1994 3000gt FWD rear mount turbo running 7psi. Tuned at 11psi on high boost. Using Haltech Elite 2000 ECU.
my head is almost hitting the headliner throughout the video.

@@deadalive7311 because a sohc 5 speed is fun and spins the tires with all the torque it has. Dohc boosted and fwd? That just sounds like a blast. I like wheel spin. Plus it’s still pulling you so it handle great.

I plan to do this to my 3000gt SL along with an lsd since its 500 pounds lighter than the vr4 model.
does the sl satisfy your need for speed?
@@jordan_9992The SL is not that fast stock but once modified they become really fun and nimble on the corners but the Vr4 is still a must buy it has way more potential.

I have the base model 1998 I couldn't imagine a VR4. All i have done to the slow sohc is bolt on's. More air going in more air going out. For a 5 speed it has more torque than actual horsepower so it is very snappy. It can definitely do over 125mph it gets up to 100mph in third gear still slow but... fun for my first car. She is pretty. I am no mechanic however, I do know an engine and what it does. My pops.. he's a mechanic some dude has a green sl 95 3000gt rotting away and has been rotting for years in his yard. Grab that thing bring it home put the engine on the stand and rebuild it. Drop it into my base model after its fully rebuilt. Sounds like fun! Turbo? That's where its at.

What are good shocks for 1993 3000GT SL with ECS? I just got this car as a gift at don’t know anything about it and looks like Mitsubishi don’t make oem shocks no more

I don’t have a build page. It’s a fully built NA motor and rear mount single turbo.

Actually no, not really. I just know my transmission/front axles are time bombs. I don’t launch it to be safe
Do you know how I can turbo a 96 sl? I think this year the engines are different .
The engine should still be the DOHC for the 96. I know the base switched to SOHC in the later years. You can always do a turbo conversion from a VR4, or rear mount it like mine.

Sure, forged rods and pistons are from 3sx. And if you look up the “quick and dirty Haltech guide” on 3si, you’ll find the ecu pin outs. Hope this helps

@@johnmarco5017 well I think they’re for a vr4 but it’s the same engine. Just go in 3si wiki and find the OEM pinouts for your exact model year and engine and match them to the Haltech pinouts. I’m running ACT clutch MB1-XTG6

How did you do a single turbo and do you have a list of everything you used or a kit?
It’s mounted to my rear subframe. It’s fully custom. Had to make my own exhaust and intercooler pipe routing. I can drop some website links if you’d like.

You got a car and didn’t do research about the car beforehand?? 💀 but to answer your question the SL is FWD while the VR4 is AWD, some other differences you can find inside the car. If you have a button that has an “Active Aero” Switch it’s a VR4 but if you can’t find it it’s an SL. Also the back of the Car should have a badge that says VR4, the SL doesn’t have one. This is coming from a GTO Owner aswell, good luck man they’re a bitch to work on but they’re worth it.

@@Victor_yea007 don't worry about him. I didn't do any research on my car either, and i just bought a '94 SL with sunroof and manual trans for 1200. What research do you have to do besides years-long affection for the car? Haters will always hate and then they'll whine about working on the car themselves. I'd love for him to talk crap to me about not researching the car, as i'm a professional automotive technician and have been for almost two decades now. Besides =- If he really knew what he was talking about he could point you to a much easier way to tell which car you have, as the 97-99 models didn't have active aero anyway and no one has said a model year yet. On the gauges in the center of the dash, the far right gauge will be a battery voltmeter on the NA models (base and SL) and will be a boost gauge on the turbo models (VR-4). He would also know how sought after they are, There was two gentlemen that showed up not even five minutes after I arrived to look at my SL, they were going to buy it if i didn't - these cars are getting more and more rare, snatch them up while you can and then read up all about it when the pressure is off and it's safely yours. If i had been stuck at a train or a redlight for five minutes I would not own a sunroof / manual trans 3000GT today! Enjoy your car USA air vic!!
@@JohnDoe-lt9sg Just wanted to point out the obvious, the VR-4 will say "VR-4" on the right hand side of the rear bumper.. on all years, from '91-'99.. of course, that's if the car's paint hasn't been molested. Just a friendly addition to your accurate comment. Enjoy your rides brothers. I just picked up an absolutely MINT, fully documented and BONE-STOCK '94 VR-4 and I'm fuckin stoked.

Yes, the base model and SL model had the same engine. Until they switched to the SOHC in later years.

So far haha! Everything is a little overbuilt. The only soft point is the CX racing turbo and my stock axles. But everything is holding great! (Knock on wood)

@@6lackRain it was a base, not an sl. No problems with reliability. Very strong engine. My block is sleeved and I also have head studs.

Might as well put a Chevy in it I've done it to my sl recently it's much more reliable and there's better aftermarket support, although if it at least had the awd in it I wouldn't blame your for boosting our base 220 hp 6g72
