  • This is a knockdown DJ Façade, able to be packed flat for transport and storage. Base is made of 3/4 in plywood and the top are 2 by 8 southern yellow pine. Looks great with the dark walnut wood stain, and the white paint.

    I really admire your creativity. It is usually easier to make something needlessly complex and then have to figure out how to simplify it to make it work. You have the ability to clearly see the most straightforward path and follow it. The result is elegant simplicity. I'm always happy to see an upload from you because I know it will be creative, beautiful and loaded with random distractions!

    I was planning on building something similar (transportable DJ facade) after a friend posted one that was rented for his wedding gig. I stumbled on your UA-cam video while searching instructional videos. This is almost exactly what I had in mind! (I don't need the top, this will just hide/block a 4' table.)
    One question... The pieces at the end (I assume they're 1x1"?), are they flush with the bottom edge of the front and side panels? Or do the panels sit above the ground? Kinda hard to tell from this video. (The grass hides it on the IG pic too.) Thanks in advance and thanks for this video!

      Those corners are 2x2s, which actually measure 1.5"x1.5". You can see the bottom better at 5:10

  • @MezcalBuzz
    @MezcalBuzz Рік тому +1

    This is fantastic! Thanks for sharing. What's the average cost in material? I am considering buying a premade mobile bar, but like this approach much beter.

    • @bdmayhem3391
      @bdmayhem3391 Рік тому +1

      It looks like he needed more than one full sheet of plywood for the front and sides. 2 sheets: $150.
      I think he got the angled ends of top from the offcuts, so it only took 2 pieces of 2x8. Plus the bits to cover the corners could be a 2x4 ripped in half(ish). Dimensional lumber: $25.
      The cost of the moulding really depends on the style and length. A very rough guess is 30 feet in total, with prices ranging from 0.5 to 4 per foot. Let's estimate $40 for moulding.
      There are the piano hinges and brackets to consider. Hardware: $25.
      Finally, there's stain and paint. It doesn't take much, but they charge a lot for small quantities. We'll call it $35.
      That totals $275, so budget $300, assuming you have the tools already. At least a circular saw, drill, and sander. Table saw and miter saw are nice to have, but not absolutely necessary.
      I wouldn't expect that you could get this done by a professional for less than $6-800.

      @@bdmayhem3391 thanks! I’m finishing my mini bar soon - less than $200… I hope it doesn’t look like less than $200! 😂
