This video was so good! 💜 Great info and research, great reading and editing, plus some humor still snuck in there with all the informative stuff. Probably my fave series, and these collections have had me similarly giddy. When we got Advance Collection, my dream of the DS game collection finally looked possible. Though I still doubted it; we've been let down too many times before. Dominus Collection has been the number one thing I've wanted ever since collections like this became a thing ages ago. My favorite games: on modern platforms accessible to all. Playable on monitors or big screens, with achievements and trophies, etc, etc. It's SUCH good news in fact that I'm not sure it has quite set in to my brain (like dealing with traumatic loss, but the complete reverse of that.)
3D Castlevania Collection could be Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness, Lament of Innocence, Curse of Darkness and Judgment. I felt that's a good lineup for it.
Honestly the dominus collection is great but the fact that they released a remake and the original of haunted castle is a massive w for me I love m2 solely by remaking the adventure and haunted castle
I'm hoping that we'll eventually get a new collection with Rondo and Symphony, because Requiem is just lazy. It's just the PSP versions on a console, probably because that was quicker. Rondo has some annoying emulation problems (you can't unsee them once you notice them) and Symphony lacks the legendary original voice acting. Also, they didn't even include the Rondo of Blood remake.
@@jokkemursula8731 i think dracula x chronicles would be a good substitute for a collection. since that itself is a compilation of rondo of blood, its remake, and sotn.
@@supersmashbro596 if they can do a little more work on it, sure. both Rondo and SotN had bugs unique to that version, with those fixed it'd be a solid way to play them, the best official way to play SotN at any rate. and the Rondo Remake in DXC is pretty underrated. like the other guy said, Requiem was very lazy, they just hacked the bonus games out of DXC and called it a day, the full thing with proper care paid to porting it well would be a winner.
I'm still in shock and awe that they even put out a DS Collection after years of no news from Konami, but yeah, I'd also love to see remasters of the 3D games cuz' Capcom already did X7 and X8 for X Legacy Collection 2.
Even if Konami is just focusing on remakes and bringing lost games to modern consoles, I’m all for it. Silent Hill 2 remake looks like it’s gonna be great, MGS delta will also probably be good, and them bringing all these Castlevania games back (with a goddamned remake of Haunted Castle like wtf go off M2) is awesome. I hope after this wave of bringing their series to modern day they shift to make some new experiences. The biggest one being I would absolutely love to have a new Castlevania game. With how the metroidvania genre has skyrocketed and evolved in the last decade I think an official game could cook so hard.
There is no reason or excuse why Konami should not be producing the 3D collection for all 6 3D titles including vampire Killer for MSX redoing Legends and Resurrection and creating either a new 2D or 3D original game. Preferably a 3D game with both classic platforming action mixed with exploration. The technology has caught up it's time to get it done.
all the metal gear remasters and castlevania collections are cool and all..but remember when gradius was like a flagship series to konami? they were celebrating all their franchises in parodius and the vic viper appeared in almost every konami game in some way. where is a modern gradius collection? there is no konami redemption arc yet!
Im pretty out of the loop. Didn't even know they released the new DS collection. Already have the first 2 collections. That's an instant buy for me. I've played this series since the late 80s... Thanks, my dude.
i just got lament of innocence and curse of darkness, about halfway through lament now and id love them in a collection with some nice QOL additions. not crazy about the level design in lament but the bosses are super fun and the story’s pretty cool so far. excited for curse, heard nothing but good things so far :D
3D Castlevania collection is a day 1 purchase for me, should it ever happen. I never got the chance to play the N64 games, but the PS2 Castlevanias alone are already worth it.
If Symphony of the Night ever gets ported to Nintendo Switch it will be an instant buy for me. I am playing the Dominus Collection for the first time and I love it. Im waiting for my Advance Collection to arrive. I have mixed feelings about Lords of Shadow. For some reason that game didn't click with me. Same with Mirror of fate. I feel that the older Castlevania games are better imo.
While I do like this video, I'm really sad you didn't mention M2 at all, as they are the unsung heroes of Castlevania's modern renaissance, developing all of the collections mentioned in the video. They specialize in retro emulation and in my opinion, are some of the best in the business, with them also working with companies like Sega for stuff like Sega Ages, Genesis on Switch Online, and even the arcade titles in modern Yakuza games. They even developed both Castlevania: The Adventure Rebirth on WiiWare and Haunted Castle Revisited!
would be very cool and awesome if they for some reason made a collection of the goemon games (particularly the 4 super famicom games and 2 n64 games) but that would be very unlikely, a girl can dream though 😔
They should release Castlevania Chronicles, saturn version of SOTN,the wii Castlevania rebirth and vampire killer for msx in a cv games in a collection. Im sure they will make a 3-d collection which ill pass on and found i only liked LOS 1. Im reality i been waiting for a SOTN sequel in 2-d for a console forever ,but thats a pipe dream now. Konami will prob milk the metal gear series and remake MGS1 and 2 next. But well see.
I'll admit, as someone who is used to emulation, I saw no reason to get the first two Castlevania collections. I guess there is a reason to buy them if only to show that I want more Castlevania, but I couldn't bring myself to buy the collections. I did buy the new Dominus Collection, mostly for Haunted Castle, but also for removing the touch controls from Dawn of Sorrow. Though I wonder if I can rip the game from the collection and play it on my DSi XL. It should be possible, right?
i just bought all 3 collections for the switch so this video was in my feed at the perfect time lmao. great video btw. also can someone recommend me which game to play after super castlevania 4? i'm super new to the series lol thx :>
Super 4 is a pretty standalone-ish game, so you could really jump to any of them really. Rondo of Blood , Bloodlines, and Dracula X were the last mainline titles to be linear before they switched to the metroidvania style(there was also Chronicles for PS1 that’s linear, it’s a remake of 1), so maybe get through those before the others :3 you can skip dracula x and play that whenever though lol
Actually, this is a great question! I think if they were to remake a Castlevania, I'd really like it to stay 2D art, and like, completely remake the first game to be metroidvania style. Rework the entire castle that way. Just an idea though :3 the bad ending is that we get a Lords of Shadow remake or something, but I dunno, I feel like I'd still buy it lol
how the heck would anyone prefer the old poorly translated English dub is beyond me. Nostalgia truly carries some things. 7:49 you know what else has bad level design? The game it's based off of lol
It's iconic and cheesy, absolutely hilarious, great fun. The new dub has no reason to exist because most people who would value a more accurate translation would also just prefer the original Japanese audio. I mean you get the subtitles anyway, so why would you even need the audio to be dubbed on top of that? That just seems like aversion to foreign languages
@@DaveGrean It exists because the old dub was trash. No offense to anyone who likes it (I'm nostalgic for it myself) but I think the new one is straight up better.
@@Roge9 I agree it's technically better done, which for me is precisely the issue, lol. It's not good enough to actually be considered a good dub, but it's not nearly bad enough to be 'so bad, it's good' like the old dub. Meanwhile the Japanese dub is perfectly fine, and the original version. So I have the choice between hilariously bad (old dub), O.G.-accurate (Japanese), or boring mid (new dub) audio
"not everyone has a pc" ... someone who can't afford a necessity such as a computer is obviously not going to have any frivolities such as video game consoles either. what a bizarre argument
it can be for one way or the other, regardless, it's important for these games to be preserved for **everyone** to play. there's no reason to not want that :) and i have already said i am not against emulation. just enjoy video games however you want, no argument or negativity necessary.
I can't believe they ONLY realeased the Requiem collection on PS4... like really? How can you fumble the preservation of one of the greatest games ever made so hard...

I agree with most of them, except Judgment. A fighting game doesn’t seem to fit in with the franchise. And I don’t like the character redesigns.
Switch out Judgement with Dracula X Chronicles from PSP
What?! No Castlevania 64?? Regardless of how the fanbase feels, it’s a necessity.
@@dljworks I agree with you on that. Besides, it’s the first of the 3D Castlevania games anyway. It should be a part of a 3D collection!

You are incorrect about when Rondo of Blood was brought to North America, it was on the Wii Virtual Console
English translated version I suppose should have been more accurate, cause I do know it was still totally untranslated for the Wii :>
It was playable natively, but it was still very much the Japanese release. Not sure that counts
