    I couldn’t agree more on brass accents, it’s beautiful, easy to work with, I like it for the nut, markers, inlays, rosettes, even binding channels, awesome

      @@TheWoodenHobbyistmy guitar tech Bill in 98’ bound a crappie Tele’ with copper and put a Strat neck as a experiment “ like Ian Moore used Tele’ neck on his Strat” the binding looked fantastic “he did channel it” was stronger than the neck “bad idea for tuning stability” looked awesome

    heres an idea for neck inlays: pyrography art on a lighter wood like maple fretboard or something, i like the idea of woodlands themed like birds/ feathers/ leaves as inlays and a 12th fret symbol of a deer or elk or something

    • @TheWoodenHobbyist
      @TheWoodenHobbyist  16 днів тому +1

    I am a HUGE inlay nerd. I have purchase guitars before just because the fret inlays were unique. I love the PRS bird inlays - one of my favorites. I also just got a Schecter Nick Johnston tele style guitar with brass ring inlays. I think it would be cool to have a "black jack" themed guitar. Some subtle nods to poker (tasteful - not overdone like an orange county chopper) with black jack/playing card symbol/poker specific inlay work.

    • @TheWoodenHobbyist
      @TheWoodenHobbyist  12 днів тому

      I’d like to get into more image style inlays in the future. Brass rings are next on the list!

    I have used a lot of brass accents in bass building. I like making fret marker inlay material from a 1/8" aluminum tube with 1/16" carbon fiber rod glued inside. Once sanded and polished, you get a nice silver ring around a black center.

    • @TheWoodenHobbyist
      @TheWoodenHobbyist  14 днів тому

      @@TheWoodenHobbyist Not sure where my reply went! Anyway, I bought the K&S Precision Metals aluminumc tube from my local hobby store, which is a HobbyTown USA. But any hobby shop should have some. The carbon fiber rod I sourced from Dragonplate. It's pretty cheap.

    Scarlett guitars is a great name for your "company " love the live edge. Thoughts on inlays. Different coins would be cool. You could insert a stained dowel into a red,blue or yellow big gulp straw and use this for an easy ringed inlay.

    Kicking in a sub so that you can maybe get a proper sponsorship from EMG one day.
    Some nice ideas in this build and you are definitely developing your own workflow and style.
    The burl is lovely - but it might be worth keeping the rest as tops only - but it means you could double the amount of guitars made from it. For hardening, Ben over at Crimson Guitars has used cactus juice, but has also been experimenting with superglue.

    • @TheWoodenHobbyist
      @TheWoodenHobbyist  4 дні тому

      Thanks a lot! I’ve saved about 20 guitar tops from the burl and they’re insane looking. A lot of curl and compression grain! I’ve also thought about CA glue for the next build as a hardener. We shall see!

    Something ive not seen as a fretboard inlay that i think would be neat is stipes instead of dots. They could be done with epoxy or with thin strips of another wood, an example of how you could do it could be:
