I was married to my wife for 3 years before she died. The same way the boy longed to be with her, the way he dreamed of her with the beautiful Ennio Morricone in the back is how i dream of my wife everyday. She was a gift sent from heaven and our love couldn’t be more perfect. I hold every memory of her in my heart as i listen to this beautiful song. Oh how i wish i could have her once more.

I'm an old guy and think similar to yourself, where has it all gone?
Spent time in Italy as a young man and you can almost feel all those
emotions when walking around such locations. Those times were full
of emotion, the souls of people meant something, far too difficult to
explain or describe but understood by those of that era. I still miss
it! Europe, the world of 2024, knows not of such things and feelings,
the power of within, the value of our souls, the simplicity of life,
all seems to have been buried beneath greed, self interest,
ego, things etc. The saving grace in my final years is that
I experienced those times and all they offered and fed us
humans. A time that will never come again, I bow my
head in the gratitude I retain for having walked through
such times and amongst such people :)

@@TheLastSongbird124 I visited Italy often in the 70s and 80s and although the 50s and 60s era was gone the memory of it was still present- everywhere. It was not hard to take in the mood, feel the permanence of the places and see the people playing out the age-old game. Young people, passionately in love, or heartbroken. Old people content and in quiet contemplation, blinking into the mild Mediterranean sun.

They say Hans Zimmer's music touches the soul and that might be true. But Morricone's music takes you on a journey that breaks the hardest heart or strengthens the weakest resolve. I've listened to his music since the 60's and his music's impact has never diminished.

That kind of building is very common in South Italy, where the Kingdom of Two Sicilies was set. It's old, backward, once owned by aristocratic families. You can also see a kind of this in 'The Leopard' by Luchino Visconti or in 'Montalbano' as well. Sicily, Pulia (especially Lecce), Naples area are filled of them.

Good afternoon! You're right Ennio Morricone is a wonderful composer. But I'm so sorry that you couldn't hear the music of our composers, because you always thought, that there can be nothing great in Russia. Decide for yourself. Here, for comparison, are two identical pieces of the film La tenda rossa, one with the music of Ennio Morricone, and the other with the music of Alexander Sergeyevich Zatsepin:
      ua-cam.com/video/yfWVi8gAIuo/v-deo.html
      ua-cam.com/video/sEo_dcqbh9g/v-deo.html

This film is a masterpiece. Although the narrative focuses on a young boy's coming of age blissful/painful romantic yearning, through his eyes we also see the tragic story of a woman's false condemnation, suffering, but ultimate redemption and forgiveness. One of Morricone's most haunting and wistful music scores skillfully conveys the young boy's yearning as well as his bittersweet awakening to the realities of the adult world.

This may sound cheesy, but I remember the first time I watched this movie, I was 18 but still, essentially, just a kid (like most 18-year-olds, I guess?). Now, almost 10 years later, as a grown woman, I don’t know that I would be able to sit through the entire film again. There’s a perfect word to describe this feeling in Russian, душераздирающий, which has no equivalent in English. Literally translated, it would be “soul-shattering”. That’s how I feel when thinking about this movie. It is beautiful and I’m glad it exists, but Malena’s fate is just so heartbreaking.
