- Maecee Lathers, 24, is back in jail after Miami prosecutors charged her with new counts of DUI manslaughter. The self-proclaimed model allegedly tried to leave the scene of a three-car crash, telling officers when they detained her that she was on drugs, that she was from the future and that aliens were coming. Law&Crime’s Jesse Weber has a closer look at the new video and charges with trial attorney Alexis Rosenberg.

It’s her driving under the influence that’s the problem.
I remember the female officer. She was such a sweetheart to me. I had turned myself in on a warrant and ran across her in front of the police station. Sad to say I was on drugs at the time. She searched me and found empty baggies in my back pocket pocket. I freaked out. She was cool though. She told me not to worry that they were empty and she wasn't worried about it. She talked to me helped me get a promise to appear and now I'm drug free for 5 years. Pretty sure she was the one ❤.

Bond is MANDATORY except for a few instances so she can't be held indefinitely without bail. This is a horrible tragedy and she's completely at fault so hopefully judge and prosecutors both see that and give a high bail but with bail reform across the Country I'm not too hopeful!!!

I was an EMT and something I wish first responders would be taught more effectively is how to calm an agitated patient. Shouting"RELAX!!" and "CHILL" has never calmed a single person down in the history of agitation.

When victims die as a result of someone driving while intoxicated, the sentences for the intoxicated driver always seem surprisingly light.
This - considering the number of road accidents and deaths due to alcohol and drugs I think we're entirely too lenient on offenders.

The American judicial system decided a long time ago that crimes committed "under the influence" should be treated with some leniency due to the perp not being in the right state of mind to be able to make sound decisions

Honestly, why even bother pleading not guilty to charges under these circumstances? Wasting the court’s time and putting the families and loved ones of the people she killed through the additional trauma of a trial. Then again, that’s exactly what I’d expect from someone selfish enough to drive under the influence.

I couldn’t imagine being law enforcement for many reasons but because for me personally the rage of having to baby and take care of a heavily intoxicated individual after she just slaughtered two innocent people would be very difficult to contain.
Imagine picking this girl up at club the look at what she really looks like two days in jail. Wow. That should be a crime.
