- Okay, so I started this whole thing like 2 months ago. I told myself that "this will be a fun little thing that I can do real quick". But the fact that I've been silent for so long kinda begs to differ. At some point, I wanted to make animatics for all the songs in the musical. But now I'm not as sure because it took so long! But we'll see maybe I'll make more at some point. But the next upload will definitely be something much simpler!

(I read a summary of the play on Wikipedia.)
(Also, He is called Ja’far instead of Jafar. He just has a apostrophe between the First “A” and “F”.)

But either he knows full and we’ll it’s not a big deal and knows JASMINE will think it’s a big deal, or he genuinely thinks he has the hardest life in the kingdom. I’m leaning towards the latter, but I’d say stuff can be two things.

But seriously, this is amazing. I love how they're all wearing fake smiles until they crack ever so slightly, getting confused by the dancing at first and getting dizzy, that random guy pushing Jafar to the ground just because. I love it all. It truly captures the heart of the musical itself as well as the song, while still having its own twist

It's really impressive how you kept jafar's design p much intact but still made him look nicer. Part of it's your style a little bit, but also you pushed the right parts to make him look more innocent and nice.

Forreal, every comment in this animatic about his looks had me thinking "but he looks so cute, look at the eyelashes on his oval eyes"
It's his eyes, in the original he has very vertical and narrow eyes, in this his eyes are very big, open and round
Peak shape theory. He's all round and stuff which means he looks friendlier
He has glasses now
1. The energy in this is very reminiscent of the Disney renaissance.
2. I really like that Jafar looked more like the 1992 version but he somehow exudes Dylan Saunders
3. I really like that every other background character looks like what they’re representing, but the Robert Manion character looks and moves exactly like Robert Manion
4. The ending is so good, especially when Jafar is looking up while everyone is on what I assume is a possibly unstable platform, then he gets shoved.
If this is how good Dream A Little Harder is, then one can only imagine how good the other animatics will be

Its cool, because shrerezades stories talk about the villains, so the world twisted exists in actually makes sense to reference it
I am in awe. This is beautiful. The characters, the shape language, the flow, Robert Manion. You captured the man’s essence! I especially love how broad and sincere the townspeople’s smiles are, it adds a creepiness that isn’t in the live performance. This is astounding, amazing work.

these designs?? incredible. somehow everyone looks just like the canon show costumes but also like they were streamlines and refined into the ideal animated background character for this particular greek chorus. the end with the pointing fingers slowly going down and then becoming the bird... genius
It took a sec to adjust to hearing this as like, cleaned up vocals, instead of having the background chatter from a theater audience, but damn this is awesome!

I can TELL that Robert Manion character is Robert Manion by the art, and that's amazing.
This one song has made me not only think from Jafars perspective but also made him my favourite charcter in Aladdin amazing job!

The only thing that i prefer from the original play is how Jafar was still smiling through people's weird grievances even though they were unrealistic
Dang, seeing it animated like this, this is basically the equivalent of highschool bullying. Like, all the kids just have one kid they pick on because they don't like him/her. You did an amazing job animating it! Wonderful work! :D
You feel so bad for Jafar, and then you find out this happens because he got a role in local government, and you're like... oh. Yeah. That'd do it.
I hate how the villagers are technically correct as they did nothing and in the end it all worked out and Jafar disappeared.

the worst thing about this is that Jaime doesn't throw her baby after she asks why it always cries like they do in the show. because I love that so much
I just adore how so much personality shines through the direction of these characters. They're more than just caricatures of the actors in the play, and actually have their personalities expressed through their designs and body language. The best example is the villager who preaches the "Dream a little harder" shpiel. She looks like the stereotypical beautiful Disney character, who constantly moves with kind and careful movements. Not only does it fit with the overall point of the song itself, but it also adds more to the joke. Nicely done.
If you're going to do another one of these, I hope it's either the twisted song or the achmed one

The fact that their ideology of dreaming and wishing worked out in the end makes it that much better; Jafar didn't believe in wishes, but through his own actions, he inadvertently granted these peoples'.
Its like my fifth time watching this today when I notice that the "violent deaths" the people are singing about are all deaths of actual disney villains.

1:33 the townsfolk were *this* close to beating the shit out of Jafar before she intervened
each character design uses such good shapes, especially with how angular Jafar is to make him feel extra different from the townsfolk. all of the facial expressions were hilariously cute while still being super mean, you captured the energy of the musical so well. the imagery of people standing on boxes just to sing about how much they hate this one guy will stick in my brain for the next couple weeks. one more thing is just robert manion. you did it. you made the perfect cartoon design of him

Gosh the animatic hit me hard, especially at the end. Compared to the live, Jafar at least put on a 'happy face'. But here, he's even shoved, and you could see the fear and sadness in his eyes when he does. Also, Robert Manion's character here looks especially evil too like holy crap!

As someone who got bullied throughout all my years of school (kindergarten, primary, middle, high school) because of my body, the line "I hear the people whisper as I walk about the streets, I know they call me "ugly old jafar"" hit a little too hard.
THE SHAPES IN THIS VIDEO ARE SO SO GOOD. SO DYNAMIC AND THE CHARACTER DESIGNS HAVE UNIQUE SILHOUETTES AND THIS IS JUST SO STYLIZED I LOVE IT SO MUCH. A SHAME THE KINGDOMS 2DS WAS OUTLAWED TSK TSK

You likely won’t make any more since I can only assume this took forever to make (and it was worth it so much!! This turned out fantastic and I’m more then happy with just this!!) but No one remembers Achmed would make an amazing cartoon
As easy as it was for me to think of Dylan Saunders as a good guy, still threw me off to see a wholesome smile on the animated Jafar’s face lol. If you ever do Twisted (like the song), I’d love to watch that one too!
