  • After all of the suspension upgrades my truck has gone thought this past year, the J66 Deaver Leaf Springs i've been running for 6 years were not cutting it anymore. My Tacoma needed a leaf pack that was more stiff, had more arch, and more lift. That is where the Deaver U402 leaf pack comes in!

    This is more of a ? than a comment and you seem like the guy to ask. I’m in a 2010 2wd pre runner double cab. I just picked up from a buddy I work with. The rear suspension bottoms out real hard at times over road humps. I just upgraded shocks to a bilstein 5100 series. It’s at stock height but has airbag assist so no bump stops. I run about 5 psi in the bags to prevent the bottoming out issue but was wondering if better leafs would allow me to run no airbag psi when not towing and achieve a more comfortable ride. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

      I’m not well educated in towing or the setups needed for that so I won’t be much help on that front but if you’re still running the stock original leafs there’s a chance they’re just worn out and have a lot of play. I personally prefer a more stiff rear end on road so yes an aftermarket leaf pack definitely was the way to go for my comfort.

    The reason your leaf packs are smacking the frame is due to your stock bump stops, they are allowing too much uptravel. Looks like the Deaver's spring clamps are designed and located differently then the stock spring clamps. I wonder what length bump stops Deaver recommends with their leafs? I noticed in another video you upgraded to the Archive Garage u-bolt flip kit and bump stops. Their longer bump stops should solve your problem.

    Hey so you were a big fan of the Deaver j66? I just got them, I honestly don’t do crazy off-road and wanted a comfy ride in town

      Not a big fan for the off-roading. It’s a really soft pack that can’t handle weight well. In road it’s still pretty soft. My rear end would have to squat/compress off of every stop sign and red light. The pack I have now rides a bit stiffer and I love it. Just depends on what you’re using it for and how much lift you want

    How much are you lifted in the front?

      There’s a 4” lift spindle up front giving me the lift. No preload in the Coilovers. There’s a full build breakdown video on the channel if you’re interested in more

    What’s the reason for the spare underneath the bed? Just an extra one in case?

    • @desertdime
      @desertdime  10 місяців тому +1

      Yes, that’s one Reason but also the extra weight in the rear to keep it planted

    Hey, what is the measurement from the center of the hub to fender now that these springs have had time to settle? I just need that last piece of information before I buy a set. Thanks

    good vid I recommend that any suspension upgrade should include upgraded bump stops...sumos or timbrens depending on your most used application whether overland street or hauling.
