As a person who was born and raised in Madagscar, but is now abroad, I love watching these kinds of videos from people who have actually visited the country and who know what they are talking about.
I love that despite not being native or being second generation they try to educate and raise awareness, and although there are things that seem obvious, like being polite or not taking photos just because people smile at them, they're people who believe that because they are in a poor country with little schooling, Malagasy and its culture can be treated as a frivolous tourist attraction.

When I studied Madagascar wildlife, I came across the carnivorous fossa; an animal that preys on everything from paultry to even beg lemurs. In Madagascar, eating fossa is a taboo or a fady, if you will. To add to your list of don'ts is: don't eat a fossa . Due to the belief that Fossa scavenges on the bodies of ancestors buried in shallow graves in the forest, in many parts of the island it is strictly prohibited to eat these animals. Nice videos la santina, and miss Madagascar.

Very informative vid. I have a pen pal who lives in Fort Dauphin. She does talk of the amount of poverty in her region including her family's status. I will eventually send a care package directly from a vendor but she knows and understands I cannot send anything right now. I feel she is a good person doing her best. This was a great video. Thank you for the knowledge. I don't think I'll ever be able to journey to Madagascar but I'll leave it up to God the Father.

i can't eat what i want in certain places? Ye, we are not going to go along. I guess this is one of the reasons why people don't travel much to Madagascar. Same as egypt, don't like tourism.
The wildlife is mind blowing though, such an amazing tropical landscape.

Depends on what you want to eat. A lot of places, eating pork isn't allowed mostly due to traditionnal reasons or "fady" (taboos)

@@mbolaramanoelina625 Ok, well i would not know the difference. I would have to check out the local norms before i enter a new place. I bet Madagascar can be an absolute amazing trip and i do travel for animal experiences. I checked this vid out since i am looking for a new destination for a solo tourist and madagascar seem like a experience for a lifetime. However, my ignorant brain did not know how isolated, poor and neglected the population is. It makes me sceptical for my own safety tbh.

@@NeroNORirl I understand. If you don't feel safe, it's better to follow your instinct, or wait if Some friends/family members would like to join you into this aventure.
But if you really want to come by yourself someday, I suggest to take a professional guide to assist you.
      I hope you'll find what you're looking for. 😉

Gosh! That place sounds like North Korea with having a guide with you. I had always wanted to visit that place. After watching this video , I have to keep in mind that there is a lot to consider when going there.

It is not like North Korea. It is wise to have a guide when in an unfamiliar country. People told me not to go out alone but I did. It can be dangerous. Police can arrest you at night if you cannot produce ID or bribe them. I love Madagascar, my people, all of it
