I am an attorney and have practiced in the domestic relations field as a litigator and collaborative mediator in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York for 42+ years. I also served on our Appellate Division Grievance Committee for six years. This video hits the nail right smack on the head and should be compulsory viewing for our grey divorce clients and many practitioners who still practice as gladiators rather than peace keepers. No one 'wins' a divorce. The courts can, at best, make the parties only equally miserable. Most folks have no idea what their rights or their obligations truly are under the law and giving clients reasonable expectations is perhaps the most important aspect of my work. I applaud your efforts and look forward to more.

In many grey divorces there will be no alimony. Every case is different and often there is a balancing act involved.

End of 24 year marriage, 1986. I raised out two sons, kept the house, yard and handled ALL household issues. I also had serious illness and could not work. I relived $500 a month as spousal support for one year. Unfortunately, we divorced in July and I was taxed at the much higher tax rate48% a that time. I received $5,000 in income and paid $2,500 in taxes. What a farse.

It appears that the biggest issue to solve in gray divorces is how the alimony gets paid. No child support, no custody, no college to worry about.
    Everything else is 50 50.
I guess the man is going to get another screw job on paying off the alimony. I am sure they take the alimony off his share of the home equity. Then this 70 year old man can find a good double wide trailer and put up a bird feeder. If the women filed, I think she should not get a dime in alimony.

I am the wife who filed for divorce due to domestic abuse. I now have ptsd and am 70 years old. I can't find a job and now cannot make ends meet. My ex was a Dr. And is well off but hid money. Are you saying i dont deserve financial help after 30 married?
