The "girl" was probably the reason why this movie was able to get made. Chinese investors often want a Chinese national in the cast. In this case "Tencent Pictures" which is a Chinese production company and helped fund the movie.

The recontextualization of John Goodman’s character’s motivations after watching Monarch: Legacy of Monsters are what makes this film so much more tragic. He went to Skull Island to get answers, for Lee. He died searching for answers, for Lee.
yea, monarch legacy of monsters just gave soo much depth to his character. this is how shows and movies should connect to one another..

I like the 1976 King Kong with Jeff Bridges and Jessica Lange more. Not to take anything away with the King Kong with Jack Black, his was good too.

He also played Kobo in the new Planet of the Apes movies. I’ll always remember him from RocknRolla though, he was brilliant.
In previous King Kong films, he usually has a fight with a t-rex esque dinosaur. The director wanted something different and some ideas ranged from serpentine dragons to a creature with a buzzsaw head. The skullcrawler was settled on based off a two legged lizard that actually appeared in the 1933 King Kong. It was also developed with the director's other indpirations in mind like from Spirited Away and Evangelion.

There's a "forgotten" King Kong from 1976.
The classic version, Kong falls in love, ends on skyscraper in NY.

Not forgotten. The sequel to that movie is not remembered a lot. Kong survived the fall after they gave him an Open Heart Surgery. Stars Linda Hamilton from Terminator fame.
I was kind of disappointed the first time I saw this because being a fan of Peter Jackson's King Kong, I wanted an emotional connection with the movie. But the one thing I liked was the aesthetics. But now rewatching without any expectations like that and knowing this is a part of the Monsterverse, I enjoyed this way more.
Loved them both but Peter Jackson's movie didn't know when to stop with his fx scenes.
The Trex scene against Kong with the vines in the valley went on way to long, like a LOTR movie...
Was beautiful though....
One of the great things about this movie is that it's not dark all the time, so you get to see the incredible details of the monsters in the daylight.
Yesssss thank you, thank you, thank you I am a huge King Kong fan even the older movies I feel like a little kid rn. I feel Kong deserves all the love my boy is either trying to protect himself or his home he isn’t just a mindless monster. it’s also mad impressive he is able to protect, fight, and use his surroundings all as a teen keep in mind he isn’t full grown so the fact he was solo holding it down is impressive I love Kong ONLY reacts when he needs to they came into his home causing chaos 🤷🏾♀️

Fun Fact: Toby kebbell (The English-sounding American Soldier Person with the Billy Boy Son...) did some facial acting for Kong in this movie.
He also played "Koba" in "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" alongside Andy Serkis...who played King Kong in the Peter Jackson film in 2005.
Corey Hawkins played Dr. Dre in straight outta Compton. Not P. Diddy.

There's five Marvel actors in this film. Great Cast.
Samuel L. Jackson and Brie have done their best performances outside of the MCU; Tom Hiddleston's best work is in the MCU. So calling them “Marvel actors” is funny to me.

@@dimensionzone8048 All of them were popular before working for Marvel movies, and most of the actors best performances are outside of the MCU. Just because some people are casual and watch five movies a year, it doesn't mean they are Marvel actors when they have bigger careers outside of Marvel. A lot of them are even Oscar-Emmy’s nominees-winners, so definitely way more than just Marvel actors.

Kong is my favorite monster in cinema ever since i was a baby pretty much...he's the 8th Wonder of the World for a reason 😎 would love for you guys to check out the original King Kong from 1933 & Peter Jackson's from 2005...both very different but both phenomenal 😎

I love this movie, especially the cinematography and lighting. Every shot looks like a panel from a graphic novel. Killer soundtrack too!
The wife most likely hadn't been alone, but those relationships didn't work out. Also, any individual worth their salt will choose to put their kid first over any potential relationships, so make them their focus. She may have also had the support of parents and in-laws while their son was small. Not everyone remarries, for a number of reasons.
i was surprised how much i loved this movie, because I'm not a huge fan of King Kong or Godzilla stuff. But it was amazing, and the characters were easy to get attached to. thanks for watching :D

You’ll know him from films like the Planet of the Apes trilogy where he voiced Koba, and he was Dr Doom in the godawful Fan4stic film, as well as Garsiv in Gyllenhaal’s Prince of Persia.

This is easily the best looking monsterverse movie yet. The cinematography by Larry fong looks vibrant and colorful not to mention so beautiful. It helps they shot it on location in vietnam for the island parts.

I think this movie is completely slept on compared to the rest.
The human characters always suck in this monster universe for the most part but the movies themselves are great and the cinematography is so good.

Kong was created by a variety of old and new methods by ILM including motion capture and keyframe animation. I Agree with you Jaby. I did not care for Brie Larson in Captain Marvel very much. Great reactions to this well made Kong film, Kids!!!!🎬👏👏👏👏

6:35 While what they're doing is disagreeable on a moral level, this is an actual scientific practice called "seismic survey," which has a lot of merit. It's a solid and practical way of mapping the island in the short time Monarch has allotted for their mission.
This movie is actually kind of a masterpiece I feel (at least for the genre and all the tropes, good or bad, one would expect from this type of movie). It's shot well, the action is great, Kong is awesome.
There is credit scene at the very end
I felt the tone of this movie was off because its not really a Kong movie its a straight up horror movie, they even throw in a cannibal holocost reference with the spider impalement. Its basically an adult movie which really should be aimed at kids.

I agree Jaby, I really liked Brie's performance and character in this, and overall, wildly enough, this is a movie where she plays an *actual* female hero unlike the most recent crap. No single gender is portrayed like an idiot, saved by the other gender, etc. She's a hero because she isn't a soldier/former soldier amd all that, but she carries her own and contributes.
In any case, I enjoyed this movie so much, so glad you and Kristen enjoyed it!
And it was for 3d the modern day version of it.
