As a former US (SS) in the Navy we refer to this as a bandit kit. It is meant for emergency use only and is only a temp fix. In the bandit kit you have plastic and steel with a couple different types of clamps 🗜️. Each bandaid is already coated with the right type of rubber material for the job and the kind of pressure it was designed to hold.
I remember being inside a training simulator and all these leaks would just start showing up and we had to race to fix them. I couldn’t see much more than 2 seconds with water 💦 nailing me in the face as the chamber filled with water. We did pretty well till I think it was me that dropped the tool we need to get the clamps 🗜️ locked 🔒 in and we ended up failing in the end.
We learned a lot from the experience, but most of all it was also just so much fun and wow this simulation was very well done and a great training aid. 😅
Thanks friend 😆🙏
Wow! Very stressful situation there at the training.
If you say you learned a lot it would mean that you know exactly who dropped what 😉
That would be me, every time. Clumsy is my second name😅
But what was the lesson for you ftom that experience? To tie up the needed tools to your hand? Or what ?
I’m asking seriously. It would be useful to know. I’m wearing my phone on a leash, hanging of my neck. 🙄
Everyone fails DC trainer bro. Our overhead pipe had an 4 Inch gap, hard to close that one. Haha.
@@Urhuuuurtie everything to yourself, we used to have comms cord to secure everything to our webbing from clasp knife to compass to barley sugars
While I worked in a Nuclear Power Plant we had a high pressure (120 psi) oil leak at a bolted flange. Wrong gasket used.
One of my highly trained Navy Co-workers grabbed some hemp rope and broke off a broom handle. He wrapped the flange with the rope and made a tourniquet with the broom handle.
The 100+ gpm leak was slowed to 20 gpm to allow us to capture and recycle the oil into the system until we could establish an alternate cooling path.
Then we valved out the heat exchanger and made a permanent repair.
His Navy leak simulator experience kept the Nuclear unit on line and saved the company at least two million dollars in that one incident. Amazing!
One of the best "get to the point" videos I've seen without all of the endless talking that goes on in most "how to" videos.
thanks friend
Do this if you want to fix it again after a few days. Replace the PVC if you want to fix it in the next few years.
i am watching from Kerala -India
A saddle clamp is a temporary fix. Just cut out the cracked pipe and replace it. You spent more time on that than you would have if you just cut out and replaced the pipe.
Assuming of course one has a piece of extra pipe and fittings.
If the pipe is old then it is best to replace it.
Exactly!!!

Thanks for the great tips.
On the second repair, I would use cable ties instead of wire. Both will do the job well, but the cable ties are quicker/simpler.
You're welcome friend, thank you for the opinion🤜🏻🤛🏻
That's that Bowlshieettt.💯

Muy buenas ideas, siempre se necesitan, gracias.

Pex pipe is a way to go, doesn't freeze and break, flexible so it's easier to run around obstacles. And repairs and refitting is a whole lot easier.
thanks for your advice friend

Gracias !
Saludos!🙏🤝
Thanks, beautiful work 👌👏👍👍👍
thank you my friend 🤜🏻🤛🏻

What will happen is eventually the water will start leaking again. You won't notice it because you thought you had fixed it. The water will trickle out, slowly penetrating onto the ground and will, after many years, weaken the foundations of the house, the wood will also start to rot. And thus, will eventually make the house collapse into a pile of bricks, rotting wood and mortar.
So you have to ask yourself.. in the long run is it really worth it.
I understand the idea is more for an emergency for some trouble but thanks for the information friend
@@Mrinventor93 no problem. It is a good idea.

Muy provechosa la idea

Muy bien

Instead of ruining an inner tube, a little Flex Tape by Flex Seal would probably work just as well between the pipe and the PVC Patch.
I understand you friend thanks
This is only good as a temporary fix. The pipe damaged area needs to be cut out and a new section installed to make it a PERMANENT / reliable repair job.
I understand you and you are right this is something temporary in case of any trouble, thanks regards Ken!
Coupler vs cut pipe, 2 hose clamps, and bicycle inter tube..
Excelente ! 👍🏼
Muchas gracias Carlos🤜🏻🤛🏻
Brilliant idea 👍
Thanks You 🙏
So the second quick patch was definitely how my grandfather taught me to do it if you needed a quick fix. So you could fix it properly later. Of course the pipes to the swamp cooler and ac in his shop never got properly fix but they worked.
these do wotk very well dor quick temperary fixes when u cant shut the main off
thanks friend very good comment is something temporary to get out of trouble.
Greetings my friend!🤝
Good video!
Thanks friend 🙏
NOT! You look at thing cross wise and it will start to leak. PVC pipe and it's fittings are engineered and manufacture to meet certain standards of operation to deliver water and other liquid's in a safe, and durable manner. What this is has nothing to do with that. Again this is what keeps plumber awake at night. This guy should just learn how to really fit PVC pipe. With standard procedures it's much easier to actually do a much better job.
Go idea for times when it can’t be fixed correctly, like when the local store is closed or I’m broke but the parts you used can be scrounged up.
Thank you for understanding the purpose of the video, this is shown in a hurry as it mentions that the store is closed or whatever.
Thank you Steven
A little Flex seal tape snd you good to go, none of that hard time consuming work
Very nice.
Thank you 🙏
Cutting out the split & putting in a union is the ONLY permanent fix for this and is 5x faster than doing these.
This is a home owner hack version of the saddle clamp type of fitting that is nothing new. But again it's a engineered and expensive and unneeded. They actually make a fitting that similar but it actually slips together with glue but it's only used on sprinkler line that are not under stactic pressure at all times.
Super
to all the pros whom condemn this repair, try this scenario:
10,000$ laminate floor getting soaked by this leak.
You execute this repair.
What do uou do next?
Grab a mop!
Save this laminate flooring and you're the hero!
Of course! The solution was Flex Tape!!!
Cut a PVC pipe 2 to 3 inches longer than the leaking pipe. Gently apply heat to either end of the cut pipe. Decide where to saw the leaking pipe so the external pipe can fit Apply the adhesive solution to either end of the leaking pipe and slide the new pipe into place.
good information friend thanks
It's easier to just cut the pipe and install a coupling. This is hack work.
Done this before I also applied pvc glue
Thank you my friend good night
This was very expensive 🙏
Thanks You 🙏
what kind of sanding paper are you using
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼
Thanks
Cut and fix socket
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
So 2 couplings and a piece of pipe you apparently have already is asking for too much?
Well Done
thanks brother🤝
Would have been less time consuming to have cut out damaged pipe and fitted a straight push fitting.
It would be ideal, friend, but if you don't have the accessory
Good
Thanks friend 🙏
Good idea. But the way I do it is, easier and stronger , use a pice of garden hose and skip the p.v.c. half pipe. Just put clamp(s) over 1/2 section of hose directly over leak. Everything else is the same. Learned this 40 years ago
Working maintenance at a large hotel. Was there 3 years and repairs like that lasted that long .
IMPORTANT!!!! THIS SHOULD ONLY BE USED FOR EMERGENCY and or TEMPORARY REPAIRS.
Yes I've seen them last for 3 years but don't count on it. Fix it right later.
Thanks You
😃😩😩😅😅
You need a spare piece of pipe to do this fix. So just replace it
All you have to do is glue it with some PCP wait for it to dry hahaha is plastic or you can melt it on there.
🙏
Thanks 🙏🤝
I am truly trying to think of a scenario where you would have a spare section of pipe, but no time to do a proper repair by getting 2 couplers and pipe cement. Makes no sense to go through all of this effort when Home Depot and Lowes ate in every community.
Yeah I called it of saddle
Just use flex seal tape.
As long is not the city water pressure
If your gonna cut anything, you might as well just do it right
Must a pretty low pressure system
just cut out the bad part and go to lows and get a shark bite simple and easy fix
Thank you for your comment, that is the most effective as you mention, only here I am sharing this that maybe someone can find it useful, it is fully functional too🤝
Music is must while repairing.
I understand you sorry friend, I will take it into account in the next videos, thanks
Use socket that's all
Thank you
Anything can repair a drain line. Try that stunt on a supply line. Ha ha
Cut kar ke jointer lago do easy padega
Yreqrty
Just put a leak proof tape over the crack.
Could not understand why to go for cutting and pasting in a wrong way. Damaged portion of the pipe could be easily replaced straightway. It is just to get publicity - not a solution to be followed
Three words: Check building codes.
👍
As someone who in the past has successfully slipped and hacksawed into his hand, leaving nerve damage in one finger, I would recommend that you do not follow the example of cutting towards your hand, at least not without strong work gloves on. Full size hacksaws are potentially dangerous tools.
Thank you very much for the information friend, good day.
How to do a cow boy job.
Wow we are now doing "what NOT to do videos"
It always makes me nervous when I see someone using a Stanley knife/box cutter like that. I know from experience you have to be careful.
I thought he was going to glue it
Oh he did
I'd never do any if this for a customer
I understand you perfectly, nor would I, only that my idea is to do it in an emergency.
Just put flex seal on it 🤣
🙈🤝
That's not a repair, it's a temporary patch.
Turn off the water and use PVC glue to permanently attach the piece of cut off pipe and that would be a repair.
thanks for the tip friend
