Lately our content has been quite serious, but we do still know how to have some FUN and we wanted to share that with YOU! ❤ On August 9th, Brian celebrated his 40th birthday and I was NOT going to let that pass by without throwing him an epic surprise party. 😁 I started planning the party back in April (before cancer)... when life was much simpler. After my diagnosis, I honestly gave up hope that I could pull this off, but I’m so glad I didn’t give up. After having to reschedule the party twice, it finally happened and somehow everyone managed to keep it a secret from Brian! It was so much fun just to see the smile beaming on his face as he was surrounded by his friends and family to share in something he loves… TOP GUN! I rented out a theatre at MX Movies in downtown St. Louis and invited all of his closest friends and family for a private screening of the original movie. With everything we are going through, one thing I have learned is to just DO things. Take the time to do the things you’ve been putting off and get together with those you love as often as possible. We don’t know how much time we have on this earth. I’ll never take another day for granted. Happy Birthday to my love, my rock, my hero, my cutie, my silly B. Brian is so sweet and supportive. I can see the fear/sadness in his eyes, which I also saw in my partner's eyes when I was diagnosed with cancer 6 years ago. What an amazing and strong person to support you during your health struggle. It's so hard, but you have love. xoxoxo
Happy Birthday! What a great idea. When you're dealing with emotional or physical struggles, it's so important to grab moments of joy to lift you up. Doesn't have to be elaborate or expensive. A simple walk in a beautiful place, a visit with someone you love, a creative endeavor, or a friend, movie or show that makes you laugh, something that takes your attention to a different place can make all of the difference. And calls or visits from friends & family are so important. It often gets very quiet when you need support & distraction the most. People can feel uncomfortable, not knowing what to say(nobody does), or thinking that you're busy, but contact with others can make all the difference in the world. Thinking of you both & wishing for the best. Your love will help you through this.
