  • So the suzuki drz 400 sm project is finished! For the most part, there are a few small finishing touches I want to add but are project bikes ever really finished?
    to see the bike in one piece is kinda strange after so long! Will be fun to test ride and take it for an mot, that will happen soon hopefully.
    What will be next? 🤔
    The nc 30 is now running but not well, I can't wait to have both of these bikes ready to ride, and get some videos of both.
    To see some of my other videos check out my channel by following the link below. I also own a Honda vfr400 nc30 and a Honda msx125 and I try to get a ride in on both from time to time there are videos of the r6 I also once had however that is now sold. Although I'll get another one day maybe.

    Fantastic video, did most of this to my 2005 Yellow DRZ400SM, but took me a year all standard parts bar the exhaust, smashing bikes, she is a keeper, 😂

      Oh I like a yellow one, nice! They are good bikes. This one took at least a year also! But worth it 😎

    Amazing transformation. It must be a unique feeling to ride something knowing every part in detail. Thanks for documenting the process.

    Nice! How long did this all take? Were there a lot of expenses? Great work!

      Thanks! And Thanks for watching, it took a couple of hours every other Sunday for about a year, the drz was in pretty rough shape, some of the expenses included sending off the frame to be powder coated and there where a few new bolts, getting the fork seals replaced was expensive, we also had new spokes fitted to the re painted wheels, then there was the replacement parts like, oil filters, coolant, chain and sprockets that sort of thing. Overall it wasnt a money pit, I think it was all done reasonably budget friendly. I'm definitely pleased with how it turned out! 😄👍🏼

    Nice job . What do you do about the rust of the fork stanchions?

    • @DoMoto_mc
      @DoMoto_mc  Рік тому

      Thanks, the stanchions were actually not too bad, the majority of the rust came away with a single edge blade then lightly sanded with some very fine wet and dry and plenty of polish. Just have to keep them clean and protected. If thet where worse I was. Planning to re coat the spots with a zinc battery by following other youtube videos but i think this time it was unnecessary. Thanks for watching!

    What is the spray solution you are using to clean up the surface of aluminum parts with?

    • @DoMoto_mc
      @DoMoto_mc  Рік тому +1

      It is a orange scented cleaner that can be bough in arasol cans from wurth. Or in bigger containers like industrial cleaner, expensive stuff but it's good. Thanks for watching!

    How did you take off the second bolt on the exhaust, I can’t find a angle

    • @DoMoto_mc
      @DoMoto_mc  Рік тому

      I remember it being a right pain. What kind of bolt is it? There were so many difficult bolts and fasteners on this I can't remember specifically.
      Two occasions come to mind. I remember sacrificing a socket for one such difficult and rusty bolt. And hammering it on so it might never come off.
      And I also remember a tricky one that I think was the exhaust bolt and putting an alen key into it at a funny angle so I could remove it with a spanner looped on the end of it for some leverage.
      It is also an aftermarket exhaust so it's likely slightly different to the standard one. Thanks for watching!
