  • These young rock iguanas are going to be the tamest I have offered yet, at this age. I will also show any of the babies on phone video acting just like this one if you are interested in purchasing one. And remember they are the smartest reptile species in the world! Text Dave Durham Lizards at 559-259-6567 for pricing.

    He's adorable! Wish I had enough space for another large lizard.

    He is very animated, appearing catlike curious. Are rock iguanas this curious/animated when they are grown? Are all young iguanas this animated?

    • @DaveDurham
      @DaveDurham  Рік тому

      These and other rock iguanas are very curious, I think because they hunt and live on an island in the wild, it might make their curiosity even more pronounced'. Thanks for watching

    Got to love Cyclura , havnt had my year old rhino iguana locked up for over a month , he free roams where ever he wants since his too big to get under most things.
    . completely tame with no fear , to the point he terrorizes my golden retrievers ,
    in the morning its a battle for who eats whoses food , iguana wants the dog food , dog wants the tortoise chew , everyone but the cat wants the cat food.....
    this week his new thing is to take over my bed at night so i have to sleep with a lizard ......
    how do you think a female would do with my rhinoceros male? heard its not good to mix different types even tho they are both Cyclura?
    maybe interested after the winters over , but not sure i like how mine is acting and dont want to screw up his behavior throwing a female in the mix.

      I love free roaming iguanas! Most of mine now would be free roaming cept the dogs. I dont like having a lizard in my bed, but I have had to put them under the covers to keep them warm. ( living in a travel trailer while I was building our house) But it wasnt comfortable! Your rhino might not be a good (friend) with a Cayman Brac, mainly because they look different. I am trying to have my green and Cayman Brac mate, no luck yet. Rock iguanas will kill if not compatible, even if the same size. I do think the two types will not make a difference in mating success, I have heard either the Cayman Brac or the Cuban, one of them has successfully mated and had offspring in the wild. I believe in Puerto Rico. If true, then I would believe two Cyclura could mate. I would try first with a 1 or 2 year old male and a 3 or 4 year female, the female should be a little bigger then the male, which would be different with the same species.

    Absolutely amazing and you truly did a great job taming them. If you don’t mind me asking how much are you changing for them??

      Right now they are 450. The price does go up as they grow :) I mean dog tame iguanas dont come around often :) . I would trade with you, but like I said I am not getting monitors anymore. But if I did I would get one of them CB Savs you have. I know if you keep monitors tame like you you have yours then when they grow up they make great pets. The biggest herd of little monitors I ever hatched was just 17 Black throats, nothing like that ground shaking record of 83 like you. I hatched mine out in 95, and didnt know anything about piping or incubation temps. If you dont mind me asking what were your incubation temps? I hatched my Black throats at 84 to 86 I believe. My rock iguanas go from 86 to 96. Them little Black throats were a lot of fun while I had them.

      @@DaveDurham not a bad price at all will be talking in couple weeks. Basically hatched mine at the same temps as well and yeah it was definitely a lot of fun with all those little mouths to feed. That’s why I call them my little gremlins now. But honestly one of the greatest highlights of my life it’s something I’ve always wanted to do.

      @@DaveDurham yeah definitely my favorite part of keeping reptiles. My next endeavor is getting a pair of sailfin dragons and one of your babies and then another one down the line to have a breeding pair. I don’t have any plans to breed them right away but I usually always get pairs just to observe how they act together and maybe down the line get some babies. Specially threatened species I find more important to keep breeding pairs for insurance.

      @@pumpkinchow I do like the Sailfin! That would be great to get a pair of them producing, there should be a lot of info about them. I am going to mate a 2 year old male Cayman Brac with a 3 year old female, maybe. I want to see if the eggs would be viable. My problem right now is incubators, but I am hoping to use a Hobart in 2023 for some eggs. I can only keep them at hi 90's in this house. I lost 20 eggs with the little black and or orange incubators that have cold and hot. I have had them fail 3 times now, but thats when I was keeping the temps at 86 to 90. I have made incubators before, what kind have you used?
