Gretchen was my favorite of the Texas Aces. I would have loved for her to win Miss Universe, but the judges were fixated on Angela Visser. She could have been 1st runner-up instead of 2nd runner-up. I lived her better than Miss Sweden.

Did y'all see that when the girls rushed up to congratulate the winner, Miss Teen USA ran towards Florida? They must have gotten close during the pageant; she was even clapping hard when Florida was called into top 11.
Yes! In fact, when Texas and Florida were in the top 2, you can see Miss Teen USA practically jumping up and down--but she stops clapping when Texas takes her victory walk. She clearly wanted Florida to win!!

I remember this, I was rooting for Texas but thought no way there could be a third straight TX win. I thought Arizona would win (I think she did too, she looked a bit shocked when she was announced as 2nd runner up.) Arizona could've made a serious run for Miss Universe.
Metro Promise absolutely!! Arizona and Georgia are much more facially stunning than Texas. I think the Texas sash helped her a lot... I think Arizona would’ve placed first runner up if not won Miss Universe 1987. She truly would’ve done well! Same even for 2019... when New Mexico should’ve won!
Arizona ended up representing the US in a minor pageant: Miss Asia Pacific and was a semifinalist as well as the winner of Best in Swimsuit. Perhaps she should have been sent to Miss international instead.
Georgia should have won. Might they have read the results in reverse order by mistake? Or maybe the judges misunderstood if 1 was for first place, or the lowest score.

Well miss chile was unbeatable in miss universe 1987 so i doubt if arizona won miss usa if she could surpass miss chile.
