Hi how are you i have a 55 galon i have 2 blue acaras how many geos can i put
Those light blue/black/white angels are GORGEOUS!!!
I put a pair of black angels in my 75g. I have the tank backlit and they are so pretty, especially during the “sunset” period.
We often miss the amazing detail on subtlely coloured fish. When you get close they can be stunning up close with good lighting. Lovely footage guys ❤
Both Jason and Joanna’s channels feature exquisite videography, along with good ideas and solid information. Some of the best fish footage on UA-cam!
That is a great selection of top 5 center Peace fish thanks for sharing
I've been looking at getting a 55, So this was really helpful. thanks. Keep up the good work!
Nice variety! I have a Gold Severum in one of my 55-60 gallon tanks and he does great with the others! Thank you. My goal is to get some Geophagus some day!
Great video thanks for the info. You two are the best.
I like this Angel's are my fav from way back and the Geophagus Tapajos are my new favorites. Been looking to add a couple to my 55g.
useful and informative; as always
My type of video! I have both Pearl Gouramis and Electric Blue Acaras in a 55 gallon. I'm also attempting to add Rainbow Cichlid.
Great video and ideas! My 55 has a few each of platys, swordtails, and albino corys. My centerpiece fish is a solid red beta named Hal. He’s such a character. If you’re a Kubrick fan you now why he’s named Hal 😂 He really stands out with his bright color compared to the others. I think he knows it too. ❤
Thanks for this
Excellent list. I would add the Elephant Nose. A well placed partial cave and you’ll see them all the time. Also… Festivums.
Thanks. Great Video. My Angel just passed last week and I am looking for a new center piece fish. I am limited to the 55gal. Now I have some good choices to check into.
I recently subscribed, I'm getting into the aquarium hobby. I've got a 30 gallon tank now, pretty much a holding tank for plants. And a few Cory catfish.
I've got a 20 gallon high, a 50 gallon, 2 ten gallon and a 5 gallon empty and waiting. Great video, excellent content as always.
Have fun!
Watched this when i was setting up my 55. I ended up going with an EBA. Couldn't be happier, he's a hoot. It's been amazing watching him grow over the last six months.
What all did you stock it with ?
A Red Tail Shark in a planted tank looks pretty cool.
Ditto, I had 1 Red-finned (Raibow?) Sharkminow in 40 gallon, now moved into 190gallon. Lively (not-so) little fish, one cannot overlook even with Angelfish in the same tank. I expect Red Tail to be similar.
I got some baby geophagus tapajos from you guys at the fish swap and there all looking good
Awesome!
I absolutely LOVE the pearl gourami but I also love geophagus... they are probably my top 2! But the electric blues???? I love the all!!!😂
That’s how we wind up with a lot of tanks. Haha
Can y’all do 110 gallon? Love this!
Well, you had the centerpiece fish that I have in both of my 55s! I have two female pearl gourami and at some point I'd love to find a male to go with them. They live with platys, corys, black neons, and panda garras in a planted tank.
My other 55 is also planted, and I added a young electric blue acara about a month ago. He's doing well, leaving the plants alone and absolutely slaughtering the ramshorn snails. I have to make sure he gets food because he's not as quick as the Odessa barbs and diamond tetras, but he's not terrible about it, either.
Discus. this is a great size tank for three or four discus. But water parameters and temperature must be a consideration. And a heater will definitely be required. Because of the higher temperature they prefer, your other fish selection will have to consider to go with them as higher temperature tend to reduce life expectancy of other fish. Can be pricey but if gotten young it is not to bad. Like the angel they seem to be a regal fish and move so gracefully. Their care is a little more but I believe it is worth the effort. But the extra care you give them make you appreciate them even more.
Nice video
Definitely consider Congo and Diamond tetras, as well as Rainbowfish!
In my 55g I have denison barbs, praecox rainbows and 1 angelfish. 6 assorted corys, 2 gold longfin bristlenose plecos, 1 golden zebra loach and a few platys. That seems overstocked but I run 2 seachem tidal 110s and the denison barbs have lots of open swimming area and they even school with my praecox rainbows sometimes
Well I am feeling pretty good about this list...I have a 75gal and have the EBA, the Pearl Gourami, and after searching a while for the Geo Tapajos unsuccessfully, I managed to find an Albino Geo Tapajos...hoping it will have the same temperament.
I had a pair of Salvini that bred, they were in a 65 actually, but they would go great in my new 55.
I just bought a 60 gallon tank, went from a 29 gallon tank. I plan to put in Mbuna cichlids; angelfish, electric blue acara, rams, discus, labs, and johanni.
I might just stick with the mbuna? The other fish will probably be killed by them.
Those are all beautiful fish angelfish can be jerks they are cichlids
You guys are great a d love ALL your videos. I have a thought for the 55. Would a Pearl Grouami, Acara, and Angelfish (all singles) do ok?
That can work. Thank you!
Pearl gouramis are an awesome fish. I currently have a blue betta as a centerpiece in my 60 gallon, but he’s a little more of a gamble…
Just a follow up - I had to pull the betta out. He was the second one I’d tried in that tank, but he ended up chewing on my fancy guppy males. I’ve heard, and believe, that some male bettas can live harmoniously in community aquariums, but from here on out I prefer not to risk it.
Another similar/alternative fish to the Guianacara might be the Biotodoma
I was wondering if i could keep one geophagus tapajos with a few angel fish.
Fantastic choices. Do you think these choices would make a meal out of green Neons or Embers in a community tank?
Possibly - the Pearl gouramis should be ok though.
@@PrimeTimeAquatics Thank you. I definitely want a showcase fish for my 55, but I love my Tetras.
You could add some Buenos Aires tetras fast swimmers and beautiful fish. They get 4 in or so
I have an angel in my 55 community tank, and she does a good job of keeping the platy fry... well, nonexistent. They're amazing for population control too!
I’m a fan but I live in holland. And we use centimeters en liters. So if you can say that also I would like that. Greets from holland. Frank
Hello @PrimeTimeAquatics, Great video!! I have a question, I have a male Laryngeal molly that has popeye. How can I successfully treat this? Do I have to separate him or is it okay to add the meds in the tank with the other fish? Is that my 10 gallon quarantine tank is occupied now. Thank you in advance
If the molly is the only sick fish it might be easier to put him in a hospital tank with less water volume? You could try Kanaplex?
@@PrimeTimeAquatics Thank you!
Great video! How many angelfish would you recommend for a 55 (with tankmates)?
Lots of people start with 5-6, but often wind up keeping one or a pair because they can sometimes be hard on one another when they get larger.
@@PrimeTimeAquatics thanks! Would getting 4-5 be worth the try? And if it is, would it be better to start out with more or less?
How many of those 5 fish species can coexist with the others?
(The afore mentioned breeding contingency not withstanding)
In a 55 gallon? I might just choose only one cichlids and the pearl?
@PrimeTimeAquatics Ah, yeah... I forgot the little caviot that the whole video was for fish to go in a 55g. I was thinking in general, in a tank of appropriate size. My bad. Dumb question.
Super unrelated question lol
I'm just curious as to what your thoughts are on a species only tank of Neolamprologus brichardi in a 75. My only concern is my water is around a neutral PH but super soft, like 1-3 kh and gh. I know you personally have hard water yourselves, I just want to know if I should use some sort of buffer or if you would think it would be ok.
You might consider a buffering substrate like crushed shells or crushed coral. I think SeaChem may make a formulated African cichlid substrate. My crushed shells actually came from a feed store, where they are sold cheaply as a calcium supplement for poultry.
BTW, brichardis are a truly lovely fish!
You could try CaribSea Cichlid mix as your substrate. That usually helps.
@PrimeTimeAquatics another question, could I keep a group of 5 SAE with them?
So I have a 85g and it's fairly heavily planted...I have 2 congo tetras 3 Cory's 3 Angel fish 1 red head topajos...also a male frontosa around 6in...my question is do ya think I'm over stalked? I know the frontosa will get huge over a very long time n may need a bigger tank in a couple years...they all get along great w no issues.
Not at all. You could certainly add more Cory cats and congos if you wanted.
I already have a pair of electric blue acara in my 55 tank, what would you recommend for some tank mates for these guys?
This may help - somewhere around the 3-4 minute mark? ua-cam.com/video/FvT_E4toJQ0/v-deo.html
7:15 Does anybody know what these two fish are called, specifically? What kind of angelfish is this, I wanna consider getting one for my blue themed community tank!
Can the electric blue acaras go with other Acaras such as the electric yellow acaras, I’m looking for a variety of different fish for my tank I’m new so I’m totally lost
Most likely it would be ok.
I bought a 55 gallon tank not knowing anything about anything about aquariums. But i am an angler and i want to have a 10 inch bluegill in it. Is it too narrow for the 10" bluegill? I iwll have only 2 bluegill in the whole tank..
Ya, they will be very cramped in a 55.
I have a 75 gallon that has been set up for 7ish years. Everyone has moved on other than the EBAs. I want to add some large body tetras for movement and one or center piece fish. If I can get a decent sized angel I might do that and some red eye tetras. Can I do a solo tapajo or do I need more than one, because that might be too many fish living in lower third with EBAs. Thanks
A solo tapajos will work out just fine!
What you recommend that I get that can live with an upside down Brown Spotted Catfish.Several fish stores recommend Rainbow fish and Buensareies Tetras🐡🐡🐡🐠🐠🐟
Both would work!
I would go with a blood parrot
Can some one help me, the Geophagus Tapajos are listed in the Netherland to be around 8 to 10 inches, here I hear you say around 5 inches. Does this depend on the tanksize then?
Nope - many geos get to 8-10”, but these rarely get larger than about 5”.
@@PrimeTimeAquatics oke thank you!!
Right, all cichlids tend to be more aggressive when breeding, even small ones like Rams.
I like the list, I'd note with Angelfish taller tank is better, but normal 55gallon should be fine. I'd probably add single Red-finned Shark-minnow as a centerpiece to the list. Pack of Paradise fish look great in such tank. Or a small group of some small cat-fish like the Lizardtail Pleco (Rinnelocaria) or large corries may look great as a center-piece.
The Red Tail Shark can be really rough on other fish when they get larger though.
Jason, I have a 65 gallon tank with 2angel 1 small electric blue Acara and a baby geophagus redhead. The Acara is a little aggressive, I heard a school of tetras might help to calm him down. I am thinking of red and blue Colombian tetras, will they be okay with the angels or can you suggest something else. I just subscribed to your channel, you don’t live too far from me, I live in Munster Indiana. Thank
Those could work!
Would the gouramis eat my neon tetras? Also the blue arcras?
The acaras might but gouramis probably would not.
hi i heard with angels that they cant be with mollys or betta is that correct
I have kept them with mollys without issue. The question will be what happens with the betta.
Can an electric blue acara and angel fish live together in a 75 gallon tank
Sure
Can you do one on 30 gallon tanks?
Here you go: ua-cam.com/video/qLj3MhKR78w/v-deo.html
I have a 3feet x 1 feet x ( 2 feet height ) tank....how many blue acaras can I keep in this tank ?
I might just go with one as the center piece for the aquarium?
Building a 55 gal now. How many of each fish would be a suitable amount?
It depends on the fish. Usually if they pair up they can be more territorial. One is always safe to start.
How many Blue Acara could fit in a 55? Are they better in groups?
You could start with 4-6 and move some out if necessary later?
What about african jewel fish?
Yes!
I had a kissing fish gourami and it was super aggressive, to the point where it made me not like them.
What tank mates do you recommend for the Electric Blue Acaras? And how many would you recommend in a 55 gallon tank?
This video should answer all that: ua-cam.com/video/FvT_E4toJQ0/v-deo.html
How do I feed my Cory catfish my other fish eat there food?
Just a matter of getting enough food to the bottom of the tank - sinking pellets and mine swarm the Northfin Kelp Wafers.
How can you tell the difference between a male and female angel fish?
Mostly size and sometimes body shape, but it’s hard to see unless you have a pair in front of you for most people.
How many tapajos can fit in a 55
Long term a pair can work.
I tried some silver dollars before but turns out they are too active and I end up upgraded the tank for them😂
When is your next live? I have a problem.
Wednesday 8pm CST
I have two gourami one beautiful blue one and the other a sunset yellow. Today my sunset gourami died it's absolutely horrible. I think it was because he had some problems with his scales and when I tried to treat the problem and I believe that "medicine" ended up killing him. It was API pimafix I would not recommend
And hey guys I’ve been slowly introducing Amazon swords and lily’s into my 75gal severum tank and so far they’ve not eating any.
Saya ingat bahwa Firemouth adalah makluk hidup yang, kalau di analogi kan sebagai manusia; adalah sebagai berikut:
Tahu ”lawannya” bersenjata pistol, tetapi mssih tetap berani maju menantang walau hanya bawa pisau.
Ini terjadi saat firemouth ku ”menantang” red maruliodes 20 cm ku.
1 tindakan yang saya ambil: keluarkan firemouth.... Selagi masih hidup.....saat itu kepala nya sudah dicaplok Red Maru
Guess the Red Maru is no longer a living being then…
I’ve heard that Firemouth Cichlids frequently use threatening display behaviors (flaring their brightly colored gills) to visually intimidate rivals, but don’t always do so well in fights with other aggressive fish.
@@bobmorgan476 My Red Maru still okey, life a good live.
My Firemouth still okey, life a good live.
They are in a separate tank now.
If i acted minutes late, take firemouth out the mouth of maru and out of that tank.....
@@budiawan1784 Glad to hear it!
I have horrible luck with blue acarras bought 2 in past few months and both got murdered horribly
Sorry that happened
Could you please give the real latine name of the fishes, for european fish keepers it is difficult to understand the species you're talking about.
Shoot I have different types of Guianacara and they are bullies.
The Guiancara are beautiful but horrible parents. They seem to get spooked easily. They just dart away from the babies leaving them to fend for them selves then the other guiancara swooped in for a feee snack. The babies I had from them lasted about 3 days before they were eaten because the parents would dart away every time someone walked in the room. 🫤
