*I can just see Alberta smiling with graditude and appreciation that You have taken the time to bestow such grace and love upon her. 💗*
The relationship between and your father in law is truly beautiful ❤.
They are all so Blessed to have each other. Beautiful family ❤
I love it when you have the earl of sandwich on! I always like listening to his input on the family and family history. He comes across as such a wonderfully nice person.
I completely agree! Just a total Gentleman in every way ♥️
Your father in law looks so proud Julie, and rightly so! ♥
I love hearing from your father (and mother when she’s been on) in laws. They’re so knowledgeable and yet still so personable.
Caring for her nephew, like Alberta did…she must have loved him like her own son. I bet she was completely devastated by his illness and death. Had he been born today, they may have been able to save him. So tragic.
I love your conversations with the Earl…the passing down of oral history.
Thank you Julie for another wonderful episode! Was so touched when you read Alberta’s letter describing Mapperton. You are truly meant to be there. Thank you also for letting us know how her nephew died. So sad but probably happened quite a bit back then. The muniment room looks beautiful!
Full reveal of muniment room this Saturday. Can’t wait!
Being a history buff, I enjoyed learning what happened to Billy as well as the connections amongst the properties and families.
I love the way Julie says "beautiful". so charming.
Its so sad how baby died. Side bar ...WOW I didnt realize until now how much Luke looks like his dad...omg
There is a video of Luke's dad when he was young when he appeared on the old To Tell The Truth show in 1964. It is amazing how much they look alike. Luke showed it a while back on one of their vlogs.
I get the impression that the family enjoys your research as much as we do. ❤
Love all the tales of your family. You look darling in that dress. So glad you find out how baby Billy passed. RIP Billy😢
I was able to find a death record through genealogy of a baby my grandparents had before my dad. We knew they had lost at least 1 baby, but didn't know anything about this baby. The details just made me want to hug my grandma, who unfortunately is no longer with us. I'm so happy she didn't give up and that at least she did end up having my dad.
Thank you, Julie, for a touching glimpse into Alberta’s family life. I can’t even begin to imagine the pain she suffered at the loss of that dear little one in her care. It may have been a lifelong burden she carried. Life is full of these stories and events, and I’m glad you were able to share one with us. And I’ll bet Alberta would be glad for your part in her family!
The muniment room looks wonderful! It's always a joy to hear from Luke's dad!
So sad for Alberta and her brother. The guilt of it happening under her care must have been very heavy. Plus, to pass away on his 1st birthday... Maybe birthdays weren't celebrated so young, at the time?
Congrats on solving the mystery!
Oh my Julie, The muniment room looks marvelous! Fabulous job!!
Did I miss a tour of the completed muniment room? It looks lovely.
Tour coming on Saturday over at Mapperton Live
Love your desk in the muniment room . It's beautiful.
I do Hope your little vacation home didn’t get flooded with all the rain that is happening in that country. Also. Thank you for sharing all the family history of your husbands family. It really is like looking back in time as you tell us about it.
So interesting... Even though I'm from America I still love this kind of stuff...thank you for sharing and given us all such great insight to times past...America loves you ..Always
Love seeing this family tree continue with branches till growing out and some branches having a completion. Love that your in laws have such great information and knowledge to help you.
So impressed by the depth of your knowledge and your energy as a historian! Thank you
Always enjoy episodes with you and your father-in-law!
Hi Julie what a sad story about the baby William. Can you explain the reason that a new mother would leave her baby to travel to India and not want the baby with her? That seems so unnatural to me. Nice video with having your father in law tell you about some of the family history.
But travelling back then would have been difficult with a small child, and perhaps even more challenging in India?
bless poor little mite at least he felt no more pain so sad still
Julie, how sublime! Two Chicago Gals embracing and loving these properties! So Blessed!
You were definitely meant to be there. We have a Lady Alice Montagu (Montacute) in our ancestry. Married Sir Ralph Daubeney. Also my grandfather and great grandfather lived and worked Loscombe and North Poorton Farms. I love watching both the channels you have on UA-cam.
I'm an American lady who has loved, studied, research and enjoyed British history. YOU CANNOT MAKE THE STORIES AND ANECDOTES UP!! Did I yell there? LOL Trying to make a point. Like the story the Earl is telling us. Just incredibly interesting, and I do not mean Monarchy. I mean this story and of course the Fourth Earl and Martha Raye. I just finished a new book about the fabulous Lady Melbourne. Love the channel guys and when I come it's the fairy tale cottage that will be my base of action. I can't wait!!
Such historical documentation/archives is surely a wonderful treasure and to be cherished. So sad the loss of little Billy at such an age. How devastating for the family, but now at least the mystery of his passing is known and he can be properly remembered. You always do an amazing job, Julie.
Love your outfit colours! ♥️🇨🇦
Hello Julie the extraordinary life of Alberta just fascinating I loved the letter you read Alberta’s love for her surroundings the history the. colours of nature everywhere Id say Alberta fell in love with England💖Always a pleasure to have your father-in-law sharing his knowledge of the family and the baby falling ill and passing so sad but many thanks for sharing Julie always a pleasure grazie mille my love💖💖😍😍👌👌🌟🌟
we need a full reveal video of the muniment room. how did you organize the archive.
you dress is lovely. it’s so wonderful to see your father in law, he’s an absolute wealth of information. what was the building now, do people live in it? when you say there are other farms on your estate, are they working, are they leased from the Montagu family? was there a village associated with Mapperton? so interesting.
Full reveal this Saturday. :-)
I so enjoyed this video and loved, loved the new letter of Alberta’s you found. It was exciting she talked of Mapperton in it.
I can't believe my UA-cam subscriptions are merging!! "Time Team S14-E03 School Diggers, Hooke Court, Dorset" ... Where will this life take me next? too funny, thanks so much.
Thanks for the heads-up! So worth watching now that we have the Montegu history. It's a moat!!
It's a beautiful place why didn't you tour the inside of hook manor. And I love the color of the room and the restoration of the stain glass windows beautiful room.
If you google Hooke Court you can find photos of the interior ground floor rooms which are used as a learning centre for overnight school visits.
Thank you for letting us know how Billy died. Such a sad circumstance that he was so young.
Here I am, sitting in my apartment in Montana sipping coffee with no wealth to speak of. But I find Julie's journey is incredible and get super excited when she gets excited!! You've worked quite diligently to get this far in your family's history!! ❤❤❤ keep on doing it 😊😊
I love your channel. It is full
Of history. I love
My history. Always will. It's so great. It the
Versatility 😊
Thanks for sharing this video. It was very interesting to learn about Alberta's life and to see the buildings and beautiful gardens. Your in-laws must be proud of you for delving into the history their family. Janice from Arkansas USA
Thank you again. Such sparkle and spirit. So thankful for these videos.
Dear Julie, I love learning of your family history....today I was reading how your family was associated to Hawaii...wow
What beautiful estates! Glad you are sharing them with us yanks! Love old houses!
Thank you Julie
Wonderful Julie! You are such a refreshing joy to follow. Your vlogs are respectful, educational and enthralling. Well done! A fan from Kansas City.
I've been waiting for the update on this story. Yay.
This was such an interesting vlog! Not only the story and background information but also the way you set the content up. Just loved to watch it.
I know that I'm posting this 4 months late, but I love your father-in-law. I learn so much from him and he seems very down to earth. I love your Mother in Law as well. They both seem very down to earth, as does Luke. Also, on my father's side, I have English and Scottish ancestry, I so want to make it to the UK and be able to visit both England and Scotland and see where my ancestors came from. I just need to win the lottery to afford to go. At least I can get BritBox and Acorn TV and get British shows. With Acorn, I can also get shows from Australia, New Zealand, and Canada.
Great stories today Julie. I have noticed that all of the movies of Alberta have a blue line in them. That is actually a blond hair. Whoever converted them to digital could have cleaned the film better and that distraction would have been eliminated.
I’m excited to see the new muniment room you are in!!! Interesting things solved. TY
Are the lesser of the Sandwhich family a family line of THE ORDERVES?
You’re so good at all this! Brava!! 😅🎉❤
Thank you for another wonderful vlog and history of your family. 😍😘
You are doing a great job!
I backup that... Was just to give a similar comment. Well done American woman, there surely is a reason why you are keeping the history alive. Cheers 😊
Who are the others in the paintings? Can we have a virtual tour?
What? No Muniment room reveal?! What’s up with that? It certainly looks lovely! Hey, you mentioned that Alberta is buried in Brampton. That’s the town they used as the village for Downton Abbey! I wonder, has Alberta’s monument been in the show Downton Abbey?
Revels coming on Mapperton Live this Saturday! Woohoo!
What a cool story! You are living the romantic dream of many women everywhere! It's al.ost like a Hallmark movie!
Thanks for a very interesting video Julie.
Absolutely fascinating.
Hello. Just enjoy and love your videos. Thank you.
Thank You Julie for sharing very interning
Thank you for another informative and lovingly presented tale from the Family history! So sad the so many people still die from pneumonia today. Hope all is well 🙂
We need a show about Alberta. While Downton was a great show. They are a fariy tale, they got to keep their family home. I'm more interested in hearing from the families that had to sell and restart their roots somewhere new and how your family carried on.
Another really interesting video.
I don’t know why this is so emotional
Amazing
I'm curious why the family moved from Hinchingbrooke to Mapperton if they already owned Hook Court? I hope we get a tour of Hook Court!
Your programs are always so lovely. What I notice, as an American, that you have absorbed pronunciation and cadence of your loving husband. In this episode it stood in the word "beautiful " and house's n houses. Listen to your self. Lol 😅
It’s so ironic that both you and Alberta are from Chicogo❤
Those old letters and records should be placed in protective plastics. Handled with cotton gloves
Alberta is my 7th cousin ❤
You really should make a movie about her
He speaks beautifully like music. He needs a mic though.
9:29 mind blown 🤯
Have I missed the video covering your video to Hook Court Julie?
Just wondering why it seems no one in your Montagu family have dogs? I see a dog at Hook Court and other houses and I think I saw a workman's dog tied up by a shed once a long time ago... a house is not a home without dogs and cats IMHO. 🐕🐾🚶♀️😊
We have cats. 😍
I probably missed the answer to this but is Hook Court occupied? I was kind of waiting for you to meet with the owner while you were there. It is beautiful, to be sure, so doesn't look empty.
I wonder if you know whether there is a connection with her Sturgis family and the US city of Sturgis, South Dakota.
❤️❤️❤️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Is Hook Court open to be toured?
Yes,is it?
Very frustrating to have all the buildup on the renovation of the munament room, and now it’s done and no reveal. 😢
Absolutely. No follow-up.
That most likely was only for those that can afford to be a Patreon. We just show support for the channel but give no money.
Reveal will be shown this Saturday. It’s really exciting!
How was The property not entailed and was split between two daughters?
Is noone living at Hook Court then? I feel like moving in, like the Tennant of Wildfell Hall.
I know it is so convoluted but living in Turkey know Lady Wortley Montague then the Montague Douglas Scott family from the Scottish borders
I can't hear him.
Julie, honey, change the thumbnail on this video. The morbid content does NOT match well with your smile & lovely face. It just reads all wrong.
I'm not saying this to be a jerk, I'm saying it because i love you and i don't want the haters to come after you for it. I'm sure whoever put this together didn't realize that it just... lacks taste, but it does.
Love you and your channel Julie, and happy holidays ❤
Thinking....... 🤔
Why did the upperclass rented out instead of demolish and selling their estates to do maintenance and pay the taxes.
There is so much history lost. 😢
Kings and Aristocrats married for procreation and wealth not because they were fond of each other. So privacy was important in between engaging in marital activities. This doesn’t mean that they didn’t develop strong feelings and even love but that usually wasn’t how their relationship started. Actually King Charles II was very loving to his wife but she couldn’t produce a living child. He was pressured to throw her over for that reason and because she was Catholic but refused. Thus he fooled around a lot instead. I think he was doing the major form of birth control after all her miscarriages.
I was posting this on the Separate Bedrooms episode but it ran over and it appears here instead.
Thank you for sharing the info regarding the life and death of poor little Billie. Julie you should produce / write a mini drama semi fictional series for PBS/BBC the life and story of Alberta alone could be so intriguing and alluring. And what way could be better to help solidify and share her story which is rich in history for both America and England. I'm a huge fan all the way from Arizona
