With that model number, you need to reach out to an authorized Canon Servicing Dealer and request the "Special Firmware" that will enable scanning from this older machine to newer PC/Macs. For network security standards have changed since the time these machines were manufactured, they require a new firmware to enable these newer standards.
I am using C5250 and my imac runs on Big Sur. I tried setting it up but it says no response. I tried the computer IP address and the computer name but I'm getting the same message.
Firmware. If you have setup the MAC correct, meaning sharing is configured, and it still does not work, it is almost always Firmware. If you do not have a machine manufactured within the last 2 years, I would check for firmware updates.
Is the copier giving you any error codes such as the scan was not sent? It could be any number of reasons your copier isn't communicating with your apple device, especially if you didn't type in your folder path correctly, your username correctly, or if you didn't give your folder the correct permissions.
Unfortunately, we at Duplicating Systems only work with Canon or Savin machines, so contacting your xerox dealer may be a better choice in this regard.
Is it possible to do this without entering the username and password for the mac you are scanning to in the printer? I don't mind setting up a public folder on my mac. I just don't want to input my username and password to my mac into my printer.

Hi. It is possible on Canon PIXMA G7040 ? When I connect via IP adrress to my printer, there is no any "Address book". Just siple printer setup.

It wont work.. I haven't received scanned documents to the folder ... xerox machine says no response

Yes. If it is not working and your copier is older than 2-3 years (2020) then you may need the firmware updated on the copier.

So create separate user account on MAC and give him write privileges to the shared folder.
