thank you soo much for going over how you bake them separately from the book, and how you secure them to the covers. most tutorials dont go into this crucial detail!
With that second pale grey journal you showed, would a full front cover work even though if used without a cover the hard front has a bend in it? Or do you just cover to the right of where it bends. One of the finished ones you showed looked like a similar notebook and appeared to be full covered.
Anne In The North, I do only cover the flat surface, I do not go into the edge that would crease when opened as I believe it would break. Some people do cover the strip of the spine. Maybe now with the Fimo Leather you may be able to cover completely 🤔 but I haven’t tried. Hope this helps and thank you for watching.🙂
Carla Jones, yes it sort of pops off, you just ease one edge and slowly run a blade underneath, when totally cold. I will be honest I have had the crack appear but that is more down to how I have removed it, just been a bit heavy handed. Just slide the blade under like you would with raw clay on a tile. Hope this helps and thank you for watching.
I want to make a pure polymer clay cover (baseless) and bind my own book with Coptic stitching. It is a tiny book and I will make the clay thick. Possible?
Patricia Peters, the thickness of the ceramic tile is 5mm and the clay is about 1-1.5mm, I normally use this sort of thickness of clay as a base then add to it, you could go to 1mm, probably #5 on the makin's pasta machine, nor sure on other makes. Have fun and please let me know if I can help further.
Busgeeth Aso, hello and thank you for watching. I am sorry but I am not sure what you mean, I use polymer clay and I'm in various groups like, HOP, hooked on polymer, Polymer clay tribe on Facebook if that helps.

Your covers are so pretty and knowing the nuts and bolts of making and adding them is really useful. So many people ask these questions! xx

Can you use acrylic paint to highlight an area?
After baking on the tile does it remove easily from the tile? Or have I misunderstood and you do not bake on tile?

Patricia Peters, just thought did you mean the tiles on the A5 book I showed? If yes they were about 1.5-2mm thick.
