    These short history vids add to the "flavor" of any of your games. I'll give it a 9 out of 10.
    I'll take one off so you keep seeking the 10!

    Loved that battlefield. Visited it all the way from Belgium and I was impressed by the way America perserves its history. Great video, thanks!

    Appreciate the tours and comments you make. It brings the history to life. Not only that, for most who can't make it to these places it is better than a book.

    I really like these historical videos. Greg I was back to the states in 78 on leave and visited Gettysburg battle field, could you ha email been one of the Rangers we met?

      "Back to the states in '78?" That was 42 years ago, Hamm .... mind you, it is rumoured Greg has a "Dorian Grey" type portrait of himself in his attic. 8-)

      Thanks--we wanted to do something other than just visit the 3 or 5 most famous monuments. This park feels famous enough that a lot of people have probably seen the key spots. Always fun to unpack some of the other stories!

    That was awesome. Could you now do the same thing for the other 299 battles? That would be great. :)

    Great job, guys!!! I took this tour myself a few years ago... with the unfortunate result that, I was there to tour for BOTH battles, and didn't *completely* chronicle either of them. Now I'll have to go back and see a few places I neglected to stop at. My highlight? Getting a bit lost in the walking train in the woods north of Matthew's Hill!!!

    I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Manassass - first ACW field I’ve been to. The kids from the local college jog up and down. And my favourite General, Sherman, was on the field - bored out of his skull.

    Wish to thank you from the bottom my heart for this video! My family holds a letter that was written to the mother of a Union soldier family member that died at a field hospital next to running water or creek after being wounded in this battle. If I could ask you guys one thing, was there running water around this church somewhere? Thanks again.

    • @LittleWarsTV
      @LittleWarsTV  4 роки тому

      Thanks Jeromy--and very neat that you have a letter like that from the battle. Sudley Church was one of the largest field hospitals on the battlefield, in part because of the proximity to the church (multiple Union surgeons worked here) and also because the creek. Sudley Springs is right next to the church, providing fresh water.

    I've looked around my town and haven't found a serious wargaming group. There are some in the Twin Cities but that is too far away.

    First signal flags on land battles? The navies had been using them on ships since the 17th century

    • @LittleWarsTV
      @LittleWarsTV  4 роки тому +1

      True, signal flags had been used at sea for a long time and even on land since Roman times, but those were done at the battlefield level. First Manassas is the the first use of long range signal flags from 5+ miles away at a signal station during an active battle.
