  • This video explores what NOT to do in MADAGASCAR as a traveller. If you're visiting MADAGASCAR you may wonder what not to do while in there, Malagasy etiquette and manners - the don'ts of the Malagasy culture - in other words, Malagasy faux pas!!
We all make mistakes if so just say : AZAFADY ;)

As a person who was born and raised in Madagscar, but is now abroad, I love watching these kinds of videos from people who have actually visited the country and who know what they are talking about.
I love that despite not being native or being second generation they try to educate and raise awareness, and although there are things that seem obvious, like being polite or not taking photos just because people smile at them, they're people who believe that because they are in a poor country with little schooling, Malagasy and its culture can be treated as a frivolous tourist attraction.

When I studied Madagascar wildlife, I came across the carnivorous fossa; an animal that preys on everything from paultry to even beg lemurs. In Madagascar, eating fossa is a taboo or a fady, if you will. To add to your list of don'ts is: don't eat a fossa . Due to the belief that Fossa scavenges on the bodies of ancestors buried in shallow graves in the forest, in many parts of the island it is strictly prohibited to eat these animals. Nice videos la santina, and miss Madagascar.

I have a question about Madagascar. I'm going in late April to Comoros and Madagascar. I have about a week in Madagascar only. That really just gives me a chance for a few days in Antananarivo then somewhere else. I'm trying to decide between a couple of days in Nosy Be or a trip east to Andasibe Park. Which do you suggest Nosy Be or Andasibe? At first I was leaning towards Andasibe to see lemurs but it seems like you can see those near Antananrivo and in Nosy Be too. Which would you suggest?

Oui!
