    I am so glad that you have shared this from last year! Thanks for all the information - 5000 casualties so sad and it's interesting to know all these facts - Picnic Battle - wow - I can't believe people turned up to view! Wow! I love the way you talk as we go through with you! The second battle was even worse.. This is a really great video Alicia!

      It was really interesting to go there and see where the battles took place. It made it so much more real and sad to think about what had taken place. I love history and I think it is important to not forget! Thanks so much for watching Michelle!💛

    wow, yes the carvings are definitely sobering... war is so pointless, I hate that humans use that as a means of "resolving" differences. My dad would really love this, maybe we can visit one day. so glad you pulled this out of the archives for us :) thanks Alicia!

      It was definitely sobering to see those carvings and know the story behind them. War is a hard thing for sure and I think it is important to not forget what happened so that we don't repeat things! Going to places like this really makes it real and more personal. Thanks so much for watching, Jessica!

    Hey girl! This was so cool. I have been wanting to go to Gettysburg for such a long time. This looks like another interesting spot to visit concerning the Civil War.
    Loved the last building. They don’t make houses like that anymore. Wonderful share my dear. Have a beautiful day!🥰❤️🌸🌼🌻

      We made it up to Gettysburg a couple of years ago and it was a great experience! We had plans to go back this May but that won't be happening now, maybe next year. I love historical anything, especially old buildings so that last house was right up my alley! Have a great day and rest of the week Michelle! 😊💖🌞🥰

    This was so interesting, Alicia! I miss living in Virginia❤️ There is just so much history there. You really did your research for this one and I enjoyed learning some new facts about the Civil War.

      Hi Amy! Virginia is an awesome state with all the history! I have really gotten into the Civil War since moving here because there are so many places here that had historical significance related to it. Thanks as always for watching and I hope you and your family are doing well!💛

    Great video, Alicia!
    I went to Manassas National Battlefield Park with my family once, but we didn't do anything. I don't think we knew about the visitor center, farm house, hospital, etc.
    It's definitely very beautiful country around there--Virginia is beautiful, in general. Very beautiful forests, hills, and mountains in the distance.
    Very interesting that the visitor is only closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
    Seeing the carvings in the wood would definitely have made the hospital a lot more real.
    Overall, this was a great video. You gave so much info about the battle and the park. I think this might be another good niche for you: reviews of historical sites!
    Hope all is well, Alicia!

    • @AliciaLynnYT
      @AliciaLynnYT  4 роки тому +1

      That is neat that you have been there! It's too bad you didn't get the chance to do anything there though, it is a really neat place. And I agree, Virginia is beautiful in general. I love how green it is and of course the forests and mountains. I should have said the park is only closed Thanksgiving and Christmas during "normal times". I'm sure most of it is closed right now like everything else! I was really glad we got to see the carvings, that was the best part. Thanks so much, Parnell. I love doing these types of videos, they really interest me but unfortunately they don't do the best. I do them anyway because I enjoy them so much. Plus I like having them for my own memories! Hope all is well with you too!

    • @ParnellTheChef
      @ParnellTheChef 4 роки тому

      @@AliciaLynnYT It definitely is an interesting place. I feel like the beauty of Virginia is more subtle than out West, but definitely still impressive. Even though these videos don't do as well, I think you should still do them once in a while: like you said, even if for your own memory. I know that when I travel, I can have a ton of photos, and sometimes, I think that having a condensed video recap would be nice for a stroll down memory lane. Great work! I am doing well...but a cookie recipe didn't work out...so my unofficial cookie series will be interrupted later today with a backup lol

    We always enjoy these parks. We have a similar battlefield park in Illinois and we go there for a reenactment. Very nice narration, by the way. The Stone House is so beautiful, both the buildings and the details inside. Can't believe it was a hospital. That's so cool she let you go up. It does sound very sobering. Thank you for sharing, Alicia.

    Hi Alicia, this was really interesting! I never knew that about the upper room carvings in the Stone House!This is right in our backyard. :) We enjoy the trails whenever we get the chance. Nearby, in the City of Manassas, they have a Museum as well. And occasionally do Civil War reenactments on the lawn. Once things get somewhat normal again, I'd love to do the tour you did. We've never done that and it looks interesting! Glad you got to go down memory lane.❤ So hard to be away from family during times like this.

    • @AliciaLynnYT

      That's right, I remember you saying you were close to Washington D.C. so this would be really close to you! The carvings were so neat to see. I don't know if they normally have that cordoned off like they did the day we were there but I was glad she let us up there. We didn't get to see the Museum, my brother would love to see Civil War reenactments! He was bummed that he missed them when we went to Gettysburg. It was nice to go down memory lane because I miss my family. It is hard being so far away. Thanks for watching Tina!

So much history and would be a wonderful educational opportunity for kids! I can't wait to travel again too. I bet there are a lot of neat places where you lived in Nashville too. I want to try and get to as many as I can while I live on this side of the country!
