your personality really shined in this vlog, it was so fun to watch. the part of you being so excited to settle in the for long drive was so charming lol you seem really happy and at ease rn!! :) happy new year!
Love finally hearing the proper story of how you met Sam. He seems so nice and intelligent and he's really cute! Plus you have similar jobs and interests so it's perfect. 😊
Interesting I met my boyfriend through my coworker. She and I took a picture together and put that picture as a wallpaper on her phone. A friend of hers saw the picture on the phone and he wanted to have lunch with me. That's how we met.
Speaking as a military family who buys and sells homes and owned in Joshua Tree, it is a GREAT rental area. If AirBnB ends up being a bust, you’ll have success with it as a long term rental because of the military families stationed at 29 Palms. We owned for nearly 8 years more after we moved out of our JT property and we never had trouble having it rented out. We just made sure to rent to military families (as opposed to single Marines) to help ensure our property would be taken care of properly.
When my parents sold the family home I felt the same, xmas wasn't the same. I miss those days - one of the reasons I'm working on getting my own family home! For the future fam :)
Shelby, as someone who has been scared of making bold decisions my whole life, I encourage you to take the leap and do the NY thing if you can't stop thinking about it. I have so many regrets over things I didn't do. What is the worst that can happen? If you don't like it you move on after a year. Yes, it's expensive but the move would probably be great for your channel and you'd be in the same time zone as Sam too.

Hey. :) I just wanted to say how much I love this channel and your videos. I prefer them over the "official" videos, because they show more of yourself and your day-to-day life. I love that you share that with us, and your videos give me feel-good vibes. Like I wait a day or two after they come out until I can get a chill moment and a coffee and enjoy them properly. Please don't ever stop making these Vlogs! And have a happy, healthy, and successful 2023!
aha the ending scene u added was fun. candid moments between the shots like that are always my favorite thing to see in videos people create. wishing you a strong start to 2023!
Have a happy new year and you should definitely experience NY when you are young. I have lived here my whole life, but traveled the world working for an airline for 15 years, and I can tell you with all its flaws, NY is truly the best place to spend your time when young.
I still love both platforms.. youtube will always have my heart as a content Creator too because I like longer videos that keep my attention longer than a short video that I get over stimulating like tiktok with the content just ever changing.. that's just my thought
haha the black screen fake out like it was the end and then the surprise behind the scenes 'blooper!' well done Olivia, that was fun ☺ Overall great video, a very interesting ride from start to finish! thanks so much for sharing your life with us, I'm sure with your positive attitude and willingness to shift with the times will ensure your career is long and prosperous! we are out here rooting for you, Shelby!!
Shelby, I am glad you unplugged from your channel during Christmas. You give great content and you absolutely deserve time to unwind and enjoy your life. Happy New Years🎉🎉🎉🎉
Totally agree about college/uni not really being that important. We didn't think we really had much of an option when I was in high school. Now lots of people I know have good jobs who never went! I don't regret mine as I use my marketing/comms degree for my job, but I honestly didn't learn that much at university.
Could you say more about your long distance relationship. How do you see the future... And why you don't consider live in other fun places like Miami and etc?
Thanks for the updates! I was wondering what happened to the Xmas footage. Totally agree about it not being as special anymore as you get older. My parents also sold our amazing family home and it's just not the same. I almost look forward to the whole festive season being over...
One thing I've noticed on tiktok is that a lot of the most successful videos/creators are less edited and polished than what you see on UA-cam. I don't think that just doing the same thing as UA-cam but shorter is necessarily the path to success. I think it would be cool if you posted some stuff that's more similar to what you do here on the vlog, and see how that does.
Yes to a podcast! Videos like this I just here in the background while I’m cooking and I think that your videos are informative and interesting enough for a podcast 💗 u guys got the voice!
I want to have a New York era myself 😭❤️🔥 I loved the city so much!! It’s so walkable and so much to do. I hope I get the chance atleast like you said 1 or 2 years.
Maybe a bit random, but I'd love to hear your advice on maintaining long distance relationships. I'm currently in one myself and love to hear how other people connect with time zone differences, balancing work, etc
Clarifying question. You said rent a bedroom in the townhouse… which I get that primarily Monica lives there but don’t you also own the townhouse with her?
Hi Shelby, your double jaw surgery vlogs are helping me get through my post op!! How long did it take for you to be able to eat crunchy foods again? (Chips, crackers, toast?)
re: longevity as a 38 y/o I feel like there's not yet enough content geared to my age group. & If you do to have children or adopt later in life in your late 30s or 40s we also don't have as many mom YTers to relate to on an age level. Most Mom content is from the younger mamas, which is fine but people like The Wads are closer to my age and I do just relate a bit better to my peers. I enjoy content from younger women, obviously, you're younger and all. So yes if you pivot you still could have a following as an influencer. Kim from The Wads is very successful as well, probably for the reasons I mentioned and younger moms probably like hearing advice from an older mom. Career vlogs are great too, I watch Clancy Burke I started following her as a reporter and Monica's content as a real estate agent was fun to watch even if I can't relate.
I think having a room at Monica's is a good idea, as you can store your stuff there and have somewhere to come home to after you travel. It's a lot cheaper too obviously
Hi Shelby!! I love your Seattle content, and seeing you really thriving and doing well 😊as a fellow 27-year-old, you're probably the only person I consistently watch their vlogs and I love seeing what you're up to! Hope you had a nice christmas and happy new year!
Shelby, Great to see you chill for a few days. Wish you a tremendous 2023 and see your success go further and further. There are only 6 hrs to the New Year in Melbourne so I will be able to tell you what 2023 is like before you get there. 😂😂 Seriously love your channel and hope to see lots more in the New Year. 🪃🪃🦘🦘😁😁
i love this about you cause I too am a big picture person and not a lot of people will be optimistic and perseverant and also a lot of people if they are wont share it
Great vlog! Also thanks to you, and your love of sweetgreen I found a sweetgreen near me and tried it and now I understand why you love it so much, it’s so good!
Buying a house might be slightly up hill right now but apartments is a very mobile option. I was just looking at apartmentsdotcalm in LA, for instance Josephine DTLA is a high rise with killer views at same or less money than your current. The roommate approach might be a way to have social activity plus get something nice big and luxurious for little money. If Sam has business in LA he could be a roommate. I imagine you two could swing maybe 8grand. There is a 1950sqft townhouse for 5300 on Montclair that looks like a real house with parking and stuff. 5 bedrooms and 4 baths which is pretty wild. There would seem to be good options when you can afford a fair bit.
Because there is still a monthly mortgage so she would pay rent. They are probably split the down payment ( hence the co ownership)and any profits when the sell
@@jj-if6it I think Monica and her boyfriend pay it all because they live there. Previously she had roommates to help. If Shelby lived there then she would share in that expense.
On the subject of airbnb I have noticed that they are doing advertising on youtube whereas I never saw that before. Maybe people are pulling out from their platform and they are trying to get other people back on board.
For the next 3 months. Your place in palm springs should be renting out. I think any place around palm springs would have the same problems renting out past the middle of april.
I only watch the channels I am subscribed to on youtube on my computer. NO tik tok. No instagram and no smarphone! AND I hate shorts. I think it's for people with a short attention span and it encourages short attention spans.
Where I live housing resale inventory is low and new construction inventory is high. I don't have to worry about interest rates on my house because it's paid off thanks to me doing well in stocks.
Shelby have you considered releasing the OF Documentary on Nebula or some other streaming platform? I know a lot of UA-camrs make content for Nebula, so maybe it would be a good fit
I totally liked the podcast. Also the fact you’re sisters (heck plus twins) was maybe part of the magic… having “another co-host” sounds more like “another podcast”. (Oooh unless maybe Lauren lol). I dunno 🤷♂️ but I liked it 👍
I find it so interesting you always cook on the burner farthest away from you. I always use the ones closest to me. Now I wonder what is more common. :)
I always use the burner that's the right size. Using the farthest away one reduces the risk of accidently knocking off the pan too if the pan has a long handle.
@@Jeroen74 I feel like maybe my arms just aren't long enough, I don't think I'd be able to see what I was doing on the back burners. I'll use them for large pots of water and things, especially during holiday cooking when there's a lot going on. But I was always taught to put the handle to the side or back, so that it's not at risk of being knocked off.
I always cook on the farthest away too haha! My mom taught me it's harder to get burned if oil splatters that way. For the same reason, the floors don't get dirty that soon (and it's easier to wipe the countertops)
