"Until at last I threw down my enemy, and smote his ruin upon the mountainside" is a mfing BAR
Interesting fact about that line is that it was subtly changed from the books. "I threw down my enemy, and he fell from the high place and broke the mountainside where he smote it in his ruin" was the original quote which implies that the beast was so massive that he destroyed a chunk of mountain on the way down. So cool.
Gandalf uses magic in this scene just to troll the Fellowship with a deep-faked Saruman voice more than he does in the entirety of the War of the Ring XD
Gandalf is a demi-god, equipped with elven ring of power and probably only single person, who can kill anyone in the middle earth on third age, unless it's Sauron and his minions.
@@Postidemonicloser to an angel, and he doesn't possess a ring of power
@@minifred2815 He does have a ring of power. It's written, that the elf Cirdan gave him "Narya" (ring of fire) when they met on the shores, when Gandalf was arriving and Cirdan was to leave. Gandalf wielded the ring very first day he ever walked Middle-Earth.
Do your homework before next comment.
@@Postidemoni ok, well I'm sorry it's been a bit since I read the silmarillion, I was more focusing on the fact that all of the elven rings of power were locked away when they realized that Sauron betrayed them, so no one possesses an elven ring of power, including Sauron
@@minifred2815 Elven rings are not locked or otherwise gone. Galadried wields one of the elven rings also, called "Nenya". Exitence of elven rings was hidden from Sauron, and especially "Narya" could not be seen without the wielding of "The Ring of Power".
"Nenya's power was preservation and concealment from evil. " (Fandom Wiki)
Again, do your homework.
I love that serene smile on Gandalf's face, so calming and reassuring. Our leader has returned to us.
It's not in this clip, but I love Gimli's response:
"This new Gandalf's more grumpy than the old one."😄
This is the Gandalf from War-Mart.
"Did you really think Saruman could keep me in that plastic prison?"
I will never get to tell anyone I threw down my enemy and smote his ruin upon the mountainside, and man that kind of kills my confidence a little not gonna lie.
Don't let your dreams be dreams
Hey, you tell them anyway my friend
I volunteer to be your enemy
I love the music when Gandalf the White reveals himself. Gives me goosebumps every time!
Part of the Forth Eorlingas soundtrack, from The Two Towers. I think the music really captures the essence and the power of the being that ressurected Gandalf and sent him back (Eru Iluvatar himself). God, the second film is such a good depiction of a story where the main characters are against the odds, in a seemingly unwinnable situation.
"I come back to you now, at the turn of the tide."
The way Gimli says “Gandulf” all excited and giddy. He truly cared about the fellowship and shows how far Dwarven loyalty goes.
This scene is one of 2 times that Morgoth is mentioned. I’ve always been a Big fan of the first age more than the second or third. Wish we could see more of it
I've tackled The Silmarillion, and it's a book you can read a hundred times and find something new every time.
It makes the terrors of the Third Age seem tame.
Shelob and Sauron? Wait until they see Ungoliant and Morgoth.
I like the third age a bit better just because I enjoyed the absolute detail in which Tolkien writes his world.
Read the Moria chapter at 1am with just a table lamp.
Or, any of the chapters in Mordor.
The movies are brilliant. But, I consider Tolkien the greatest writer humanity has produced.
@@jokerinthebronxone day. One day, we'll see Fingolfin vs Morgoth.
He also passively mentions the eru revived and it’s been said that the reason he’s more happier is cause he met his creator after thousands of years
When was the second time?
"A Balrog of Morgoth"
The greatest trilogy of ALL TIME!!!
*_OF ALL TIME!_*
GOOSEBUMBS!!!
Such inspiring that a person can become so wise so late in life.
Hope for me yet!!!
Dwarf: Bows head in respect
Elf: Kneels in respect
Human: "bruh... Like wtf? How?"
1:15 its Eru Iluvatar.
HARAMBE!? It cannot be. You fell.
- I am Harambe the White, and I come back to you now, at the turn of the tide.
SWORDS OUT.
Harambe? Now, that's a name I haven't heard in a long time... A long time.
Goat
Dude is always spot on.
"I am Gandalf the White."
As it should have been at the very beginning all along.
I think gandalf wasnt allowed to interfeer since he was divinr, so he intervened partially but he had to make sure mortals had the strength to stand against sauron
He was sent to middle earth with Saruman to teach the middle earth how to stand up to Sauron but when Gandalf died in the first movie he was given a second life and more if his power and as Saruman betrayed the maiar Gandalf was given the white title
@@mxgaming1236 Its been a long time, but yah IIRC fighting the balrog was not Gandalf overstepping, but rather doing his duty. Like Gandalf couldn't directly use his power to combat Sauron, but fighting a balrog who did not belong on Middle Earth in the first place was totally in his wheelhouse. That's why he got sent back. Saurman was no longer guiding men, and the other wizards had died or abandoned their duties, and there still needed to be someone to aid Middle Earth.
@@TheJackOfFoolsand to think he got by on fireworks and burning pinecones up until then for however many years to be known for fireworks lol
Idk why but that mountain and that dragon reminds me of throat of the world in skyrim 😂
Lol. Parthunaxx was on a holiday that day.
its not a dragon doe its a balrog but true it looks skyrim like
It’s a Balrog, not a dragon. Balrogs are demons that served the Dark Lord Morgoth
I Like That Movie
"That Movie" lol.
I love it. Easily one of the world's best.
Gandalfs return to life . That is the Will of Eru Illuvatar . The surpreme god of Tolkiens universe . The professor confirmed in one his famous letters . That Eru was behind Gandalfs return ..
Me returning home (my dog thought I was gone forever)
gandalf was blessed by the power of destiny and came back. He upgraded to the white coat wizard because of his bravery
Stan, Happy Birthday!
I…. Am Gandalf the white
Gandalf vs balrog
Frickin trying to tell everybody what to do. They're caught.
The best part of this scene is the King of Gondor didn’t kneel.
I'd watch a prequel about Gandalf the Black.
Not sure how likely this is but I wonder if this is what gandalf was like originally (at least in terms of personality obviously he's much more powerful here than he ever was before) or at least closer to it when he first came to middle earth,up until the lord of the rings trilogy happened everything had been fairly peaceful for at least the past 1000 years or so? which is plenty of time for people to change and develop Sorry don't know my history that well please don't sue me 😂. It's like the gandalf here has been reminded of his purpose
I like gandalf the grey better XD
You’re not alone my friend. Believe it or not, Gandalf himself Ian Mckellen said he preferred Gandalf the Grey over Gandalf the White.
Well in the books Gandalf the Grey lives the recreational life of the wanderer he is not as mature or aged and loves the simple pleasures of middle earth. Gandalf the White was given an eternity of years, power and wisdom he no longer cared for foolishness and was noticeably more annoyed with Hobbit behavior. I like Gandalf in either fashion however its clear that when he went from Grey to White that it was like having your brother replaced with your grandfather.
That is understandable. Gandalf the Grey was human. Or at least very human-like. Gandalf the White was a lot closer to his true angelic self. A bit too alien and removed from mortal concerns.
@@Mollikar Gandalf the Grey was definitely aged and mature, but he knew how to enjoy the simple things in life. Gandalf the White, however, returned with a bigger mission. Sauron was a much bigger threat now than when he first arrived in Middle Earth so he had to put aside the fun and get more serious and focused on destroying a major evil.
Arwen Undomiel/Arwen
Great order! Think about it! FOTR Begin the story, see Gandalf ride into town, and see Gandalf die . See AUJ , DOS , and BOT5A as Gandalf's life flashing before his eyes. Then see Gandalf return in T2T . And finish with ROTK . It keeps surprises and twists in tact. It gives the story a cool western feel. Mental juggling is minimal. It works well!
Gandolf the grand wizard😂
Albus Dumbledore✨
... and returned from Valinor as Abigail the White.
I just wondering how they got onto that mountain
In the book the two towers says that they climbed from a stair to the top of that mountain
They were falling from during 's bridge for a lot of time . Then they fell into deep water and they took the passages of kazan dum and from the secret stair they climbed to the top of that mountain with snow
I wonder if there's a Gandalf the Black.
Probably in prison
@@maximmihailovic6807 He or she meant Gandalf the Black by Gandalf having black robes, hair and beard. No need to overcomplicate the what if with stupidity.
Maybe if Gandalf had taken the ring for himself and become corrupted…
There is 5 wizards in Middle Earth. The white, the grey, the brown and the two blues. No black wizard,
black is a sinister color in the Tolkien universe, it is always associated with something/someone you should be wary of, or straight up death.
LMFAO@@maximmihailovic6807
roman catholic
To this day it is still unclear who dragged him away from the mountain after he died and how did his hair became white and his eyes blue??
No it isn't. The Giant Eagle Gwaihir picked him up and took him to Lothlorien. His hair became White because he was given a new body by God.
I'm first
Good for you. Nobody cares.
