Thanks very intuitive, I use art markers and Bristol board for my drawings but... I have recently started to try oil painting, so I'm looking for any tips thanks👍👍👍
I'm a complete beginner.. i know how to buy the paint i just dont know how to keep up with canvas.. is this how an artist does every time you want to paint ? or are there already made ones that can be purchased
I'm new at acrylic painting. And I find your instructional videos very helpful. I was wondering, do you apply the gesso while the canvas is still wet? I'm afraid that it might crack when it dries. Thank you in advance for answering this question. :)
If you type in clive5art in the search bar all my videos pop up but here is the playlist for you ua-cam.com/play/PLaZySNJiYKq-2q3c4vholiboMi5F1x1fQ.html
Dear Mr. Clive, thank you very much for your videos - I have learned a lot from you! I have one video request - if it is possible can you make a video about how to package a canvas painting for shipping? Thank you very much and God bless you!
After the gesso is applied and the canvas dries, do the keys ever get removed or are they to remain on the canvas frame indefinitely? Great instruction, by the way. Thanks!
Clive, this is the second video of yours I've recently seen regarding prepping canvases and you've inserted them differently on each one. This one on the diagonal and the other was with the long straight edge running parallel with the canvas. I'm now a little confused which is correct. Does it really matter as long as the canvas becomes taut? Regards, Ian.
I always wondered what to do with those bits of wood. Thank you.
+Roberta Sawatsky thank you for commenting yes so many people ask me the same question

It's applied to a dry or damp canvas and as it's only very thin it will not crack
Cinnamon Cooney directed several of us to your video. Thank you for explaining how to use the wood chips to stretch the canvas.
That's great cinnamon and I are doing a collaboration soon so keep and eye out for it thanks Clive

I can the best thing to do is use hardboard on front and back then wrap it that’s all I can suggest
Thank you Clive.
Happy to help thank you

They stay in place only removed or tightened when or if restoring the canvas
I see. I am 1000% novice. Please forgive my ignorance :) Thank you for your response. And excellent videos!!
Anytime any question I'm happy to help
Why do you have to wet the whole canvas first before putting the wooden keys? What is the purpose of it?
What it does is loosen the canvas fibres then adding the keys tighten it up as it dries it then goes vet taught thus making it a better surface
I think if you put them in the other way and put two in each corner than the angle pieces will fit together and it would make an even stretch
I like the music
thanks clive
Your welcome

If I did that I'm sorry the flat edge should be horizontal to the stretcher bar but if it's taught it's taught

There is more than one way but this is my preferred way it works for me and I'm happy to share
