Thank you for the upload.

@@blindbookworm8019 "Too" slim? What would you call that, negative reinforcement? It's nobody's business how much he weighs. Why not focus on what he's talking about instead?

@@picklesthewise I watch him a lot. I’m a fan. I just thought he looked slimmer. And I’m not the only one that said that.

@@blindbookworm8019 Cool, and you're not the only one I told to knock it off about. It just seems really dirty that people call themselves fans and yet say negative unimportant things under the guise of that. I'm a fan of Melissa McCarthy, but I wouldn't comment under an interview of hers that she was looking really fat. That's just rude, no matter which way you slice it.

Terrible interviewer. Enough with the insincere "amazing" compliments. Surely more time was afforded to research insightful compliments. Additionally, that chair set-up with Jeremy holding on to the mic and glass the entire time could cause the poor guy tendonitis!
