I am wondering how this video was made. Did Picasso paint a little bit and then step back to have that part of the work photographed? How long did it take to make this painting?
I believe this is stop motion and photographed in real time. There was a documentary filmmaker who set up a special easel that allowed them to mount a paper on glass and photographed him working from the other side of the easel. What we are seeing is most likely the back side of the paper that Picasso drew/painted.
