It’s so refreshing to see someone genuinely excited for 1.19 instead of calling it a major disappointment and complaining a bunch. I was smiling the whole time as I watched this, you’re amazing Pix.
You'll get an ominous lighting effect when you leave a light source under the mangrove tree root blocks. Replace the 3rd block beneath the ground with a light source block so that you'll have a dim light shining through the roots. I like hidden torches and lanterns, and still getting the spawnproof effect.
It’s crazy how some people have been complaining there’s “not much” to this update and yet you spent thirty minutes covering only a fraction of it!! This episode didn’t even get to cover the dried mud blocks, frogs, or even chest boats! Let alone the other new mobs (allay, warden), new biome (deep dark), and new - HUGE - structure (ancient city) and all of the blocks and mechanics being added with those as well. I and SO EXCITED for this update and to see how you decide to cover it all in the SG world!! Thank you for continuing to provide amazing content!!
If you really tried you could cover all the features in moderate detail in like 30 minutes. I like Pixlriffs particularly because of how deep he goes into detail But let’s be honest, 80% of this update we’ve been waiting for *2 years,* plenty of time to get that stuff out. The main reason this update “isn’t much” is because the majority of it we’ve been waiting for it for 2 years, take that out it’s literally just a swamp and an irrelevant mob
@@dtslawyer6970 I see where you’re coming from, but the initial 1.17/18 split was for the mental health of the employees at Mojang, so you can’t really fault them for that. And delaying the warden further allowed more detail to be put into the mob and its environment. On top of that, it always feels like we are waiting so long because updates are announced so far in advance. Like I said, I get it, especially if you’re not really into some of the things that have been added. But these updates are FREE DLC that Mojang is under no obligation to keep providing for players. So maybe this update isn’t what you’re looking for - the next one might be. Or, like me, it’s not one thing from one specific update, but the amalgamation of all the updates that come together in this game that I really enjoy playing and watching content from. You’re entitled to your opinion, and of course everything about 1.19 COULD be fit into a 30 min video, but that doesn’t mean it should. And just because you see some of these things as irrelevant, doesn’t mean we all do. I don’t mean to ‘come at you’ or whatever, but all I did was leave a positive comment because I’m happy and excited for this update. So idk why you felt the need to comment something negative in reply.
The mangrove swamp biome is so nostalgic for me. Some of my favorite places to go during vacations are small islands and from where I'm from these small islands typically have winding mangrove forests when you're near a coastline but not at the beach. So when I wanted to walk away from the beach I used to see these things and their roots all over the place where I used to walk around with friends. There's also a small mangrove plantation where I take my walks and jogs every week so seeing a tree in minecraft that's a typical part of my life is such an amazing thing to have, I typically don't see oak trees, birches, or spruce so this is definitely a treat.
That's delightful to read. I'm very familiar with oak and birch trees - I see hundreds of them every day, but I've never seen a mangrove swamp in real life. I'm quite excited to see something new (to me) in Minecraft.
Hello Pixlriffs I've got something you may appreciate! You can plant sugar cane on mud which makes the automatic farms hopper-minecart-free. This lets us use hoppers below the mud which drag the items through the mud although it looks like a full block!!😃😃
Auto-growing propagules via mangrove leave placement? Using ender chest loot drops for constructing new nether portals? Using the newly-added mud block as both a fall-damage platform and an item collecting material? Genius. Pix, your intellect keeps shining and your videos never cease to entertain.
My new favourite Biome! I'm so happy that these spawn in warmer climate areas cause Savannah Builds are really gonna be improved by the Mangrove Blocks
I love *everything* about the mangrove biome--all the mangrove wood variants, the roots and leaves; all the mud and mudbrick blocks, everything. You can make renewable mud and clay, too. And of course I also like the frogs and ... chestboats! I've been wanting chestboats for ages. I'm excited to start a new 1.19 world and make a base in a mangrove swamp.
I found a mangrove biome and it's ethereal!! Swimming through it with all the tropical fish really does feel like you're in a real mangrove!! I want to make a base there but at the same time I don't want to mess it up gaaahhh it's gorgeous! But boy is it a process collecting the wood.
You make me wanna pick up Minecraft again! I think I'll start a new world later today. Can I just say....mangrove logs look like square beets? Like if you cut the top off a beer, you've got the red inner part with some rings and the brown/grey "skin"

@@danielfc yeah! I don't want todo it alone because it'll be such an interesting experience. At least the Warden isn't there immediately, you just have to be incredibly quiet and strategic and accept that death will happen.
I for one really love the you can’t fully automate the production of mud blocks and the derivatives. In the reveal during Minecraft Live, Agnes (I think) mentioned their intent to incorporate aesthetics from different parts of the real world into Minecraft. In real life, the people who use mud bricks traditionally definitely didn’t have machines to produce them, so they crafted the bricks, and in turn their buildings, by hand. I like the idea of Mojang having us learn about world traditions and cultures through the enjoyment and experiences of Minecraft, and it’s truly incredible they made a game where this can happen.
Fun fact: you can place and grow these Mangrove Propagules underwater. I think it's the only tree sapling that can do that. But yeah, went into my Bedromcraft world in Minecraft, my Peaceful/Easy Mode Survival World on Minecraft Bedrock and went to the Mangrove Swamp that was located next to a desert according to the Seed Map website. It's about 1,000-2,000 blocks South East from where my Spawn is on my seed. Very far, but worth the trip. Found a desert village that crosses over into a Mangrove Swamp, it even has a very small desert pretty similar to what Pixlriffs has but smaller. The Mangrove Swamp was very dense that I had to use a Mangrove Boat with Chest. I LOVE Chest Boats! It helped me out exploring the dense biome. I enjoy the bewildering atmosphere. I think it is good that there's none of that two pixeled mob that the vocal minority wanted so badly. I think the atmosphere is not too bad without them. I named that desert village and the Mangrove Swamp area "Mangle". It's like a mangrove swamp crossed with a jungle. It took quite a while to connect the Nether Portal there to my Nether Hub, but I have established its connections, for now. The Nether Hub in my world is still ongoing. I died once again with neating the paths up from hitting the ground too hard. It's not a surprise since my Nether Hub is in Y levels 79-81 but seriously! It's the third time that I've died recently and all involved doing something to the Nether Hub. Twice previously when building a structure surrounding the "Iron Grove" Nether Portal in the Nether which is established to be my redstone location (once was hit the ground too hard, second... swim in lava... sad). It's pretty much a forest near a mountain which I'm planning on making it a Redstone Park with contraptions and some cabins to liven it up. I have also visited the Deep Dark and an Ancient City, but I will talk about that in the next episode. Let's just say, it was peacefully scary because of the Skulk Shriekers... their sounds are scary. The Warden doesn't spawn on Peaceful, but I was so close to dying again from trying to swim in lava... didn't notice the gap that has lava underneath it. LOL. Thankfully I survived thanks to a waterfall. Some mistakes were made, but I walked away with some great loot. More Enchanted Golden Apples than I was expected, and the "otherside" disc that we all want to get. Go to those Ancient Cities. They're awesome + scary. I'm planning on raiding a Woodland Mansion and an Ocean Monument soon in my Bedromcrft world. Long awaited. Steal Illagers loot and other goodies & blocks without them appearing, "kidnap"/"befriend" the Allays in Woodland Mansions. Mining out Prismarine Blocks, finding the hidden valuable Sponge rooms and... oh... that's all you can do in these Ocean Monuments on Peaceful. OK, that's kinda anti-climatic.
Love to see you work through a machine that will make mud from dirt, then drain the mud to make clay. With that kind of machine you can make clay and don't have to go find it. Great break down. I'm glad to see you can bone meal leaves for propagules.
For farming the mangrove trees by hand, keep in mind that they can grow underwater, so if you've got a tank, maybe with a conduit, you can grow them in a situation where you can just swim up to the top and harvest them that way.
I absolutely love the new mangrove wood, it's such a pretty colour and the door/trapdoor are so cool. in love with froglights too, cant wait to see you get to stuff with frogs
I love they made this pretty wood literally *the most annoying of all* to chop down. Heck, efficiency axes don’t even instamine the roots on Bedrock Edition! Reminds me of the fact that for some reason bamboo (previously), scaffolding, and not this should break instantly when mined with their supposes respective tool (scaffolding being *none*) and yet don’t
I love the way you describe everything in the game, Pix. Just now you're describing mud, trees etc. from a Mangrove swamp. But you've done the same throughout both guide series. So thanks for a very enjoyable series.
Wow. I'm still playing 1.16 due to computer stuff, so this kind of close look into biomes is really cool and informative. Mangrove swamps looks amazing. A few comments on farming: Mangrove trees' roots always grow in a plus shape (as shown by ilmango), so you can plant them in a diagonal line to keep your propagules safe. If you double fire dispensers instead of having four of them around the propagule, you can manual farm them from the side to avoid breaking the leaves or dispensers. Still, a piston is probably the way to go. For the mud farm, instead of filtering the empty bottles you can feed bottles one by one. So whenever a block is pushed, you first unlock a hopper feeding one bottle into the dispenser, then you power the dispenser and finally unlock the hopper below (or a hopper minecart on top of an activator rail two blocks below). Hope it helps!
Great episode! I found a mangrove swmp in the worst place possible in my world, near a windswept savanna , so now mangrove trees were just sitting there on floating islands, but maybe you could use your biome to make a sort of swamp village? The costumes for the villagers look amazing in the og swamps, maybe they are the same here? I don't know, but your choice!
It might be cool to start your own village in a Mangrove Swamp biome. You could do canals instead of streets. Part New Orleans, and part Venice. You can make mud blocks by equipping an empty bottle and holding right-click while you move around a lake/river/ocean bottom. It works best when the water is 1-3 blocks deep. It will fill the bottle and convert dirt to mud like rapid-fire.
Yes! I totally agree that the trap doors remind me of a ship and the doors look really regal and pretty! I explored a mangrove swamp by using the locate command and teleporting there earlier and it took a while for frogs to appear but once I'd found a couple it was like they were everywhere! Mine was also neighbouring a desert and jungle!
Super happy to see someone as excited about mud blocks as I am lol. Yeah, I was disappointed that the Wild Update wasn't as "wild" as I'd hoped, but there's still so much to be excited about in this update! I'm satisfied.
I have a fun build idea! Since you’re already planning on doing things with the Mangroves, a lot of people on the internet have said the logs look like a chunk of meat! I want to go one step further. If you have a stripped log of mangrove and a normal log of mangrove, add in some mangrove roots, and it looks like some people are removing the hide from a carcass!
man, the mangrove swamps are so pretty! i love mangrove forests irl, but i honestly hadn't seen much of what the mangrove forest generation looked like yet (everything i'd seen focused on the deep dark), so seeing it is so nice! i like it a lot!
I'm looking forward to the mangrove wood most of all out of this update so it's refreshingly coincidental that you chose that as the first thing to explore. Love the content!
One thing you didn't mention is that the propagules can be placed completely underwater. You can grow completely submerged trees which looks really funky!!
I think you already know this by now, but mud is a block sugarcane can grow on and it is not a full block. So now there's a lossless auto sugarcane farm that doesn't produce minecart noises
Mangrove Trees are a pain to cut down. I'm glad that most of them are covered in Vines as that makes it easier to climb on top of them and cut them down from top to bottom. They still need to make either the Hoe or the Axe the "tool of choice" to cut Mangrove Roots as they otherwise take too long to cut.
This is exactly what I did when I updated my world - headed straight away to find a mangrove biome. Mangroves and mud bricks are going to be so much fun to build with!
honestly the mangrove wood and mud alone had me hella excited for the update. i cant wait for all my mods/tweaks to get updated so i can start playing in 1.19
I'm in love with this new biome. I was looking forward to this more than the deep dark. But I'm still going to enjoy getting to know the deep dark too.
Aye, the RAIN. But wow, Pix is right on top of the update. I really appreciate these videos, looking forward to exploring a totally new world in 1.19 myself, soon.
Two things you missed...being able to waterlog the mangrove roots (though apparently you can do this to all leaf blocks now?), and more importantly, being able to convert mud blocks into clay using dripstone, using a similar setup to the lava generation...
Awsome video as ALLWAYS !!!! Even if I am having a bad day watching one of your vids takes me to a happy place .. Minecraft and the joy of exploring and building. Thanks again for another uplifting and informative video !!!!!!!
I think the mangrove biome is gorgeous! I had to travel 15000 blocks to find a tiny one but I scooped up some propagules and tadpoles and made my way home. Now I’m populating the local swamp with mangroves. The thing about mangroves is that they are mostly roots and not a lot of wood when you try to farm it. I dunno still trying to figure it out.
Thank you for this video. I really liked the mangrove wood. One of my favourite features about it is that the roots can hold water. I think I saw that in a video made by Cubfan
I'm building a custom village and I replaced my cleric castle with the mangrove door and omg it looks so amazing. It fits the castle design so amazingly and I'm really happy they made it and I just found a mangrove swamp and in the middle with all the sand im making a base there. I moved a hill by my base so replacing the sand with dirt is not gonna be a problem.
Y'know what would've been neat now that I think about it? A shulker box in a boat. It's like a chest in a boat, but you can pick it up like a shulker box.
The Mangrove wood really would be good for various uses. The logs actually have a kind of roast beef look.🤔 This might be good for a modern city and maybe even a butcher shop. 🤨
Mangrove wood doors have the shape of porta-potty doors and I don’t know if I can ever unsee it now. The circle hole in the trap doors means there’s a clever way to make eyes though on abstract builds.
The wood works like other wood types. The mud makes bricks. But what is the purpose of the roots? I think they should give it better purpose than just rooted mud. Something I wish Mojang would add is making baskets 🧺.
So I started a new world hoping for a mangrove biome close to spawn... and ended up in a village on the edge of an ice spikes biome. Talk about the wrong temperature! But it's so pretty I haven't had the heart to delete it and try again. Just spent the day hurling water bottles at dirt and crafting mud bricks. So many possibilities. Mud, mud, glorious mud.... I'll get to the mangroves one day :)
The ability to edit worlds seems to really breath new life into already well established worlds. I play on Bedrock realms with friends and it is challenging to keep things fresh without abandoning bases and exploring further and further out. The longest standing realm I have is originally a 1.17 world. And we have had to explore 10k blocks out to find truly current world generation. Hence, a few have abandoned old bases to build up completely new ones.
Haven't seen anyone post this tip so I thought I'd post it to help you crafters speedup your gameplay slightly lol. New "boat w/chest" love it but (you or someone) needs to be in the boat to access the inventory. I went to mine a surface cave I found so I put my boat w/chest on the ground outside the cave...upon returning a chicken spawned and hopped into the boat, I had the thought about killing it 🤣 because I needed to use my new chest but to my surprise this chicken in my boat was allowing me to use the chest without myself being in the boat. Simple tip but as a chicken taught me I was hoping I could pass it on 😆 (EDIT) Mind-blowing idea, now if only you could put a lead on your boat it would be like a little pullcart with a place for your chest & your pet to join your adventure.
I wish you could stain wood a different color so like to have the base mangrove trapdoor or door which I love, but in the color of dark oak or something cause the red is a bit much for my usual build taste haha
I paused the video and opened up my test world right when you discovered that propagules could be grown by bonemealing the leaf blocks to make a propagule farm... could have just watched another few seconds. Ah well. I placed my fourth dispenser underneath though - not sure which I like better.
Two science questions! How deep will the muddy roots go? If you grow a tree in a ridiculously tall platform. What happens if it grows without ground around? Like if you grow it in a ridiculously tall 1x1 tower.
you know honestly I am actually so happy that there is a wood type in the game that exceeds like matching expectations of savanna wood because up until now savanna wood has always been my least favorite wood type in the game now the log it's self looks nice in grey build but the planks the planks never looked good with any other wood type not even jungle... not to me but mangrove wood like the logs of it might look like a nice border around acacia walls with a mangrove plank flooring? idk i might have to put the blocks together ._. WAIIIIIIITTTT A MOMENT HERE DUDES! is anyone else thinking they are using the mangrove tree sapplings as a tester for how fruit would look growing on the leaf block itself?? because thats what the propagules look like! they remind me of the fruit trees mod with the apples sitting on the bottom of the leaf block and when you punch it it pops off! >.> maybe this is why they stopped the production of certain forests biomes >.> because they want to see how well the propagules added to the game are!
stipped mangrove looks like those rolls(?) of meat the 6 sided stripped mangrove looks kinda like blocks of meat or ham. actually, the jungle version looks more like ham, the mangrove is just the redder, more raw version. speaking of which, spruce and dark oak could be cooked versions

I was wondering about this. The roots take forever to mine even with the best ax. So it’s a bedrock thing huh? Figures. ! 😢
Never been soo hyped than with the release of this update! Tho I feel bad for the fireflies, they were a big part of this update

I love the way you describe everything in the game, Pix. Just now you're describing mud, trees etc. from a Mangrove swamp. But you've done the same throughout both guide series. So thanks for a very enjoyable series.
I'm in love with mangrove wood , and mud bricks. they look so good I love it. So happy to have a new wood type.
Wow. I'm still playing 1.16 due to computer stuff, so this kind of close look into biomes is really cool and informative. Mangrove swamps looks amazing.
A few comments on farming:
Mangrove trees' roots always grow in a plus shape (as shown by ilmango), so you can plant them in a diagonal line to keep your propagules safe.
Hope it helps!
i love this series so much, especially when there's a new update, so exiting
Propagules can also be used to pollinate / breed bee's, much like a flower would.
Ooh! I didn’t know that. Might have to grow a mangrove tree next to my bee farm ☺️
😣😞I spend whole afternoon and reached 10 000 blocks away but still haven't find a mangrove swamp. The colour of the logs look sooo pretty 😍.
The axe is the preferred tool on Java, but that seems to be missing from Bedrock Edition.
@@Pixlriffs That makes sense. It also makes sense that this is a bug and not intended... thanks!
"Lightsaber being held upside down"

Nice one Pix. thx for the video, love the red texture as well!
i think this update brought another new thing youre gonna like: LEAVES CAN BE WATERLOGGED NOW
i was soooo hyped when i saw that!
Bedrock has had waterlogging leaves for a while. I use them on my farms instead of trapdoors/slabs. So pretty.
It’s been on Bedrock for a while. Weird thing is that the water doesn’t flow out of the block when it should
Those mangrove doors are absolutely wonderful. Definitely going to be utilizing them a lot. A great fit for my mansion!
Idea for a big mangrove project. Make a mangrove village. Like when you built a swamp and jungle villages.
Mangrove roots can also be waterlogged, which allows very compact design of stone generators etc.
The mud looks more like a cursed stone block that would look great in quite a few build pallets.
You cant forget about chest boats!
Aye, the RAIN. But wow, Pix is right on top of the update. I really appreciate these videos, looking forward to exploring a totally new world in 1.19 myself, soon.
Circles... In Minecraft!? I'm pretty sure that's illegal.
Ender pearls: Allow me to introduce myself.
Ooh, flipping the mangrove bark 90 degrees as either a log or wood block looks nice, I bet then it'd blend in nicely with other log types.
Two things you missed...being able to waterlog the mangrove roots (though apparently you can do this to all leaf blocks now?), and more importantly, being able to convert mud blocks into clay using dripstone, using a similar setup to the lava generation...
Love to hear your thoughts on waterloging leaves and the new roots. Along with the not full blocks of mud, I can only imagine the farms.
Awsome video as ALLWAYS !!!! Even if I am having a bad day watching one of your vids takes me to a happy place .. Minecraft and the joy of exploring and building. Thanks again for another uplifting and informative video !!!!!!!
I love the mangrove wood color! So much potential for building.
Those root blocks can be water-logged by the way. The water doesn't flow out, but it can still be used for cobblestone generators and the like.
Do they catch on fire though?
@@Pixlriffs I don't think so. Not while water-logged.
Super hyped for all mud blocks
I love this new update!
Mangrove wood looks great. We have renewable clay now! Mud is an awesome brick.
1.19! That should be fun! I’ve only just gotten over 1.18. Now another one?! 😂 good job my world hasn’t been explored fully then 😂
Thank you for this video. I really liked the mangrove wood. One of my favourite features about it is that the roots can hold water. I think I saw that in a video made by Cubfan
I found a mangrove and was very excited. Can’t wait to build with the mangrove wood and mud bricks
The mangrove swamp gives me the same vibes as the lego dinosaur hunter sets from the early 2000s lmao
Just wanna thank you, your videos have taught me a lot 🙏
I'm building a custom village and I replaced my cleric castle with the mangrove door and omg it looks so amazing. It fits the castle design so amazingly and I'm really happy they made it and I just found a mangrove swamp and in the middle with all the sand im making a base there. I moved a hill by my base so replacing the sand with dirt is not gonna be a problem.
I got a mangrove swamp area biome mixed with other biomes as a random seed. I also got the new HD realism texture pack. It looks real and stunning.
The mangrove planks look really good
Y'know what would've been neat now that I think about it? A shulker box in a boat. It's like a chest in a boat, but you can pick it up like a shulker box.
boat chests too! ♥
I realllyy love watching you figure out redstone stuff! Can you stream doing this in your creative world pleasee?
You can also plant the propogule in water 🌱
The Mangrove wood really would be good for various uses.
The logs actually have a kind of roast beef look.🤔 This might be good for a modern city and maybe even a butcher shop. 🤨
"This time I do have a flint and steel in my..no I dont" 🤣🤣🤣
Mangrove wood doors have the shape of porta-potty doors and I don’t know if I can ever unsee it now. The circle hole in the trap doors means there’s a clever way to make eyes though on abstract builds.
Oh my goodness mangrove wood is so beautiful I think it's my new favourite wood type!
The wood works like other wood types. The mud makes bricks. But what is the purpose of the roots? I think they should give it better purpose than just rooted mud.
Something I wish Mojang would add is making baskets 🧺.
You should try recreating mangrovia from empires.
Thanks Pixelriff, I for one think this is a really good update not too sure what all the fuss is about personally.
Cool vid, have not played in a while and you are helping me discover out what I missed
Can't wait for your showcase of frogs they are just so adorable 😍 and derpy
I paused the video and opened up my test world right when you discovered that propagules could be grown by bonemealing the leaf blocks to make a propagule farm... could have just watched another few seconds. Ah well. I placed my fourth dispenser underneath though - not sure which I like better.
Video title: exploring our first mangrove swamp
Actual content *pix fangirling abt mud* :D
your so lucky, when I found a mangrove swamp, it was tiny (but at least it was a mangrove swamp)
The best thing about the update is you have the opportunity to trade/farm your dirt reserves
☝🏽☝🏽You can also water log the roots and make a kind of 1 block aquarium for fish 👍🏽👍🏽
Item filter under the dispenser to collect empty bottles. You could even recycle them into an auto bottle filler and put them back in the dispenser
That's the plan, yes!
Your excitement is contagious ☺
Welcome to the wilderness, guys
Ive been watching your videos since survival guide season 1 ep1
You're an OG!
I have watched him since Empires started!
stipped mangrove looks like those rolls(?) of meat
the 6 sided stripped mangrove looks kinda like blocks of meat or ham. actually, the jungle version looks more like ham, the mangrove is just the redder, more raw version.
speaking of which, spruce and dark oak could be cooked versions
