I was at work in Minnesota when this aired. We were watching of course!!! A bunch of us were from Iowa and we got more and more excited seeing Jamie advance and then WIN!!! Her green dress helped her stand out amongst the seas of white, blues, etc. SO happy she won!!!
I'm surprised Miss Teen USA 1991 did not compete at the Miss USA level. She would of done well, but the 90's was a competative year for Miss USA, so she may of not won Miss USA during that decade!
Does anyone have the real reaction tape for the ending of the this pageant? By that I mean, the backstage tape that shows the true reaction of the winner. This pageant was pre-recorded (instead of live) because of a hurricane and two endings were taped. One with each of the top two finalists winning. Then, that night when the show was broadcast, the ending showing Miss Iowa winning was played. Neither finalist knew who had won until it aired. It would be interesting to see a backstage reaction when MIss Iowa found out she had really won.
@mgparis it would have been a hard decision miss usa 1998 was by far the most disappointing pageant i have ever seen there was no way shauna gambill should have lost as soon as i saw she was competing i knew she was gonna win...but i agree i thought jamie would have been in semi-finals
@canadianrockies2007 Major headlines?! Get real! I think that it was Jamie's gown and swimsuit that held her back. Her gown was overly pageant patty and she had gained some noticeable weight, as well.

True. Maybe she was just contented to be a teen usa. Well, none of the former miss teen winners won the miss usa title.

They should’ve followed both ladies and filmed them watching the live feed. Too bad they missed that opportunity.
I miss pageants from the 1990s, Todays pageants are lacking class.
