Honestly I think whoever wins this series will be in the final, and whichever team ends up winning this series will have to earn it through blood, sweat, and tears. This is going to be a great series to watch as a neutral fan

Rangers cautiously optimistic meter 5/10. For those of us entering the workforce in 1994 we understand a Rangers Cup is right there with Halley’s Comet. 💫 Carolina is notorious for catching teams napping and scoring 2 goals half a minute apart. Rangers gotta look for that.

Yeah I feel like theres been a lot of pressure for him to break out like Laf, but we need great 3rd liners too and thats what hes been. Like oh well hes not a superstar, but we can't fit 12 players into 2 lines
It's been that way most of this season. Kotkaniemi has a good work ethic and solid puck work, but he just can't get on the score board.
I love having him, he’s a hard worker. Just can’t justify that contract any more unless he does more offensively

As a canes fan, I could see this going either way. If the canes lock it down, they can definitely take it, but if they’re sloppy then the rangers will take advantage.
One thing that was interesting that I’m not sure a lot of people knew, the rangers moved up their right handed third string goalie louie domingue into practices just so the players could practice shooting more on a right hand glove and a left hand blocker
66% is too high of a chance for Carolina. I genuinely think it’s a 50/50 toss up. I hope Carolina wins, but I’m scared of this Rangers team. I don’t know what will happen, but I know that it’ll most likely be 6 or 7 games and that it’ll be fun (and bad for my heart and mental health)

This series is going to be very close. I don't think I can give a prediction. These are the two best teams in the East, (#1 and #3 overall). Both of these teams are quite talented. If this series doesn't go 7, I'll be very surprised. I'm fine with whoever wins this one.

The Athletic model has Carolina at a 66% chance of winning, which is ridiculously underselling the Rangers. This is going to be a tight, close series in which I think the winner will end up raising the Cup. New York's top stars are good enough to win a series on their own, especially Shesterkin, while the Canes have been the best team in the league since the trade deadline. One key thing to note is that in 2022, Carolina had to use Raanta because Andersen was out, which obviously isn't the case this year, and that could be the difference. If it does end up going the distance, having Game 7 be at MSG will be a big advantage for the Rangers, which is why the Canes will be wanting to win this one in 6. Ultimately, I think they do, with Guentzel showing why the Canes went all in for him at the deadline.

Andersen seems to get hurt a lot, if the NYR can get him moving side to side he may get hurt again.

It really isn’t tbh. I’m a Rangers fan, but the Canes are heavily favoured statistically. My model has the Canes even more favoured than 66%.
Good points, however, Florida looks like a machine and would be very difficult for either team in a conference final they did sweep the Canes last year. Granted both teams are better now.
@@robertsquared2916 I’m not going to predict a series based on the prospect that a goalie might get hurt. I think I speak for everyone when I say I want there to be no injuries and that I hope both teams are at full strength the whole way through.

east brackets arent nearly as bad as West. the Jets were the worst team in the Central bracket, but better than LA Nashville and pretty even with Canucks. Edmonton has an easy path to the WCF while either Dallas or Vegas is out rd1

Ranger fan. I'm gonna be optimistic here and say Rangers in 6. But realistically its a Game 7 toss-up kind of matchup. Washington was REALLY bad that series, therefore the Rangers really were not properly tested. This will be the first test for them and Game 1 will be absolutely huge.

I like the Rangers in this series, but my biggest worry is discipline. It's hard enough to generate offensive against the canes. If theyre taking bad penalties, even if they kill them off, it's gonna be an uphill battle.
Well let's see how the series gets called. The series vs the Caps was called ridiculously. For both sides. Watching that and then flipping to the other games I was like wtf? Half of that hit in LA EDM is being called roughing in Rangers Caps

Yea I see so many people call staying out of the box as a key to win the series. Like idk what playoffs everyone else has been watching. Every series has had a really bad game where everything is called or nothing is called. Shit seems so random.

I think the isles make the canes look bad, remember last year after that series and everybody thought the canes looked "bad" but then they smoked the devils.

I disagree. The Rangers have Jones and Ruhwedel on D. They have Chytl on SB along with Brodzinsky, Edstrom and J Quick. All NHL caliber healthy scratches except for Quick who is a backup. Rangers are stacked and can measure up with anyone.

islanders fan here, if carolina plays the rangers like they are in for some trouble, but I'm not sure they were playing there A game against the islanders. The rangers however are on a totally different level, they are very well coached and put together nicely

I've always thought there should be a time limit on penalty shots. It'd be easy enough to do. You could do something like 5 seconds from the time the puck is touched. That would be plenty of time.

im thinking rangers in 6, this series is gonna playoff hockey at its best, i think the depth scoring and lockdown defense paired with the physical play will be the difference maker but no matter what its gonna be entertaining as all hell

Canes offensive firepower will definitely expose the rangers weaknesses.
I believe the canes can win in 6. Their guys continue improving, the confidence level is at an all time high. They hit the ice knowing they're capable of not only outscoring but shutting down every team in the world. They were absolutely the best looking team in the east in round 1. I don't believe shesterkin can stop them night after night even as great as he is. Rangers just don't look stout enough defensively to handle the creativity and sniping abilities of Carolina consistently.

This is going to be a very tight series. Teams are evenly matched up and down the lineup. Special teams are elite for both. Difference likely to come down to goaltending...slight edge Rangers. I will be at Game 1...LGR!

I personally HATE both these teams. However, very simply, they are both the cream of the crop.

I picked Carolina at the beginning of the playoffs to take this series and I'll stick with my pick but I'm less confident after the 1st round. NYR went how I expected, Carolina "struggle" more than I expected

Carolina scored 3.8 per against the isles, not 2.8, but whatever. Season series is what it is. A more interesting breakdown would be season record against playoff teams, pp and pk against playoff teams, against teams over .500, top half of the league pp and pk. Out of the new year break Carolina dummied nyr 6-1 in NY with a lineup that included lemieux. Don’t like Carolina on long rest, but Rod had them ready for that Jan 2 matchup, and the Canes should have a nice little routine baked into the nyc travel. Can’t. Wait. 🏴☠️❗️

I'm a big.Carolina fan but have to give a slight edge to the Rangers. I am hoping for a Carolina-Florida ECF but may not happen.
Here is 1 analytic that matters to all Ranger fans when the game was tied or when Rangers had a lead with Igor in net this year his save % was tops in the league no 1 so yeah goaltending will decide it
both top 3 in pp and pk. This is going to be a dog fight! They look fairly even, nod to Igor with the advantage in goal. Rangers in 7
