One of the best movies about unfulfilled and unconsumed love. Ultimate one-way romance, perhaps that's what hurts the most, that one party is not even aware of it. I think Renato, aldo he was much too young for her, was the only person who was able to see behind beautiful facade of Malena and admired her acceptance of faith, her grace, dignity and integrity. The ending is possibly the best heart-breaker and tear-jerker I've seen and gets me every time.
Love makes you man or a woman faster than age!The kind of maturity and sensitivity this guy has shown,he is more man than most of greater age that lusted over her body only! I can feel the pain of unfulfilled love and I pity a woman who would not spot such a love and value it because she is limited in her consciousness by social conditioning! Such a guy at 18 wld be more than 40yr old!
Alexx87 he was the only one who was able to see her true beauty because he was the only one who saw what was actually going on with her and understood her circumstances. The boy was the only one who was able to see the details and get a clear picture on who Malana truly was and what she was going through. Nobody else bothered.

So true, the way she walks, the look in his eyes, the oranges and the slight hand touch.. The music lyrical beauty is the good expression to describe it.
What I find beautiful is that, at first he also lusts her, wants her, gets angry because she "betrayed" him. Along as the film go, as he watches her and sees her world (a woman's world through a man's eyes), he becomes more sympathetic with her struggles and more brave to actually do something to help her - he really loves her as an beautiful human being as a whole.

The story is so beautifully written. To the boy, Malena was his entire life, while the boy to Malena, is just a speck within her difficult life. The moment they do finally meet, the boy was just another person Malena briefly interacted with, while the boy, it was the moment he waited for his entire childhood. The light caress of her hand while he helped her gather the fallen oranges, the close proximity he’s ever been closest to her. It was enough for the boy to move on from his obsession and childhood crush of Malena, who wished her luck, when he truly meant to tell her that I loved her.
All those men who were just watching her being beaten up... All of them were first to smash, but not a single one behaved like a real man. They were not men, just little mommy’s boys, like that fat lawyer. Renato was surely different, even though he couldn’t help her at that moment due to his age. He helped her to gather oranges in the last scene - it is a little bit of a help but shows his true manners and the way he treats her... Damn, it is one of the best romantic dramas I’ve ever watched! :0
What got me in the ending was that he called her Signora Malena, something I don’t think anyone else has called her (unless I missed it) there’s that plus the beautiful soundtrack... well there’s no hope after that the tears just started flowing.

Some of the people here saying that Renato is just like the other guys in the story. To some extent, they are correct. But what they failed to see is that Renato himself realized it, and only then he developed as a person and saw Malèna for what she is, beyond her physical appearance. He regretted what he did, and tried to help her to the best that he can.
This made me feel so sad.. this boy loved and was obsessed with her so much. We all have that one person who became a part of our life, loved so much but has to let go. We can only hope that they're happy now with their lives even if they're not thinking about us anymore
I am from India and as a part of our English literature lessons we had to study a short story called ' Salvatore' and while reading it, the way i imagined the whole story, the plot, the setting, almost everything proved to be similar to this film. I didn't had much knowledge about the Italian nation, but the way it was portrayed in the short story and the way i imagined it, almost everything proved to be similar about Italy. Southern Italy at least.
Commenting cause Morricone died. Two of the films I saw with his music was Paradiso and Malena. Liked Paradiso more but for my opinion, this ending song in this scene was one of the best endings I ever saw. Paradiso also had beautiful music. I don't care if you nerd, jock, stoner, etc. but this music is something we all need. Especially with a girl or thinking about life, it is just something that gets to me and makes me think about the nature and realities of life. In general it is something that can ease you and think about the past in good and even bad and just appreciate the moment. RIP to Morricone.

unconditional love
I`ve seen this movie 10.000 times and I cried 20.000 times ! AMAZING MOVIE !
No puedo evitar llorar cada que veo esta parte final me encanta lo que dice y la música instrumental de fondo, que joya 😭😭❤️
The villagers still had not forgiven her. They put an onion in her oranges at 0:41. 😁
Very observant! :D
may be that was from the other bag within it.
You have such a detailing eye. You should be a detective rather
🤣
Great ending. Good background music with Italian words. Perfect ending
The first time he ever talked to her, was a goodbye
0:59 esa sonrisa cuando le dijo señora, sintió que alguien por una vez la trató con respeto.
The movie that changed my life and effected it severely
I can watch this over and over again and it always makes me emotional. Love this film
That's real love. Even when she's no longer as beautiful as before the respect and love never waned from this boy.
This soundtrack is just perfect.
This made me feel so sad.. this boy loved and was obsessed with her so much. We all have that one person who became a part of our life, loved so much but has to let go. We can only hope that they're happy now with their lives even if they're not thinking about us anymore
Oh man I relate to this kid 100%. I had a Malena situation lol. Sometimes we can't get what we want but at least we can't forget such wonders.
Southern Italy at least.
the saying is just pure class
a master piece its hard to find movies like these in 2017 😭😢
Malena is such a Scorpio ❤😢
What an incredibly beautiful ending. That is European movies for you..makes me think of the end of- The name of the rose.
That's my favorite part of the movie, the man with his deep voice managed to summarize the rest of his life in 3 minutes, Bravo 👏 🙌 👍 👌
Grande Italia movie 🟩⬜️🟥🏆 impressione 😭nu uno from 🇰🇷
Only people that saw this movie while growing up will understand, how beautiful and deep it is❤
I always cry in this scene, so beautiful.
This scene make me cry!
so sad. I love this movie
That ending scene! So beautiful
i always come back to this from time to time because it resonates with me so hard, the pain of unrequited love
this scene here made literally made me cry
He was her witness to her suffering
Romantic ending accepting each one's destination. Both played important roles in the movie and were brilliantly performed.
I love this movie. Very moving and touching.
the last lines touched my heart and didn’t let go.
Cursed with beauty
1:53 the background music is something else
This film changed my life
Me encanta esta pelicula es divertida y conmovedora...
Me sigue dando mucha pena por todo lo que pasa Malena hasta el final... 💔😥
Magnificent woman
This is why I love Italy
I came back later 10- 15 days and today I am crying 😭😭😭😭😭😭
