Hi my people! Before you dive into any of these businesses, please check the trends & talk to people in the business. I'd say don't but if you must, please do your research!!
Welcome back sis. We've missed you 🫂
Where's part 2?
Can't wait for PT 2. Very good info
Thanks for watching!
Great stuff!
Thanks!
All facts here Nana
You really did your research well. Nice
Thanks!
Hello Nana I sent you an email. First time viewer, love the infor.
Hi Carol, thank you. Will respond soon 👋🏿
@@NanaAshanti Take you time, just wanted to to make sure it was a working email address.
Let’s go to number 3 …. We glued 😅
Lezzzgoooo 😆
Your information is always valuable. I was waiting for when someone will talk about the car shipment business. My uncle shipped a salvage titled car that cost him $5k and he cleared it at customs for almost $4k in Ghana. Luckily it is to be used and not sold but I was shocked by the customs levy. 😢😢
In 2018, I paid 2k to clear a car. That same car will cost me 5x the price to clear just 5 years later. It's insane! We should have a free port, out of all other West African countries. What a shame.
Thank you
Welcome!
Nana Ashanti
Hello
Waiting for details on real estate 👀
Coming soonnnn
😘
yes the restaurant business is saturated with low profit margins but if you can find a niche it can be profitable, i am sure you have heard of Csptain yaw which does fish and chips and targets british expats , there is a market in Ghana for us soul food and vegan restaurants.
I have seen that. Niching down is always a good idea for the service industry but my worry is that, is it sustainable? Can it be your major gig? If it's serving to primarily diplomats, what happens when they move on to something new? 🤔
Not only diplomats, expats, returnees and tourists. Their business is booming and they have grown so much in just a few years. If Ghana is going to be the tourist hub it claims to be aiming to be, the only way is up for Captain Yaw’s!
Okay and when a new spot, like I said, opens and copies the menu as everyone seems to be doing, what's next? 👀 Because, personally I advice businesses to include the local population in their target market in Ghana. They are the mass market.
@@NanaAshanti you’ve lived in America before right?
Didn’t know there was a monopoly on restaurants in Ghana.
Also clearly the mass market also likes Captain Yaw’s as they have been booming.
Okay.
I think the best option regarding the cars is to do a door to door ship
As in, sell to people who request it before you ship?
@@NanaAshanti leaning more towards using a freight service which handles clearance something along the lines of what jobyco does. It's a lot more hands off.
Good point. 👍
What about 'live' Entertainment, like bands that perform different genres (R&B, Neo-Soul, Jazz, HipHop, Blues, Rock, Lo-Fi, Electronica, etc)??
I'm an experienced musician and I am interested in your opinion on this idea.
Bands have been successful here and abroad for a few years now. There have been several bands from back in the day too who started here and have done very well. I say, do it. We are definitely an entertainment loving people.
I was waiting to hear what you had to say and you basically gave away the sauce. What is your best point of contact so I can reach you for business relations.
Email works best. Nanaashantiinfo@gmail.com
Gm very well and good put together, I would like to is online business is on high demand? I am Rudolph Harrigan from ST.THOMAS US Virgin Island and would like to bring a online business opportunity there. Do you information on places to advertise your business online
Hi Rudolph, online business is still in its infancy here. We use social media to sell & promote products, primarily. We also use Whatsapp business to sell & lately there are apps like Jiji.com, Hubtel, Tonaton.com, Jumia, etc. Any of these or a combination should work.
Ghana car tariffs are such a killer . Best to ship to Cotonou and then pay the cross border tariffs which is lower. Most people evade it by buying accident cars , bring it in and have it assembled . The labor is cheap. Make sure you buy all your parts abroad and ship in as spare parts.
Cotonou?! This is new information. Thanks for sharing
This a great idea! It's only Ghana that is really extortionate with their fees. Our government is such a struggle
Too much strife. Stress!
If you ship to Cotonou or Ivory Coast, you will still have to pay the same Duties as importing into Ghana if you want to register it in Ghana. Which is why you see a lot of cars with Togo, Ivory Coast and Nigerian plates in Ghana...so they have 90 days to stay in Ghana. So what they do is every 90days, they drive across the border to Togo or Ivory Coast, spend a day or the weekend and drive back which resets the 90days.

The Nigerian government is far much worse than the Ghanaian govt.
Even many Nigerians will tell you that Ghana is ahead of Nigeria with respect to governance.
Nigerian govt is zero governance!
Whats your opinion nana of a business like yours the bigstore? Like a supermarket type ? Could you comment pls , and thanks
I will always encourage people to do business in consumer goods and essentials. It's been good for me so far so I'd say yes. Find your corner of the market and delve into it.
@@NanaAshanti OK thanks for getting back to me. Ill definately check the shop out when im there
With real estate if it’s renting it out there’s no money cuz ppl pay 2-5 yrs in advance but if it’s thru Airbnb u will make way more money
Airbnb is not doing well, currently.
Airbnb might get hou broke
Maintenance is headache
@@NanaAshanti it’s only temp
So is that the aerial view of sandbox? That’s very disappointing. Look at the surroundings
It's better these days
What about importing vehicles for uber as work and pay?
It's like combining two of the worst things together. I am yet to hear of a positive uber/public transportation work n pay experience. The trust in the drivers is low/nonexistent. I'd say don't do it but also do your research and decide. Who knows? Maybe you'll find a work around.
@@NanaAshanti Already made the investment. Let's see how it goes then. Learning the hard way.😃
@@NanaAshantiyeh good driver will make u blow, but bad driver will make u go crazy. is a good business depending on the driver
Thanx for video honey i want to move to ghana and live there and get married 😊
You're welcome 😊
99% of the cars in Ghana are imported. There has to be a way that people are importing all of these cars. I've been talking with people about this a lot recently. But my landlord told me the same story. He imported a car and the car will cost more to clear through customs than the entire value of the car. So the business must be in figuring out how people are doing it because the costs of all the cars here do not reflect that doubling of price.
If I know Ghana, I'd say the importers "know someone who knows someone" & may be getting cheaper clearing options we just don't know of, publicly because these fees and taxes are such a business killer. Someone said something about clearing through Cotonou in the comments. Must be it.
@@NanaAshanti A lot of the cars been sold in Ghana that are imported are imported as parts. They saw the cars into halves and import them in as parts or import Salvage cars in parts in a container which allows the duty to be low, then when it gets to Ghana, they now weld it back together and put all the parts together. So a lot of the cars on the roads in Ghana are not really road worthy. Which is why a lot of folks that want to use their cars prefer buying the cars and ship it in which gives them a peace of mind.
With all that said ...the duty on clearing cars in Ghana is ridiculous. How can clearing fees be more than the price of the cars. I want to ship my car in the US to Ghana but the price to clear the car is so ridiculous that I was like its not worth it.
What about a bookstore?
Very niche in the country but it can work especially if you include textbooks for schools and universities. Also partner with higher learning institutions to be a supplier. That could work very well.
@@NanaAshanti Brilliant. Thank you.
How about food truck business?
In 2019, there were a few around in Accra, specifically. They all seem to have folded up though. It's a tough industry now 😕 so I wouldn't recommend it but if you'd still like to, probably talk to them and see what happened so you do things in another way.
@@NanaAshanti Thank you for your feedback.
@natfu5206 there's one I loved called "12 inch Baguette". They left and set up in Lagos so hopefully they will be willing to talk to you 🙏

Ghana doesn't have a middle class. Where do you see that?
All around me. It's growing but it's here.
@@NanaAshanti are they local Ghanaians or expats ? What jobs are they doing?
Onyame tumi so
Lol real estates? And eateries are booming sis huh?
Booming in presence or in profit?
