He reminds me of a young Willie Nelson! He looks a little ruff around the edges, but he's sings so pure and gentle! That's why I'm a fan! I miss the old songs, they used to tell and simple story. Usually about a broken heart, broken love! I'm so tired today of all the sex songs, everybody's pimps and hos! Can people just sing a nice love song or a ballad! Its same with movies today! No romance in this world anymore! Well you keep doing your thing young man, and I'll keep enjoying your performances!
I'll tell you something Son, my one wish for you is for you to have been alive when John was. Keeping his music alive, in the expert manner you do, is reassurance that his wonderful music continues his legacy. You sing and play masterfully. God bless you, Son. I would love to see you on American Idol and/or The Voice.
Whoa Parker Lanier... I've always heard from other guitar players that this is one of the toughest songs to do (chords, etc.) and YOU NAILED IT!!! Awesome job, loved it!!
It's hard to decide what impresses me more about you. With your voice and your playing there is such sincerity, and respect and love for the music, the lyrics. I will say once more, that I believe John would be very proud of what you have done with these songs.
You have the best rendition I’ve ever heard, especially the guitar work. I’m just starting to learn this song now. You have by far the best sound balance between the guitar and the voice. All your other songs are excellent also.
Parker, youre touching my heart and soul with your beautiful renditions of JD's music, at such a young age you get it, and I'm thankful for your care and respect of this music. I'm a fan of yours..
This is absolutely beautiful. Do you realise how good you are? John Denver would be thrilled at your guitar style. You have a gift or is it just hard work?
My musical partner and I have been playing this song since the mid 70s, and yours is one of the most honest, well - played versions I've ever heard! Keep up the good work, and John's Legacy will live on in young people like you. It's your world now!
☑👍Nice so well played _you're a born natural on JD song covers ‼️ I realize JD did not write this song but the first time I heard it was when his Wildlife CD came out and it was aired on TV ; I became so enamored with his acoustic rendition of Darcy Farrow I was determined to learn it , but it took me several years to learn and play it just like John did ; and I had to buy his lead guitarist CD "learn to play JD songs" to pick up on the proper way of how John played Darcy Farrow ⁉️🤔😊
And Ian & Sylvia were first to record it in 1965 on their "Early Morning Rain" album. It's a bit annoying people give Denver undeserved credit. This is a beautiful version.
I’ve just discovered your work. This a splendid rendition of the song. Excellent diction, timing and finger style. A real joy. May you go from strength to strength.
Im speechless i compared your cover to johns live theres vary vary little difference i can truly say out of upmost respect for mr denver he would be extremely grateful and proud of you keep up with his music
You touch the deepest recesses of my heart and soul! You are extremely talented and I love your work. I would love to record a couple of songs with you like I Guess He'd Rather Be in Colorado. A beautful song with two good guitarist. God's Peace My Friend!
Great job...I tried to sing this song on stage...couldn't get it done...tears..you know? You did it here for all the world to see...that's doing something! I tip my hat to you ‼️🤠😎🌹❤️🌹
What a nice song!! Thank you for sharing it. you gave me trembling excitement with your talented voice and the sound of the guitar! I love this song, JD, and of course you. I pray for your excellent work from Japan!!
So much subtler than the actual composer Steve Gillette's flat picking, and better than Denver's cover in fingerpicking. I have finger picked it for years, but this is so clean and clear that I hear notes and intervals that I never heard before. And the voice is haunting. This is what this song has been waiting for.
@@ParkerLanierMusic Thank You for the reply. I spent two years at a Navy base in Argentia, Newfoundland and Ian & Sylvia kept me sane. I am 77 now and still sing this. I have their albums from Vanguard, Northen Journey 1964, So Much For Dreaming 1967 ,and Ian & Sylvia Great Hits double fold out two album set from1971. I had the first one Early Morning Rain but someone snitched it. In the 70's I had gone to Baltimore Inner Harbor and was tied up with a bunch of sailors and we all had a go round, I got up on the back of my houseboat and did this. Now if I could just find a decent old record player!
Tough song and you pulled it off great. You have a stunningly unique voice, your guitar playing is very good, and you have a fine instrument there too! I'm a big JD fan and have been since the 70's. Just found you. I'll look for more of you. Bless you.
Fourth song heard from you.... Damn boy.... You are the next generation of REAL music. We skipped a generation. PLEASE pick up this music for all of mankind.
UA-cam’s clever algorithms know I love this song and delivered your video today. A perfect cover, thank you. The late great Pete Hutlinger taught me Darcy Farrow several years ago on one of his ‘Homespun Tapes’ but I still can’t play it as well as you.
I think this is the best guitar piece you do. So smooth. So beautiful. I’m so glad you’re keeping the greatest singer-songwriter’s spirit alive. I’ve been listening to you for a while. When I’m not sure what to listen to, I return to your channel.
Recently found your music. I am a huge JD fan, and had not found someone who I felt could cover his tunes with justice.....until I heard you. Absolutely excellent! Keep up the great job. As a fellow NC guy, I look forward to seeing you play in Wilmington in March. Hope you play some JD that day.
For the record Darcy Farrow isn't a John Denver song, nor was he the first to record it. Darcy Farrow is a song written by Steve Gillette and Tom Campbell, and first recorded in 1965 by Ian & Sylvia. Your cover is beautifully done, and imho much better than John Denver's!
Parker, great renditions of all your JD covers. I like you're attention to detail. The RMH album in '72 was a big cause of me picking up a guitar. I took some lessons on and off for a few years then just meandered. Learned some basic travis picking ~10 years ago and then started real lessons ~ 2 years ago. I was just learning this from from Pete Huttlinger's "Live" tab version. Got it up up to "flowing mediocrity" after 2 weeks...not a beginner picker for sure. My guitar teacher said 6-7 difficulty. You also got a few of those interesting rolls late in the song from the original album...Parker, you have "snatched the pebble from your master's hand"! (old Kung Fu saying) I was lucky enough to see John in concert once ~1988. (seen Chris Collins twice) I have 3-4 concert DVD's..his quality of playing and singing was just astounding. I see you may take a deep-cut request...how about John's cover of "In The Grand Way"? I know it's a piano song, but...I know you got the chops.

excellent rendition - you honored JD with your work on this sweet old tune.

thank you so much!
This is a Steve Gillette song
One of my favourite songs and now, one of my favourite versions! Perfect vocal, diction and playing.
Your singing has left me breathless. Your guitar and singing is good...... Very good.
Are you the best folk singer that has ever been? Yes you are.

The Wildlife Concert DVD was a huge help for this for sure!
Probably my favourite JD song. Your version is beautifully done and so close to the original. Well done.
Absolutely beautiful!! Masterful guitar playing!!
At 68 I’m inspired to pick up my guitar in my arthritic fingers again! Very nice rendition of a beautiful song.
Go for it!!
Yes, me too.....but then smashed it in frustration! He's good.
John Denver would be very proud of you, young man, excellent rendition😉😉
Tom Campbell and Steve Gillette are the writers/ authors/ composers
of this song! They deserve credit also...have a great week everyone ‼️🌹❤️😎🤠
And Ian & Sylvia were first to record it in 1965 on their "Early Morning Rain" album. It's a bit annoying people give Denver undeserved credit. This is a beautiful version.
It is FAIR to say that Lanier plays the John Denver's version of the song, especially the guitar plucking. Good job Parker.
I’ve just discovered your work. This a splendid rendition of the song. Excellent diction, timing and finger style. A real joy. May you go from strength to strength.
thank you very much!
Totally agree! Darcy Farrow was one of my most played songs back in the day. But I never learned to play it quite like that. Wonderful rendition!
Fantastic cover.
Amazing talent you sing from the heart just like john did and the way you play that guitar is just amazing 👍
Beautiful, especially the guitar part. Thanks for sharing.

I love this song, and this is a wonderful rendition. Great job!!
Well my friend …that was absolutely fantastic!! Pls keep playing and singing !!!!
Great cover of one of John Denver’s best songs. Very well done.
However Denver did not write this one, Steve Gillette did and was recorded by the Tysons 1965
WOW! I’ve never seen a cover this good of this song. Just WOW!!
Where did you learn to play this? I’ve been trying to learn for years
A mixture of watching videos and chord sheets from ultimate guitar. If I remember correctly, the wildlife concert video shows it pretty well!
@@datsyuk13ishI remember the joy I felt when I learned how to play this song so many years ago! Just playing the record over and over! Just keep it up

Great music 👍🏽

Nothing simple about Denver.
exactly! nobody gives him the proper credit that is due!
Excellent! One of my favorite ballads for many decades! Might be nice to note in your comments that the song was written by Steve Gillette.

I don't but there are many chord charts out there and some good videos of John playing the song live that helped me learn it properly!
