Question Gentlemen: Does the BOJ hint that God has a "Divine Being” problem parallel to his human problem? Consider, in Job 4:18, Eliphaz’s night spirit says, “God puts no trust in His servants, and He charges His angels with error.” Bildad will say, “even the moon is not bright, and the stars are not pure in his eyes.” (Job 25:5) As you note, God initiates the dispute before the Divine Council, and God seems to be testing the "Adversary" as much as He is testing Job. Back again, before the Divine Council, God circles back to the Adversary to comment on Job’s faithfulness, and we get the interesting line, “Skin for skin!”. Thank you for your thoughts. I enjoyed your conversation.

This are some excellent insights! The comments from Eliphaz and Bildad are fascinating indeed. These verses could give us additional content on the nature of divine beings who rebelled against God. I think it is worth mentioning how God’s judgment against Job’s friends in Job 42:7-9 makes the quest of discerning what to learn regarding their words fraught with difficulty.
Regardless of how we take the words of Eliphaz and Bildad, I think (to use the words that Dr. Nathan French often uses), “you could write a great paper on this!” There are other portions of the Hebrew Bible that speak to the “Divine Being problem.” Genesis 6 is the hallmark example of this. Exploring how this plays out in Job specifically is a fascinating idea.
Your point about God testing the Adversary is quite intriguing. Throughout Scripture, we see how God can be working multiple angles and people at the same time. Oh how I wish we had another scene with the Adversary at the end of the book!
Thank you for sharing your insights! I am glad that you enjoyed our conversation. I would love to hear more of your thoughts in the future.

When I look at the following passage, I always wonder what things in -Heaven- needed to be reconciled through the blood of Christ: Colossians 1:20 NASB- and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven.
Add the surrounding context of Colossians 1 (all the principalities etc) and then keeping the blood of the cross and the principalities from Colossians 1 in mind and reconciling things in Heaven throw in Hebrews 2:14: Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil. Makes for interesting meditations!
