Understanding UPGMA Algorithm for Hierarchical Clustering
Welcome to our educational video on the Unweighted Pair Group Method with Arithmetic Mean (UPGMA) clustering algorithm! In this video, we dive into the fascinating world of bioinformatics and computational biology to explore how UPGMA helps us construct phylogenetic trees and analyze genetic relationships.
What's Covered:
Introduction to UPGMA and hierarchical clustering
Steps involved in the UPGMA algorithm
Calculation of genetic distances and similarity measures
Building evolutionary trees from distance matrices
Whether you're a student in biology, a researcher in bioinformatics, or simply curious about computational methods in genetics, this video offers a clear breakdown of UPGMA and its significance in understanding evolutionary relationships.

The number of differences between sequences B and E is actually 5.
The main aim is to understand how the process works. Once you get the hang of it, give it a shot with another example. And if you have any questions, feel free to ask.
진짜 재미있게 이해 쏙쏙 잘되네 ㅋㅋㅋ Thanks alot!!
E-B=5
??
Thank you... Well addressed
My pleasure
massive thank you
Welcome! Keep sharing my content.
how can you determine the B is more closer to D than E? because if you look closely that the line is more towards D.
Why do you remove C rather than A ? And E rather than D ?
Thankyou so much❤
You're welcome 😊
wanna ask if the number of differences between sequence B and E is 6, but not 5?
"The accurate value is actually 5, as I mentioned in the video's subtitles."

thank you very much :)@@BioScholar971
Same doubt
Thankyou so much
Most welcome
hi, how C-B=7 can you please answer
You have to count the number of mismatches between the sequences. In both sequences, only 'G' is matched, and all other 7 characters are mismatched.
What if B and D = 4 and B and E = 4? What would do then?
You chose one or another, it’s the same
