It's all cyclical, we were in the Navy helmets during the Stan Humphries years and people hated them and wanted the white helmets with the powder blues. Now I see people wanting the navy again, I was sick of it back in the day and still not ready to go back to it. White helmets, powder blues for life.
You really can't bear the powder blues with the white helmets. Best uniforms in NFL history. Please leave them alone.

Your suggestion of the all navy blue is awesome but with a navy blue face mask and navy blue chin strap along with navy blue helmet interior. In other words, no white on the helmet. Even the screws, face mask plastic holders, navy blue padding, etc., everything navy blue on the helmet except the Bolt of course!!

The Chargers started in LA and those first uniforms are also related to "Charger" the horse. Which from what I understand is related to the USC fan-base and their mascot "Charger." Also, I know it's "yellow or gold" in the unis and I think that "Mustard" might be the preferred term. Can't wait to see what the new look is and as long as we smash the Faiders on opening day, I'm good. Bolt Up

The only thing I hate about the Navy unis is that they're winless wearing that set. They definitely need to add a modern version of the Navy helmet. Add matching yellow pants with it too as a secondary Navy alternate to change up the winless vibe.

@@jojourias6766 Actually, as a 40 year Chargers fan I can tell you that it has not always been gold. In fact it is not currently gold. Check every logo. The bolt is yellow.
My favorite combo is the powder blue or white jerseys with the yellow pants. I say they change the Royal Blues. Navy too iconic, gotta keep it. But the Royal Blue can change for sure. I wouldn't miss it. I actually like the Navy/Powder blue concept!

Yo director the chargers were named the chargers because the original owner was rolling out the intro to the charge card payment back in the day. Lightning fast transactions. This the logo with the straight line “swipe” through the bottom of the chargers spelled out logo
Right off the bat, Charliee Joiner was not of the '60s he was more of the era you called "Fouts, Winslow...." He was drafted 1969 and didn't start a game until 1970. He was drafted by the Houston Oilers. He joined the Chargers 1976, well after Lance Alworth 1960's, Joiners was 1970's thru 1986. So, he was drafted in the vary last year of 1969, didn't start an NFL Game until 1970 and as far as the Chargers go, he wasn't a thing until 1976 - 1986 (Dan Fouts, Kellen Winslow Era)
"The Origins and the roots in San Diego...." The Chargers were uprooted and moved to Sandiego from LA.
They played in LA for one year before the moved .their roots ARE SD

I agree with the navy blue selection and they should be our home jersey along with the white away jerseys. However I think the alternative jersey should be some sort of non powder blue throw back. I think the Chargers should only wear those powder blues when they have earned them and used as a playoff only jersey. If they don’t make the playoffs, no powder blues. I think this will motivate the teams a little bit to earn the right to even wear one of the most beloved jerseys worn by some of the chargers greats. It will be memorable based on the fact we will be on the playoffs debuting the fresh powder blues.
